The fish nuggets… one of the most springy-est I’ve ever eaten and that Banh Canh is something else; I rarely see lumps of crab meat inside floating blissfully in such awesome broth! It may be something most people are not use to, but you eat it with a spoon and spoon only much like a stew. Highly recommend it!

Horrible, and dishonest method of business. I called in to order two dishes, small size, which were quoted at $ 25 each. When I came in this morning to pick up my order the cashier told me that my order will cost $ 65 in total even when I was personally quoted $ 25 per dish over the phone. Her explanation for this was that the employee that assisted me over the phone had quoted me the old prices in which she proceeded to charge me the higher price. I asked for a receipt, she told me that their machine was out of paper, take into consideration that the receipt that she provided me with was a generic written receipt that has no restaurant label that just stated, «[one dish] = $ 30 + [second dish] = $ 30 + tax = $ 5 = $ 65. I am almost certain that the $ 5 that I was charged in tax will definitely not be reported to the IRS and is just pocket money for them, as you can tell by my enraged tone, I am highly unsatisfied and disappointed in their lack of professionalism and their dishonest efforts to scam me. I do not recommend this restaurant.

Good place to stop by if you’re craving Hue food, which is central Vietnamese Food! the food here is great, if you know your Viet food! I always get Bun Bo Hue and a combo plate on the side. If you like Bun Bo Hue(Vietnamese version of spicy beef stew) I would recommend this place. If you are an avid Vietnamese foodie, you would notice the broth is a little sweeter than normal, but other than that its good! Only con about this place is that, if you are planning to go here during Lunch and Dinner prime-times, be prepared to wait. The servers sometimes forget when you request for additional things like more tea or whatever, but who doesn’t when they are under-pressure from the crowd.

I’ve been waiting over 30 minutes just for 2 plates of food. The table that came at the same time as us is almost done eating. Every time I ask them to check they would tell me ‘it’s coming out’. PLEASEWORKONYOURCUSTOMERSERVICE and don’t just walk away from your customers when they are asking for help.

I was first introduced to Kim Hoa Hue’s food when my uncle bought party trays for a family gathering. The food was so good that my family took a bunch home with us. Eventually our cornucopia of goodness ran out. We wanted more and my uncle referred us to this place. All of the food is good but I am especially in love with their banh nam, which doesn’t seem to be available anywhere else in the area. You can buy the banh nam to eat at the restaurant but I like buying it in bulk to eat at my leisure at home. It’s 60¢ each(used to be 50¢, my mother lamented), so it’s very affordable. The nuoc mam is perfect — sweet and savory, not too strong and not at all fishy. I find that they don’t give enough because I like to hit the sauce hard. They give a decent amount for people who don’t like to swab their food in sauce until it’s drowning. Luckily for me, I had my tiny Viet mom with me, which gave me some street cred. The owner gave me an extra(small-sized) container. It looks like this place closes for Lunar New Year every year. I called in around late February and got an automated message that they would be closed for a month. That meant I had to wait a couple of weeks to fulfill my banh nam craving. Parking is rough. There is a parking lot in the back but it’s a tight squeeze. That area of Garvey Ave is pretty busy and the curb is green, for pickup only.

This place is delicious with authentic food from south Vietnam. Prices are pretty good too, I think they only accept cash. Parking in the back is HORRIBLE actually because it’s so small. They have an avocado tree, lemon tree, lime tree and orange tree in the back too. Restaurant is nice and clean, not too big but not too small. It seems more like the size of a living room, dining room and bathrooms.

BESTBUNBOHUEINTHE626. Seriously, I’ve had a lot of bun bo hue in my life, considering I grew up in the 626 but there’s no place that makes it like this. The broth is so good, and there’s always a good amount of meat in the bowl. They have the best egg rolls and pork spring rolls. I never leave without eating egg rolls and spring rolls. My mom always gets party trays of the egg rolls and spring rolls when we have house parties. It really doesn’t get better than this. Everyone that my family and I have introduced to this place has always loved it. The food is fast and delicious. Service on the other hand really needs some help. They always forget about our table or we have to ask them multiple times for things. That or they completely forget. The service here really makes me mad sometimes but the food is really good so I forgive them.

