It’s such a shame that this place closed. I have such good memories of this place with my grandparents. They used to take me here for lunch or dinner if it were a special occasion(like the time they bought a brand new convertible sebring. yay) The waitress was always the same, kind hearted woman who would ask about our family and we would ask about hers. The service was always fast and speedy and we never had problems with out orders. This place was never really packed but there were always people. more like the usuals. the customers who were addicted to this place which had a certain charm about it. It just gave off that good taste place. A kind of restaurant thats been around for years, an upscale place without the upscale prices. The food was delish. The steaks were what this place was raved about. Juicy, tender and mouth watering. They always had deals. The meals would include a steak, baked potato, veggie and soup or salad. I always left her full and had a good amount of leftover without breaking the bank. Its such a shame that it had to close.

My boss took me here because this place will be closing this month. =( very very sad. Their roast beef sandwiches are delicious, never had better. This place has been here over 60 yrs, very sad to see it close.

I’m rating the bar ONLY because I’ve never had a meal there. I work down the street from Ed’s so every once in awhile we get the urge for strong cheap drinks to help wash our job-stresses away. Happy Hour holds $ 4 select super-strong drinks, my fave… the lemondrop… it’s really yummy(read: strong!). They also have ½ off appetizers… try the Irish Nachos! The staff is awesome! Don’t forget to get your Ed’s VIP card, lol… costs a couple bucks and you can earn free drinks… just for drinking!

They served me bloody chicken wings. Good enough review?

My coworker ordered fried chicken. It was placed in front of me. She grabbed a piece and there was a pool of blood left on the plate. As she put the bird to her mouth blood was dripping on the table. I;m sitting in silence completely grossed out while she takes a few bites. then she puts the bird in my face and ask if there is blood on it. I freaked the fuck out because there was blood on her lips. I went and told the very nice server there is something wrong with my friends food. He told me to put it on the empty plate in front of me. I move the bird with the fork and seen more blood. I told him i was not going to do that and he took the plate away. Tell me why… the… fuck… this guy brings the food back a few minutes later. The same darn bird. They re-fried it and there on the plate was that same piece that had her bite marks in it. At this point I was ready to go… until I realized it was happy hour. 3 more lemon drops please. Happy hour 3pm-7pm. cocktails $ 4 and half price appetizers. Don’t eat the birds. *I only wrote this review because I keep thinking about it. It makes me itch and just freaks me out. Hopefully, this review will put some closure on that horrid experience.

If you want some great meat at decent prices, come here. If you are on a diet, do not come here! The food here is delightful! I always get the fried chicken and chips for an appetizer! The pasta salad is so-so. The prime rib is great because it isn’t too tough and it is very tasty. My father gets the prime rib because it’s easy for him to chew. We usually bring our own wine too– sometimes we get charged for it, sometimes we don’t. Just talking about this is making me hungry!!!

Been coming here since I was a little kid with my family, and when my Mom is in town, we sometimes go back for old times sake. It’s an old-style steakhouse with a turn-of-the-century theme and sawdust on the floor. Believe it or not, I’ve never actually had the«real» steaks per se, so I can’t comment on those, but when I was a little kid my parents would always order me the«Lily Langtree» off of the child’s menu, which is pink slices of roast beef served with thick steak fries, both items sitting in a pool of au jus on the bottom of the plate … I’ve always loved it! Makes my mouth water just thinking about it. It also comes with a side of horseradish, but I rarely use that. As an adult, I graduated to the«Scarlet Lady», which is essentially the same exact dish, but in adult portions. Also comes with soup or salad and of course the bread basket. If you prefer your roast beef more on the well-done side, that’s the«Lumber Jack». Service has always been remarkable here! They are extremely attentive, and they will often remember you if you come back, even if the last time was months ago! There is a full bar here as well, which is sometimes quite a scene, and I’ve heard they even have karaōke on certain nights. You’ve probably seen this place right off the south side of the 10 freeway in El Monte. Exit at Flair.

