First time experience, I would say don’t have extremely high expectations about the greeting process. It’s a little corner lot just North of Pacific East Mall. In fact you can go through the parking lot and out the side/back and see the gym from that angle much better. I walked in and you have to walk through a gym area with no representatives to even get to the front desk. At the front desk there were 3 – 4 guys all in the middle of conversation and so being acknowledged took a bit longer than it should have. I felt like more of a burden then a welcomed new potential longtime client. I was instructed to fill out their waiver form, which is what I arrived early for with a pen ready. No pen required it’s all electronic and they are set up pretty high so if you were on the shorter side you might have some problems. They do NOT have paper versions of this waiver. Also once you submit you do not get a copy of the waiver, even if you ask for one. I think that’s pretty crappy in this day and age why would you not offer a copy of a legal document to the person completing it if they asked??? I was here from a GroupOn for a massage with Sonja. She greeted me while I was in the midst of my frustration with their waiver process… she stayed pleasant though! After all the paperwork was completed I properly introduced myself to Sonja and followed her to the massage room. It’s private and locked. has its own bathroom which is nice and clean. The table is a standard massage table — not electric — so it doesn’t raise and lower for the comfort of the massage therapist or the client. There’s music played through Sonja’s iphone and it helps drown out some of the gym noise… but apparently there is a workout area directly above the massage room and they get pretty loud. Sonja is a wonderful massage therapist. Took the time to really ask questions and answer all given questions. She’s very very welcoming and great at deep tissue massage! I would give Sonja a 4⁄5 but the experience in it’s entirety and location and such drops this down to a 2⁄5. Unfortunately due to my experiences with the front desk, lack of legal documentation upon request, and the noise level. I will not be returning. I wonder if Sonja has a private practice on the side and more reasonable pricing going through her directly!?!

So far I had one massage with Ade and three massages with Sonja. After injuring my back I needed a massage therapist that really knows what they’re doing. Being a member at Bridges(I don’t climb, but really enjoy their Yoga classes — great deal by the way!), I thought I’d give it a try. Honestly, I’m not going anywhere else anymore. Both therapists were wonderful, knowing exactly where my back needed work and when they needed to back off. They were also very thorough in asking about my injury and even gave me tips about how to help the healing with exercises, sauna etc.

I went into Bridges last week to get a massage with Sonja. The massage room is located in the rock climbing gym which would be awesome if I liked climbing but I hate climbing. I mean really what’s the point? You go all the way up and then come all the way down? I bet people that like climbing like elevators to. Anyways the massage room is chill and the massage was great. Sonja was attentive to the slight injuries that I had(despite loathing rock climbing I do work out) and really worked out some knots. I left the gym feeling refreshed, revived and ready to take on the world. I’m stoked about coming back and already booked another appointment for next month! Kaboom!

I go to Bridges for indoor rock climbing, bouldering, and tried slack lines, too. I didn’t know they offer massage until I saw a deal on Groupon — package of 3 massages for a really good price. It took me a year to use up all 3 because I was so busy. I was happy that they have a system to track your appointments and all you have to do is to check in — no hassle whatsoever, even when you’re running late. I’ve had 3 different masseuse for that one year duration and they’re all amazing! Roxy no longer works there and I forgot the name of the second guy and I had Andy on my third appointment. I enjoy conversing with ALL of them because they give me a lot of pointers on the human body that I started appreciating Anatomy. They all have amazing hands and really know how to break those knots and work with your sore muscles. I was having knee problems on my first visit from running a marathon and Roxy did a great job to get me up to speed with my recovery. With Andy, I was in so much stress that my head/shoulder/back was in pain and he got it back in good shape — so relaxing, just wanted to sleep after that. I’ve had many massages from all over bay area and Bridges is definitely on my top 3 for affordability, quality, and service. I’m really glad that they are close to my work so I can squeeze in a lunch time appointment or so. Just a note, don’t expect a SPA ambiance on your way in(no orchids, dark hallway, relaxing music, or those scents). This is a rock climbing gym and they have a room for massage appointments. I love the setting though since I’m into climbing. The room itself is clean and relaxing and they do play relaxing music. You can even bring in your own, if you want. Also, Bridges has a small parking lot and the Pacific Mall parking at their end is always packed so street parking by the residential works best when you’re running late. I feel bad that I just had a chance to review them but I’m making it up by booking another appointment :) They should really advertise more. There’s a lot of crappy massage spa salons and those places were just a waste of time and money. I highly recommend Bridges Massage and I just hope that they keep up their amazing staff of knowledgeable masseuse that can really deliver great massage! I would probably go back to this review and give them a 5 star after a couple more appointments.

Christina’s massages are amazing. She really understands the human body in a way that allows her to observe what yours is doing, how things are connecting, what’s hurting you, and then zero in on what she needs to do to help you. And then her hands and her technique are so strong. The massages are not for the faint of heart, though. If you just want to relax and have someone rub your back, this may not be the massage for you. But if you’re like me and need help breaking up scar tissues, releasing knots, or regaining range of motion in a certain area, it’s amazing. It hurts so good. In one session Christina helped me really release my rhomboids and spinal erectors.

Christina, my massage therapist, was really good. She has 5 years of experience, and definitely knows what she’s doing. I have back/shoulder pain/soreness, since I work all day on the computer and have bad posture, and she definitely helped point things out, and work my muscles quite well, including some of the scar tissue that I’ve accumulated over the years. I’d definitely recommend Christina for people who have muscle pain/soreness, especially if you’re a climber, or even if you just work at a computer all day. Update: I got massages from Andy and Ade, and like them both a lot. My go-to is now Ade — he is really strong(too strong that I had to tell him to go a little lighter) and gets at the right area. Bridges doesn’t have a spa like relaxing atmosphere, but it does have people who know how to work on my muscles when I’m sore!