I love the thit nuong here! Though I have not dined in here, I get takeout and banh it tran. The thit nuong was $ 7/pound, good for eating with bun or com tam. Very nicely charbroiled and meaty, not fatty pieces of pork. The banh it tran, unfortunately for my tastes, was not good. I expect banh it tran to have mung beans filling, but here there is not. The filling was only a piece of shrimp and a piece of pork belly, wrapped inside a glutinous mochi. Too small and untasty. It was $ 11.25 for 25 pieces. Next up, I wanna get the banh uot tom chay.

Food here is whatevers. It’s just convenient. There are so many other viet places in this area to choose from, I wouldn’t pick this as the top spot. I just ended up here because the one next door was closed.

Good Vietnamese food, specializing in Hue cuisine. Big bun bo hue was pretty huge, will order the regular size next time. Also had com hen(rice with clams) which was tasty with lots of crunchy bac ha, green apple slices, and cucumber.

Parking is a huge pain in my derrière. They lack any form of parking. I love the bun bo hue but that’s about it. My family ordered some party trays here. No thanks. I just don’t life how dry some of it turned out. The service is good but I wouldn’t make this my number one spot for many reasons.

Easy to miss. The parking can be a bit of an issue, but their food was worth it. I got my banh beo fix and shared a hue combo with my mom… so satisfied. Good stuff!

Soo little reviews but this place is pretty tasty with lots of unique flavors that I haven’t tried before! Kim Hoa Hue is a small little restaurant which looks family owned and operated. It was my first time eating here and to my surprise the beef porridge really hit the spot for me! It isn’t your typical porridge where it is thick and kind of creamy. It is more light with a meat broth and almost sort of like rice. It is the opposite of Hong Kong style Chinese porridge. I’m such a porridge lover that I totally loved the style of this one. If anyone is ever in SGV they should come down and try this cute little spot. Maybe you will love it too!

I saw this place on an instagram and hauled my butt down the 10. Between 3 guys we shared the following: Hue Combo — Like a sampler platter. This is a great opportunity to try different hue food, but it doesn’t include the banh ram it or banh it ram. So we got a separate plate. This combo was large enough to share and everyone got a chance to have a piece of everything. Banh Ram It — This is a pretty rare dish. It was doughy which is great, but the cracker was too large. When I bit into it, it felt like it scratched the roof of my mouth. Maybe if they use flatter crackers. Nem Nuong Spring Rolls — Pretty good, but nothing to travel out of the way for Bun Bo Hue — Solid dish, but definitely had to split between 3 guys when ordering a large. MMM so comforting. $ 30 before tax/tip for 3 guys? Great deal. Though I wouldn’t go out of my again to stop by. It’s perfect for the neighborhood.

My husband took me to this place to try out their Bun Bo Hue. I was impressed by the taste and the portion they provided. The service was great and fast. Price was wayyyy better than other famous Bun Bo Hue places. The only complain I have is the one way parking lot entrance plus the crazy drive to South El Monte. But definitely worthy the risk!!!

Once upon a few months ago, I tried some roll that I had never tried in my life… and I LOVEDIT! My mom told me that the roll came from this restaurant, and we finally checked it out yesterday. Saw that they had bunch of hue-style appetizers and decided to try a few. Banh Bot Loc La:(shrimp and pork engulfed by a clear tapioca and steamed in banana leaves) This one of my favorite Vietnamese food items EVAR and this place does not make it very good. It’s not bad, but it’s not good. *sad face* Cha Hue:(pork sausage wrapped in banana leaves and steamed) hard and cold *sad face* Banh Ram It:(a mochi dumpling filled with seasoned pork where the bottom is deep fried.) One of my besties introduced this item to me in NorCal, soo yummers when made correctly. What can I say about this dish here… disgusting! The lil fried portion at the bottom… was it fried in 10-day old oil? *barf face* The only saving grace about this entire meal was that roll thing… Banh Uot Cuon Thit Nuong. Soo good, the only reason why I would ever go back to this restaurant. There were actually quite a few other things I wanted to try on the menu, but based on this first sampling experience, I am afraid to try.