Being that i’ve lived in El monte for virtually all my life, i always passed by this place on the 10 frwy. Been there thrice i think. Lemon drop: Handmade, with a slice of lemon skin floating inside. Previously i ordered a lemon-drop, and when they serve it, they bring it in a martini shaker, but previously, they would serve it, and inside the shaker, there would be enough leftover for a refill and they would leave the shaker at your table ’til it was empty. So my only complaint is that last night, there was barely enough liquid to fill my glass once. No refill. I guess they are downsizing portions b/c of the economy? Bread rolls: They serve complimentary sourdough and squaw bread rolls, they are just ok, served with butter, and apple butter. They are tight with the bread rolls by the way, only 1 a person each basket! I must recommend their Calamari steaks as an appetizer. They are served hot, perfectly crispy and the slices are pretty big! Love it! Served with tartar and cocktail sauce. I would go here just for the calamari! More on sides: Do not get the«Ranch» dressing for their salads, they have tweaked it so that it has a lemony taste to it, just reminds me of spoiled milk. INEdible! Last time i ordered their steamed veggies: way too soft and overdone= for old people with dentures. My husband and i both ordered the John L. Sullivan, a 12 oz NY steak. One thing i noticed is that the cook, cooked the steaks perfectly as asked for. My medium well was still juicy, had a little pink and a little brown. Delish! I ate the whole thing! I also ordered the seasoned spinach, and baked potato. No complaints there! Loved the crust kind of crispy on the outside. I read a review about Edward’s serving shoe-string fries, that is true but they also have Steak-cut fries. Service wasn’t the best, the waitress was off somewhere as my drink lay empty for a good 10 minutes. Side note, the drinks are packed with ice so that there is hardly any drink and you need a refill pretty soon. Décor: A little creepy and this place is definitely frequented by senior citizens. Old black and white photos from the late 1800’s/early 1900s of people, places and other things. The place is all decked out in Valentine gear, teddy for Vday. It just looks like an old steakhouse from the 40s that hasn’t really been updated. There is saw-dust on the concrete floor. Hey if you’re looking for a pretty good pan-fried steak, then this is the place to go but don’t expect to be wowed by their side dishes. {1 lemon drop= 6.95, 1 soda = 2.50, 1 order calamari= 8.75,(2) 12 oz, John L. Sullivan NY steak with soup or salad, and 2 sides= 20.50 each}. = Grand total including tax: $ 65.27 I would definitely go here again, it’s close to home and after work, i’m tired!

An older traditional steak house that based on my visit was frequented by older customers. French Fry Review: They served essentially McDonald’s or supermarket shoestring fries. A very small portion provided, avoid this place.

Gotta tours of the joint. …all the way to the back of this place… I ordered Edwards House Steak… It cames with seven fries… and a small bowl of chili… and two bread rolls. Chili was cool, but small. White roll was great… but small. I’m so far in the back, I can’t find my way out. Overall it’s an OK place

I was always curious about this place. I’ve seen it all the time as I’m driving by on the freeway, but I was never sure if it was open or abandoned. Finally I decided to give it a try. It’s just like any other steakhouse i’ve been to, the kind where you throw peanut shells on the floor. I believe I had the NY steak that I can hardly remember. So that says something about the entire meal. What I do remember the most is their decorations. I found the old black and white photos to be somewhat creepy. I don’t need old photos of people eyeing me as I eat. The waitress was attentive and very informative of the menu and had some knowledge of the history of the restaurant. I’d come back if I wanted something cheap and filling. It is certainly not a fancy date spot for steak lovers like me. But if you’re hungry for steak and happen to drive by, exit the freeway and go for it. But if you miss the exit, don’t freak out and just keep driving. You won’t be missing too much.

Having driven by this place on the 10 fwy for nearly all of my life, I finally decided to give it a shot. So a buddy and I had dinner on a Tuesday night. The food was unremarkable, nothing horrible. Our drinks were strong and they had a nice TV to watch the game in the bar area. Nothing would have attracted us to go back, but when a baby cockroach was floating in the glass of water my buddy ordered after his meal, we knew for sure we would never be going back!

Edward’s Steakhouse is within walking distance of my work and I have gone about 8 times in the past few years. Every time I have gone it’s been during lunch and I have no complaints about it. While the food itself isn’t five stars, it’s very good and reasonably priced. The staff is always friendly and they keep your cups filled. If you’re in El Monte and need a decent place to eat, Edward’s is the spot.

Trying to find a decent establishment in El Monte was hard. Especially if you are driving around a geriatric near deaf business associate who is really picky where he eats – «no roach coaches or sushi». I guess he pulled this name from out of the old memory and off we were. Trying to find the place was difficult but after making the correct exit we made it into the near full parking lot adjacent to the restaurant. I remember ordering a large ribeye – at least larger than the lunch one they offered. Somehow a 6oz steak doesn’t seem like it’ll fill up a man my size. I also ordered cream spinach, mixed veggies and a potato. My partner ordered a lunch special with the 6oz steak. A fruity waiter took the order to the back and we waited for our salads. I had a glass of Stella as i waited for my food and Uncle Pecos had a martini. By this time Uncle Pecos was getting restless and was starting to get ency with the fruity waiter. Finally our food came out. My steak was small and cooked to order. The sides were fine but nothing to write home about. Uncle Pecos steak looked more like a medallion than a decent cut of meat. I think he probably finished it in 3 bites. I was glad I wasn’t paying for this junk.

Aww, why did my Mom and my Aunt take me and my gf here? To make us sad or to make us appreciate good food? I think it was the latter. Well, it’s a steakhouse and what do you order? A steak of course! Got the Edward’s Supreme Steak b/c it said; An all-time favorite New York Cut steak, since 1946! I wanted it to be my favorite too, but it didn’t want to be my friend. I got a thin and chewy piece of meat w/alot of fat on it, super disappointing. The clam chowder was a little on the clear/translucent side. The steak fries were just regular old steak fries. The plate on which the steak came on was flooded w/juices which was weird, I think the cooks added that to help if your steak was dry. The best thing I had was the little chili side that came w/my steak, had a lot of flavor and had ground steak instead of hamburger meat. The chili saved this place from one star. Good job chili! Thanks for the«nice» dinner Mom and Auntie, but gf and I won’t be coming back.

