Items are well priced and the service is relatively fast. I recommend you not to come if you like quiet. Live bands can get loud or the music on the jukebox.

Horrible place to eat if you planning to go this place I promise it doesn’t worth your money, I had to throw away the whole food I order a shrimp cocktail and it has no flavor and the shrimps smells bad, I never ever going back to this place. Besides you need cash to pay otherwise you got to use the ATM which charges extra money.

A very good place to go eat seafood. I liked the aguachiles, and the sarandiado. I stopped by to eat for a couple of times and I have to say I really liked the langostinos & they have the best micheladas.

Terrible. I was in El Monte shopping and craving langostinos. I was going to drive to the Maywood location, but when I Unilocaled there was an Islas Marias less than two miles away. I called ahead and put in an order for 3 large orders of langostinos to go. The woman said they’d be ready in 20 minutes. I continued my shopping and arrived at the restaurant 30 minutes later. I still had to wait another half hour for them to be ready! When it was time to pay it was cash only. Wth. This is 2015. Only reason I see for you to be a cash only business is to evade taxes. But I was definetly charged taxes here. And when I asked for a receipt the waitress said they don’t give any. So unprofessional. The langostinos were not nearly as good as the maywood location. Bad service. Bad food. Bad appearance. Everything about this experience was terrible.

Tried this place years ago and wasn’t impressed, decided to give it a second chance and not good! Flavorless food, horrible service. Ordered a shrimp empanada that was spoiled and the way it was handled was horrible. The waitress insisted that was the normal taste, took forever to get a response from the owner. Waved the waitress down for my check and no acknowledgment, had to walk up to ask for it I told them i was not going to pay for the empanada. She didn’t charge me for it(I had to insist) but never again will i go back.

Place looks like it might be authentic but it’s just gross. The chips they gave us looked like they recycled and were left over from another table. Gross. We should have just left at that point. The rice tasted almost rancid. The side salad was slimmy like their shrimp. The chubby waitress was rude as heck. We didn’t complain nor eat the food. Paid and left. Fyi it’s cash only and gross.

Decent mariscos if you’re in the area. Stopped in for lunch after running around to have a few beers. Of course food wasn’t far behind since I hadn’t ate breakfast. I ordered ceviche that was ok. The molcajete was pretty good and probably one of the better ones I’ve had from other places. The service wasn’t the best. Took awhile to get refills on water and for the check to be received. I’d visit for the molcajete but only if I’m in the area. Not to drive a distance for. Lunch 5÷25÷2014

The food is good but the service isn’t great. Waitresses could be nicer. Went on a Sunday at 3:50 pm and the band was so loud that we had to leave. It was so loud that the waitress couldn’t hear us order and she got our food wrong. Our 3 year old wouldn’t take her fingers out of her ears to eat anything. When the food came and we explained that it wasn’t what we ordered they still charged us for the food. We packed up our food and took it home. Don’t think we’ll be back.

Terrible customer service. We went to eat at the restaurant with our daughter and soon after we sat down a full on Banda started playing in this small restaurant which was way too loud to the point that you can’t speak to the person next to you. Our daughter immediately plugged her ears and was having a terrible time. During the time that the band is playing the waitress comes to take our order but as you can imagine it proves to be impossible since we can’t speak to each other. We both point to what we want from the menu specifically pointing at «Medium» shrimp cocktails. When they showed up they where both large versions. I bring it up to the waitress that we ordered mediums and she starts basically putting up a fight that we didn’t order mediums. I bring up the fact that we did and maybe it’s bad business to be taking orders with this loud band as she can’t hear people’s orders. She tells me to hold on to try to figure it out. We sit miserably for a few minutes not knowing what to do. So I finally decided that we have had enough of this annoyingly loud band and bad service so I approached the cashier and tell her if they can just pack up the food and I will take it to go. Instead they just hand me containers. I get the bill which was overpriced because of the size difference and to add insult to injury they didn’t return my full change the bill was $ 35 and change and she just handed me $ 4 in change out of $ 40. I would have put up a fight if we could actually talk but of course since the band is playing I just walked away since I already had enough. Never again!

