We went to Café C about 10 years after we dined at the original Café. We went on a Wed night. We were greeted by GM Jeff Watson(our server 10 years ago). We had the Oso Bucco, the salmon burger and the pork. Food was artfully prepared and tasty. The service attentive and gracious. We were among 9 total guests we saw all evening. Very little energy or «vibe». Seating is awkward…

Burnt crab cakes and chicken so hard and rubbery I could barely cut it with a knife. Wasn’t a big fan of the previous version of this place but had to try new one at least once. Not sure how both the chef and waitress would be ok with the food that was brought to the table. There won’t be a second visit.

They were doing construction while we were eating, hammering and drilling. They also had ladders and tools out and the food was boring! Won’t go back!

This is a mixed review. Sorry it’s so long winded. I travel and entertain clients across the US. I eat at high end restaurants often when I entertain. This includes food and wine/beer. I say that because the following I have never experienced anywhere in the US. We had dinner here about 10 days ago here. New location up street from old location. Truthfully I was never a fan of the old place(food or drink) The food was fair and wine and beer selection marginal at best. Since we have friends who like this establishment we decided give the new location a try. My wife had the Mediterranean salad $ 12.95 and asked if she could add chicken. We get the bill and they charged us $ 18.95EXTRA for putting chicken on the salad!!! Total price for the salad $ 31.90(truth) we were stunned. My wife was so upset at the ‘rip off’ she swore never to return. So as luck would have it one of her friends had a birthday celebration at Café C tonight. Her friend is a regular at this place. She attends the celebration at Café C. When my wife brings bill and confronts owner he shows her they have corrected the pricing and now charge $ 5.95 for chicken. He goes on to tell her he normally didn’t have chicken for salad it was special(BS) but they magically have it now? Oh and my wife’s friend normally gets chicken there on her salad. Here’s the kicker… the owner NEVER offered to refund the difference! No apology, nothing. So besides the food being marginal, and the wine and beer list marginal,(at best) the situation I described above is not only unprofessional but we really felt we were ripped off. I have friends that really like Café C. They very much enjoy the food. There are a couple of tvs great for watching sports, in the new location. The bar is open and rustic, actually very nice atmosphere. The new location is a much better vibe vs old location. We had a very negative experience, the owner knew this, yet didn’t even offer to refund the overcharge from $ 18.95 down to $ 5.95 for chicken, no apology and he will never get us back again or any of my clients. I am an owner/founder of a medical device company, with our corporate office in EL Dorado Hills. I will never bring a client back to this establishment. We had a very unpleasant experience.

Not sure where to begin… interior is funky. Basically a bar with tables with one small section separated for what I’m guessing is supposed to be for fine dining or for those who don’t want to dine in a bar. Outside dining separated with a funky wood fence. Surprised to see something so tacky — maybe at a barbecue joint but not a French café. Service the night we were there was handled by the bartender. He was obviously overwhelmed and kept telling us the regular waitress was already a half an late. The food was okay. I started with a small green salad and tried their watery funky version of cassoulet. The beans were very tasty but the sausage was added after and plopped on top instead of cooked in with beans. My husband ordered the French onion soup and it was very good and not overly salted. He also ordered the steak salad that was very good but a small portion.

Café C is one of the best restaurants in EDH! Jeff the bartender is the best in the region and the food is awesome. Can’t ask for a better friendly atmosphere with great folks and atmosphere.

We went mid week… came back the following week because it was so good. I had Oso Bucco… it was phenomenal. Husband had pork medallions, he said they were great. Next week I had Beef Borg., he had the burger… both did not disappoint. I would go back in a minute. We want to explore more of the menu. Waitstaff was attentive.

EARLYTOAST in El Dorado hills is fantastic. It was super crowded at 10:00 am Sunday morning and I walked up and the very gracious host said«would you like to sit inside or outside» I chose inside and I was seated immediately at a nice table for 4! I was sure I would have to wait. I ordered and my delicious eggs bacon and regular waffle were great. Eggs were perfectly cooked«easy«! As I had requested. There must have been 4 servers waiting on me all with big smiles and great customer service attitudes. Great place. I will be back!

Years ago I loved Café C in its original location. It was easily my favorite restaurant in this area. The service was great and the steak fritas was always perfect. Over the years, the service became okay and the cooking seemed less«dead-on» and more«close enough.» We stopped going. We tried their new location and were left with the«almost-good-enough» feeling. The food was generally good, but my son’s medium rare burger came out clearly well done. Not even close to medium rare. My dad and I ordered medium rare steak fritas(rib eye) and they were medium… pinkish but clearly over cooked. The service service was friendly but super slow. 15 minutes to get a replacement for my son’s dirty glass of water. 15 minutes from taking a drink order until the order actually arrived(…when we were close to finished). There were a few other serving irritations. As far as I could tell, there were two waitresses plus the bar tender on a fairly busy Saturday night – simply not enough to provide good service. So…I doubt we’ll be back for anything more than drinks. It wasn’t bad, but there are definitely better options.

If you want a. taste of Paris bistro food just down the street from your own home, come to Café C. It’s a notch above everything EDH and you can come as you are! Fun place for a special occasion or you can bring the kids and teach them what fries are supposed to taste like!

We are regulars to Town Center in El Dorado Hills every weekend. Our favorite restaurant is still Café C. They recently moved to a newer location right by the Theater. Their happy hour before a show is great. I love it for«Date night» on Thursdays !

Not sure where to begin… Ambiance is a 0. Service is slow at best and food was like something you would expect from chill’s… Good luck, made the mistake of trying this place on our anniversary… Wouldn’t recommend to my worst enemy. I love El dorado Hills, however we need some help with Restaurants. Look forward to new restaurant coming in, maybe they will step up their game or go out

Saw prior review and were cautious but we actually like a lively place so that worked well as the place had a great vibe we thought. My wife and I couldn’t choose between the Salmon Filet and Steak Frites, so we ordered both and shared. The plates were hot, not just in temperature but in quality and we’ll be back often, as we found our local spot!

Went in for a nice birthday dinner but there were so many people at the bar it was too noisy to enjoy it. The restaurant is very small so there’s no separation between the bar and dining area. How could there be only one waitress working on a Saturday night!!! Dinner was brought out one plate at a time and we waited nearly 10 minutes for the final dish to be brought out(there were only three of us). So why was it cold? Several couples came in then left immediately when they saw how small and loud it was.