Damnit, they need to trim the tree outside because I can’t see the oval sign wishing whatever couple or family who’ll be dining there that week. Edward’s seems to have a lot of parties because every week the sign changes with various congratulations. It can be seen off the 10 freeway, going east. I don’t know why that sign fascinates me so much. Do people really care about Aunt Estelle’s 67th birthday or the silver wedding anniversary of strangers? I have dined there once. It was unmemorable steak. Very old school steakhouse that’s pretty cheap made even cheaper with a coupon printed on the back of a supermarket receipt(I had a frugal ex).

Edward’s Steak House has gotta be the best place ever!!! Like my friends and I always say, it’s a place that reminds us of the tv show«CHEERS,» where everyone knows your name. I’ve been known to frequent the fine establishment every now and then, and yes, everyone DOES remember your name and yes, we do have a dude named«NORM» that’s there too! As you enter the restaurant, there’s two distinct sides — the right side is the«dining» area and the left side has a private party section, and then the bar with 3 large flat screen tv’s. Ahhh… bar with 3 tv’s. Yes, you read that right. It’s great to go there when a game is going on, especially multiple games. During football season, there’s always Monday Night Football specials — it’s a great night when they have OLGA’S FAMOUSTACOS!!! They’re sooo yummy and they even sell out! They have other mouth-watering appetizers available at the bar: calamari strips, fresh homemade potato chips, beef/chicken brochettes, chicken wings(dry or «wet»), and oh-so-yummy-for-my-tummy chili cheese fries! And on top of that, there’s even pretzels and fresh popcorn available all day — for FREE! Oh, and there’s the restaurant side as well. I can’t forget about that. I’ve had various items on the menu, from the appetizers, to the salads and main dishes. The steaks are great, as well as the seafood dishes. Well, other than the items I’ve mentioned above, I’ve had the Alaskan halibut platter, Olga’s garden salad with scallops, Caesar salad with chicken, prime rib sandwich, tilapia, the miniature cut steak, clam chowder and split pea soup. Everything I’ve had, I have definitely LOVED! Definitely no complaints here! And last, but definitely not least, THEEDWARD’S STAFF. They’re so wonderful. From the host(ess), the waiters/waitresses, bartenders, the kitchen crew who come around picking up the dishes at different stations in the restaurant, and to the owner — they always make you feel like you’re family. They always try their best to accommodate your needs and do it with a smile. =) I can honestly say that I have NEVER been to a restaurant that makes me feel so at home.

I took my friend here for his birthday yesterday. Boy were we disappointed by the food but the service was GREAT. I especially appreciated the fact that no matter which table you’re at, all the waiters/waitresses take care of you. Though, I might have liked them better if there were peanuts to go with that sawdust on the floors ;P I had the ribeye medium rare with a side of chili and spinach and my friend had the filet mignon with a side of mashed potatoes and vegetables. At best, my ribeye came out medium well and as time passed, it became a well done steak *SIGHS* My friend’s filet mignon came out medium and stayed that way, so I guess that’s a tad better than mine. He didn’t like the flavorlessness of the steak and I could’ve done without it tasting like the fridge. The spinach was okay and the chili was very good. My friend’s mashed potatoes were very creamy and his vegetables were much too cooked. They didn’t look soft but they were, such sadness. We both got the salad with our meal and it was just some red cabbage with iceberg lettuce. I really liked my natural herb dressing but my friend’s vinegrette was way too sour =X Their bread would’ve been fabulous paperweights and well… I won’t be going back unless it’s happy hour ;P Their website has old pricing and the food is actually a good couple of dollars more expensive now. And it’s easily accesible, just take the Rosemead exit out and go towards Pasadena, there’s a Flair St. exit in there.

Visible from the 10 Freeway in Rosemead, this place has been a landmark in the area for years. It’s not easily accessible, since you have to take surface streets to get to an area that used to be dominated by the aerospace industry, which is where you’ll find Edwards. It’s not a fancy place by any means, but it’s nice to go somewhere where you can feel comfortable. To me, this place gives off a vibe that harks back to the days when people used to go out for a 2 martini lunch, with a big ol’ steak on the side. Whatever happened to the days where people used to «have one for the road»? I’ve only had sandwiches here for lunch(I’ve never been here for dinner), but my favorite was this prime rib sandwich that was fantastic. It’s good enough to eat once a week, but I don’t think my heart would be up for the challenge, literally. I’d probably need to bring a doctor’s note, just to verify that I was physically capable of handling the bounty I was about to receive. You can sign up for their birthday club, and they will send you a coupon every year for your birthday. It’s kind of hokey, but I appreciate the fact that a business goes out of their way to acknowledge their customers, when most the time, other places can give a damn about you.