Came here today with the family. The food is great. Like many waitresses, some are polite others are not. I’d definitely recommend this restaurant to go out and eat with the family. The music just brings joy to the moment!

We got the Michiladas, oysters, shrimp tostadas and cocktail mixta. Our bill was only about $ 47. It’s not a fancy place and when the banda is there it’s a little loud. But the food is great!

After our lackluster experience at Ostionera Colima in La Puente for their campechana cocktail(seafood cocktail) and ceviche after raaaaving to Pinky how a person I follow here on Unilocal and other Unilocalers give it good reviews we were left full, but completely unsatisfied and underwhelmed. Later on during the day while cruising through El Monte Pinky had an epiphany… remembering a spot that had the best shrimp ceviche, so he claimed. After driving down Durfee we finally landed at a spot that looked familiar to Pinky.(Poor Pinky can never remember how to get anywhere even if he’s been going to that place for years, including friends’ houses.) As soon as we park I whip out my phone and check on Unilocal… 3.5 stars? Only? And the place looks dead… ummm I don’t know about this one… Walk in and the place doesn’t look too shabby with its colorfully painted walls, although I see some plastic party chairs in the dining area and the one or two tables of patrons just staring at the two non-chino chinos that just walked in. We order the shrimp ceviche to go which comes out to be $ 14, $ 14?!! When our order comes out it comes in a huge brown paper bag. We mosey over to Whatever Teahouse to meet Pinky’s friend and dig into the bag of the questionable $ 14 ceviche. Inside the bag we find the usual utensils, salt, limes and tapatio packets. We also find a whole bunch of tostada shells, at least 10 of them with the ceviche in a huge styrofoam soup container and a small container of some homemade green salsa. I’m starting to see where our $ 14 went. We open the soup container and on top of the ceviche we find 4 puny slices of avocado which I can’t deny I was bummed out about since I love avocados. it’s like nature’s healthy mayo/bone marrow. We crack off a piece of the tostada and top it off with some ceviche and some of that green salsa… then the moment of truth. The shrimps in the ceviche are a shade of opaque grey so you know they did it the legit way and used real raw shrimp while making the dish rather than preboiling them like most places. The juices are just right, no need for the extra salt packets, lime or tapatio… salty, sour, mildly spicy and refreshing. The homemade green salsa is where it’s at if you like really spicy food like Pinky and I do. I’m so jaded by restaurants warning me that something is spicy and maybe even too spicy for me suggesting I go for something lower in heat when in the end I have to pile on the chilis and hot sauce to even feel a tiny baby strength kick in my mouth. So of course, thinking I’m hot shit with the salsa I piled on that green stuff only to have my eyes water from the spicy pain in combination with my tears of joy. Writing this review is making me wonder why I haven’t gone back since that last time for some more ceviche. I can almost taste that sour saltiness of the sea at the back sides of my tongue. Yummers. I don’t know about the other reviews that say this place is a no go, maybe with the other dishes who knows, but you should try the ceviche for sure.

Amazing, fresh seafood, gargantuan portions, and prices so reasonable you’ll feel like you’re back in Mexico. Try the huacinango relleno, any of the ceviches, the campechana… you really can’t go wrong here. If your taste in Mexican food runs towards the more pedestrian, you can find all the standard fare here: tacos, burritos, quesadillas, etc. But the sign says mariscos for a reason, and if you’re not familiar with Nayarit-style seafood you’re in for a real treat. Hell, even if you are it’s still a treat: as fresh as if it just came off the wharf and one $ 15 entrée will leave you and your date stuffed and with leftovers. They also serve margaritas and micheladas to wash down your sumptuous feast. This place is a real gem.
