Rubes always comes in clutch when I need a non-Saritas/Hilbertos burrito. Baja Grill chicken burrito is my go-to and I recommend it. Consider this an «in-review» tip. The staff is always great, especially Hugo who has been there for some years and seems to remember everyone. Although Luna Grill is right next door, Rubio’s gives you a better meal for your buck, so you can’t go wrong there. OH and the fish tacos are great.

Rubio’s is always my first stop when I’m in CA. Always. Some people go nuts over a burger from in and out, but me? I go nuts over Rubio’s fish tacos. Heck! My friends knew I arrived safe and sound back on the mainland when I posted a pic of fish tacos on FB. I still don’t know why this chain can’t migrate over to the east coast… completely baffles me to no end. This location was close to where I was staying and fit the bill nicely. I ordered the two fish taco platter and treated myself to som refreshing mango flavored unsweetened iced tea. Is it just me, or did these tacos start getting bigger? I liked the littler ones better, but you can’t beat that unmistakable baja flavor! I’m getting a little luckier finding(read making them at home) fish tacos, but I still crave Rubio’s in the fiercest way!

Overpriced and mediocre at best. Was disgusted with seeing a tip cup at register, doesn’t this fast food chain pay their employees? Imagine how well it would be received if all fast food chains put in tip jars? Won’t be back to Rubios. would rather tip at a real taco shop with better food and prices.

By far the best rubios location! Food and service are always on point! You can never go wrong with the salsa verde shrimp tacos but if you’re looking to get a good cheat meal in you have to get the chicken nachos!

Mahi fish tacos grilled are the best in town. I’ve been here on multiple occasions in found the same thing customer service seems to be good but the last time that I went the beans seem to be a little cold five stars for my last five visits but this last pass visit was probably just a three to the coldness of the beans. Great location right next to the movie theater now so the YMCA gym would recommend haven’t read much of anything else but they do serve beer which is a plus.

This location happens to be located next to the Edwards Theater and we popped in before the movie to save on paying the high prices inside the theater. Location: 4 Simply due to the parking and convenient proximity to the theater. There is a lot of parking as it is located in a large strip mall with external businesses. Atmosphere: 3 It’s lay out and décor is just like every other chain restaurant. The basics which do nothing to set it apart from the competition. Customer Service: 3 The same half smiles from the staff who seem to hate their job. It’s the typical food service worker. Food: 1 There is no coming back from pulling out a long curly dark brown/black hair 2 bites in. I nearly vomited on my plate. It was absolutely disgusting. This made me look to the kitchen staff who appeared as unsanitary as they come. I could immediately identify who the hair came from. Her uniform was filthy it appeared she hadn’t showed in a week, not to mention she appeared to be sweating profusely. The entire staff was not wearing proper hair nets or masks to cover facial hair. I put my meal down and walked out. My family followed suit because it disgusted them as well. Price: 2 I put this at below average when compared to the mom and pop places where price vs. taste and quality equate. At most mom and pop Mexican places you get a huge burrito for about $ 5. I paid $ 6.99 for a mini version of those«mom and pop burritos» that tasted mediocre(not that I want to remember tasting it). Cleanliness: 1 This is based off the looks of the kitchen and staff. The lounge was semi clean but he back looked filthy.

You can’t tell me you’re from San Diego if you don’t know what a pesky combo is. I love Rubios and I have been a regular ever since my mom started taking me here as a kid. I love the fish tacos from here, but who doesn’t? The lobster burrito is a seasonal favorite, but it is certainly worth the wait(and the $ 9 price tag.) Rubios has a little of everything, you can grab a foreign or domestic bottle of beer with your tacos, add some rice and beans, get yourself a bag of chips and descend upon the salsa bar… you can sit in the back in a booth, you can grab an umbrella and sit outside. The people at this location are always friendly. The restaurant is always clean or being cleaned every time I have ever been in there. They keep the salsa bar full and wiped down. The fountain drinks here are usually brisked well and have plenty of carbonation. I recently learned that you can also order dessert here! Check out the photos from my last visit.

Stopped in for lunch with the girls. While I love the chipotle ranch salad with shrimp at Rubio’s, I was not a fan of it here! At 1st glance, it looked as yummy as always, then I found the dressing! Basically I had ranch dressing with a side of salad… no good. Unfortunately, the shrimp was even worse! It was extremely salty. The service was great, the restaurant was clean, and a good location with plenty of parking. I would give this location another try but next time I’ll be sure to ask for the ranch on the side and maybe chicken instead of shrimp! Ps. I’m not big on sweets big something told me to get the caramel chocolate brownie… OMG! Freaking amazing!(Didn’t last long enough to take a pic, sorry!)

Stopped by to get some dinner after watching a movie on sat 12⁄26 at 8:20. We stood by the register as a young lady ignored us and chatted through a window to her friend in the kitchen. Since we weren’t neither acknowledged, not even offered a verbal assurance that our business was welcomed, we decided to go to Luna Grill. As we were leaving the restaurant, the same young lady(middle-eastern or perhaps Mexican) yelled: «sorry you had to wait… for like two seconds, peace!» Right up to the moment we were leaving, we didn’t feel particularly negative about it, but to have to listen to that kind of abusive verbal language is something no customer should tolerate. We should file a complaint with the dept of consumers affairs, and we will never visit this place as long as this type of practices are in place.

