Tommys Restaurant

Stopped here because I was hungry and in the area. $ 11 for an egg and bacon sandwich, soda and fries. Only two stars because there was a hair in one half of the sandwich.

If I could give them zero stars I would. It’s extremely hot in there. That only makes me wonder about the condition of the food. I walked in there was no cashier. The cook came out to ring me up. He didn’t even write down my multiple item order. He gave me everything I didn’t want and forgot the things I asked for. He also gave me the top of the tomato, you know that core looking brown thing. I was disgusted. They’re probably trying to be cheap and not throw anything away.

I ate lunch at this Tommy’s Restaurant in El Monte, CA on 9÷1÷2015. It was my 1^st time there. Their burger combos (with fries and drink) are less than $ 10.00. I parked in the big lot behind the building. Plus, I took photos.

This place is Amazing. The food taste great and i am really satisfied with the quality of everything. They have different salsas and the chilies are out of this world.

Came in on a fluke, needed a quick bite on my way to someplace else. Had Huevos Rancheros and coffee. Beans and rice were good, eggs are a no brainer. The sauce is what makes the meal. It was a deeper red sauce, pretty spicy and not what I had expected so early in the day. Good stuff, but not my favorite sauce ever. Coffee was excellent.

Not very impress by the place. Well they do have a table with roasted veg. like onion and peppers. wow.

Grew up in El Monte and have been coming to this place for a long time through all the changes. Well I just went today and had possibly the most horrible experience I’ve ever encountered at a restaurant. 1^st off had to wait about 15 mins just to order then once we are done ordering the cashier let us know they are only accepting cash. There was no cook present and the prices were extremely high considering they still give plastic utensils and 3 tiny napkins for a family of 4. For the price I was charged today my family and I could’ve ate at a sit down place like Denny’s with customer service, free refills and use my debit card. The place is always dirty and from the lack of customer service I can tell these people could care less.

Everything is good here. …I love there family packs… super juicy yummy burgers… good fries… quick service. …they need a drive thru. .but it’s worth getting out the car every single time… love it… love it

I’ve been coming here for many years, albeit it, not religiously.
Good food, which include American and Mexican style breakfasts and let’s not forget their specialty: Burgers!
Go here if you like your typical ¼lb charbroiled burger joint; if you like Jim’s, Tom’s, Doubles, etc. then you’ll be fine stopping by.

The cheese burgers and fries here are very tasty and a good portion. I ordered a large onion rings and didn’t realize I paid $ 6 till it was to late. Yikes way over priced and Greasy. They close at 11pm but I walked in at 10:35pm and I wasn’t allowed to dine in. It would have to be a to go order.

This food was too bomb, however, the lady kicked is out of the diner because they were «closing early». Little did we know, she just didn’t want to RECLEAN the damn tables! Oh, AND she ate the whole time we were ordering!

Just came from this place,
First I dislike when they get my order wrong. I have to wait more what I want to.
Second the patties are incredibly small!
My party wasn’t happy either.
Chicken sandwich was burned
Omelette was burned, there was an egg shell in it and they topped it off with hamburger cheese… an omelette with two squares of cheese. Ew.
The fries are too salty I felt like I was getting diabetes by just tasting one!
Good if it’s the only place you can afford. Other than that wouldn’t come again.

I come here often because they offer a great family deal and it is very convenient for me when I’m looking for an order of burger and fries. It’s not the best looking place, but you get the best bang for your buck. The restaurant is pretty clean inside, but there’s work to do outside. Their trashcans outside can get really full to the point that it is over flowing. This place is located in a small plaza, so there’s plenty of parking.
Their family deal includes 4 regular burgers, 4 fries, and 4 drinks for $ 13.99. If you order the second family deal, it includes 5 cheeseburgers, 5 fries, and 5 drinks for $ 21.99. Their burgers aren’t gourmet, but you can’t complain for the price you pay. Their burgers are made to order and tastes like a burger you’d grill yourself at home… much better than those chain fast food joints like McDonalds or Burger King (in my opinion). Their fries are awesome! Across the street is Flames Express. I tried this place too. Their burgers are just as good as Tommy’s, but the deciding factor came down to their fries. I prefer the fries at Tommy’s because they’re thicker than the ones at McDonalds and they’re crispy. This place gives you plenty, too! On the condiment table, they have spicy chili peppers (I’m not exactly sure what they are called) and it’s unlimited. Hmm… these are awesome. You’ll know what I mean when you see them.
The service here is pretty good. It looks like it’s ran by a small family, so they do their best to keep their patrons happy. We’ve ordered to-​go and sat in to eat. Both times, they’ve been very nice in taking our orders and dropping off our food at our tables. They operate as a fast food, so you simply clean up and drop off your tray at the trash bins when you’re done.
I will continue to return here because it’s close by. I recommend this place if you’re in the area and need to pick up some grub quickly. I am giving this place 4 stars. I would increase this to 5, but I think they can do better on their patties. It’s a little on the thinner side, but like I said before. the places is very inexpensive, so I can’t complain.

This place is located across the street from another similar place and I find it interesting when two places sell exactly the same thing, have the same promos/​specials, etc.
FOOD — 3 Stars: The portions here are HUGE with an emphasis on HUGE. They give a lot of food. On a recent food run, I usually have a breakfast craving and with many places unable to provide breakfast food at 12PM because of a 10:30AM or 11AM cutoff, I opted to come here instead of Jack In The Box.
I had the pancakes and hash browns. Both were good, but it was nothing spectacular. I know that if I come here, I’ll get something high in calories which means it will taste good.
The breakfast burrito is very good here and I chose to not have beans in my burrito so that I could fully enjoy my eggs, hash browns, bacon, and cheese. It was oil dripping goodness. Again, it was nothing spectacular, but yet still good to eat.
They do have your normal burgers galore, french fries, onion rings, etc. You name it… they probably have it in this place.
SERVICE — 4 Stars: The staff is very friendly and quick. They’re very fast to get you your order, but it can take long to get your order. This all depends on the amount of people in the restaurant and how many other people have ordered food to-​go.
ATMOSPHERE — 2 Stars: This place is a bit run down for my tastes. An update wouldn’t be a bad idea, but I don’t think I would ever eat here unless I absolutely had to.
RECOMMENDATION: This will be a place that I will go to for an obvious cheat day or when I’m secretly going to eat buttery pancakes, but that will require a lot of gym time since the portion and calorie count is insane! But totally worth it. Haha.

Meh! I warned my fella that I didn’t like this place, but Saturday when he got hungry, he could not be deterred from wanting to try this place. Like many of my favorite California breakfast and lunch spots, their menu is beyond extensive. Unlike many of my favorite restaurants like Jim’s, The Hat or Tops, this place can’t do all the food on the menu well.
We ordered a breakfast plate for my mom and my fella and I shared a club sandwich. I didn’t think there was much chance of them messing up a club sandwich, but I was wrong. The deli meat they use is super cheap. They don’t use quality ingredients and that’s where they go wrong. I ended up taking all the sandwich meat out of my sandwich and just keeping the lettuce, tomato and bacon on for my own version of a BLT. The bread didn’t really keep together very well either. My mom said her breakfast was ok, but she’s had better, a lot better. The ham was not quality she mentioned, which didn’t surprise me.
I won’t be back and I finally convinced my fella that I’m almost always right! ;-)
