I have been a customer of Wally’s since 2004 and have bought all our ground cover, shrubs and cactus for our yard. He has the best prices, knowledgeable and very helpful. Best of all all, his plants are all for our zone/climate area. Love supporting local business and especially when the owner is involved and welcoming!

Okay… so I finally got in here and bought some Giant Birds of Paradise!!! They are beautiful… Make sure you ask them to mark the trees you choose… while you are looking and shopping, ask them for strings to mark the ones you want! I had these beauties delivered at a very low cost… I also like how they come in wooden boxes that you can keep… also… these trees I got were almost 10 to 11 feet tall… and about three feet wide… also… they are acclimated to the area to where I live. and that is a big plus… Can not wait to go buy some more trees(tree addiction anyone?)

I was surprised to meet the Wally from this place and he was wonderful. He’s attentive, knowledgeable and funny. And he has a great selection of fruit trees. He has cara cara orange trees! This is my new favorite nursery.

I can’t believe it took me so long to find this place. It is perfect. The selection, the prices, and Wally’s incredible wealth of knowledge make this my most favorite nursery ever. I am a fan of Exotic Gardens on El Cajon Blvd in University Heights for its unique selection of succulents, Walter Andersen on Enterprise and Mission Hills Nursery on Ft. Stockton for their history and selection of small and medium plants, and Evergreen Nursery for its grand size and selection of large landscaping. But Wally has the best of these all wrapped up in his not so little world out in El Cajon. He is a fascinating fellow with an amazing breadth of knowledge about all things growing and those growing and selling them in San Diego. He can help you pick the right plants for your location and needs which can prevent a lot of wasted work, expense and heartache. Wally will make sure you understand what you are buying, what to expect from it, how to plant it, and how to take care of it. If you are creating a new space or just rounding one out, it is well worth your time to talk to Wally before you spend your hard work and money.

I have known and purchased plants from Wally for the past 9 years. The plants are amazingly hardy as they are acclimated to the climate in the East County. He also carries unique specimens of succulents, hardy fruit trees and colorful shrubs not fount at other nurseries. I’ve landscaped front and back with drought– tolerant plants. Extremely knowledgeable about plants and soils in the county; Wally and staff remember you when you visit again(& again).

Great nursery and knowledgeable staff. Wally has been a wealth of information to me since I moved out of an apartment and started planting fruit trees and flowering shrubs on my land 2 years ago. I wish all small businesses were run like this one. You won’t get this service, selection or quality from Home Depot or Lowes. Promise!

My condolences to the previous reviewer. I understand that it’s frustrating when you go through the time and labor of putting in new plants simply to have them die on you. But really? Do you know much about gardening at all? Who puts in plants with an even remote chance of impending frost… I don’t think I want to write anymore about this lack of oxygen use. I like Wally and his nursery. No he doesn’t have annuals, so go to Armstrongs for that. But if you want succulents, palms, trees and small shrubs… he’s gotcha covered. He remembers my name when I come back to buy more plants(which have ALL survived, I might add), and he does a great job of giving you alternative ideas if he doesn’t have exactly what you’d like. He provides delivery for a small fee, and coupled with the low prices of his inventory… you won’t need to shop anywhere else to find the plants that will help to complete you landscape project. Just don’t plant them the night before a frost.