Rubios you should be ashamed. The entire kitchen staff needs to be retrained. We dined in as well as a few other patrons. We all received our orders around the same time and every last order was made incorrectly. There was at least four employees working the front and each seemed too busy to assist with customer complaints, even though there was only two cash registers. I ordered the tortilla soup and before I ordered it I asked how big the bowl was. So, I was definitely shocked and disappointed when I received a nice sized bowl that was less than half full and room temperature. After having to deal with the cashiers when the cooks neglected to put sauce and guacamole on Mr. Dawn’s tacos, I chose to just eat my soup as is. But my son enjoyed his bean and cheese burrito.

I see Rubio’s everywhere. It’s a green sign but I haven’t been too enticed to visit them. After a bike ride this weekend, that changed. We went in just to look at the menu, but I knew I was hooked the moment I opened the door. The food smelled delightful. Maybe I just love a great grill. Either way, Rubio’s is fantastic. Taco offerings and burrito offerings with a fair amount seafood options and affordable. The food tasted great. Grilled, salty, sweetness wrapped up in langostino lobster and steak tacos. This was enjoyable.

I don’t care what anybody says… rubios’ is comfort food for me when I’m not on a search for the perfect taco on Taco Tuesday. After 2:30pm, $ 1.50 battered fried fish tacos, $ 2.00 tacos especial(with cheese and guac) are on sale, Tuesdays only. They may not be stuffed, very little cabbage, the battered fish isn’t much, except for slightly oversalted, gets soft quickly… but it still hits the spot somehow… Consistently. At least for the location on Jamacha Rd. The fish is tender and crunchy for a hot second… I don’t dare order to go in fear they will go soggy(it’s happened before!). So I pick a seat, dress up my tacos with all the good salsas they have(picante and chipotle are my fav), and eat my 2 tacos which usually fills me up. They have decent churros there too. Gets busy on Tuesdays because everyone’s got the same idea. Nice people, nice tacos, nice price. 2 tacos for 3 bucks makes me happy. I hope I won’t be back anytime soon, but if I’m hungry on a Tuesday, I won’t hesitate to stop in. Rubios is still honoring Taco Tuesday tradition, reppin’ San Diego style tacos.(I get so bummed when I walk in a place and they tell me their Taco Tuesday was yesterday… Monday. What the!!!)

Ordered two dishes. One was luke warm to cold, the other was just plain cold. Sent it back to warm it up. Came back with tortillas like cardboard. Young crew that seemed to have other things on they’re mind. Was around 8:30PM.

I came into this location with my daughter for dinner before a little shopping at Target. They were the nicest, friendliest staff. An elderly couple came in while we were eating and they catered to them hand and foot. I mean went to their table to take their order, brought them napkins and silverware. I’ve never seen a fast food type chain do this, ever! So glad customer service is not lost on everyone.

My favorite place to get quick food in Rancho SD! Although I am not 12, I still order a kids meal bean and cheese burrito with chips and a churro which is less than $ 5!!! I have tried other items on the menu such as their fish tacos and shrimp burrito and they were extremely flavorful. I believe that the whole menu offers unique combinations that acquire such great taste. They recently renewed the place and it looks spectacular! They also have a salsa bar that includes the best salsas! I am trying to find one thing that is not positive about Rubios but I can’t seem to find one. It is always busy is there which shows how great the food and service are. I highly recommend!

Normally, I receive great service from this Rubios. I come here often and I have even used them for catering. However, yesterday(April 18th) in the afternoon, I received TERRIBLE service from Matt and Melissa. Seriously, I hope these two were just having a bad day or else I think they need to find new jobs. I have never received such bad service. My order is pretty simple(and one I’ve made for years), but yesterday these two seemed very confused by it. I asked for a burrito with just chicken, rice, and cheese. The cashier didn’t know how to place the order in and I said, «I think they charge me for the Baja, but I’m not sure.» When Matt dropped off my burrito, I noticed that it didn’t have any rice. I said, «excuse me, but this burrito doesn’t have any rice.» He responds, «is it supposed to have rice? If so, then it should be in there.» He then just stared at myself and my friend looking annoyed. I opened my burrito to show him that it didn’t have any rice because he seemed to need some proof. I then asked if they could put rice in my burrito. He looked annoyed, he didn’t apologize for the mistake, and grabbed my plate and walked away. I’ve been to this Rubios for over 10 years and they always make it with chicken, cheese, and mexican rice. I’ve never had to specify. Maybe these two are new because this order of three ingredients seemed very complicated. They give me a new burrito with very minimal white rice. I responded, «I’m sorry, but I wanted the mexican rice.» Melissa decided to confront the situation and she asked me what I ordered in an annoyed tone. I felt awkward and like I was discussing my meal with two teenagers. I told her that I ordered a, «chicken, rice, and cheese burrito… I think it’s like the Baja or something.» She goes, «well the Baja doesn’t have rice so when you order you really need to be specific in what you actually want.» I told her I ordered, «chicken, rice, cheese… I think they charge me for a Baja.» Matt and Melissa then look at one another and roll their eyes… in front of me. Myself and my friend were so uncomfortable with their behavior. I asked for a new burrito and decided to just stand by the counter. Matt informs me to sit down and that he’ll bring me my burrito. I told him I don’t mind waiting and again he looks at Melissa and they roll their eyes at one another. I was a server for 4 years, my friend is a server in a very busy restaurant downtown, we would never treat our guests the way these two treated me. A simple order that was entered in wrong and they did their best to make me feel like I was a bother. I asked for the manager and she was kind and said, «thank you for letting me know» and gave me a coupon for free tacos and/or a salad. However, those two made our visit so awkward we agreed that we wouldn’t want to go back.

Fish Taco Tuesday after 2PM is so worth it. $ 1.50 for one. Cheap & Good. There isn’t much else to say! FYI — Rubio’s started in SD and they’re original location is near PB. FUNFACT! :)
