So here’s the situation (2 days after cleaning). My wife scheduled a pre-​move-​in cleaning from this company, and she was verbally told the following over the phone:
1. We charge $ 25/​hour and work in teams of 2.
2. Based on the size of the house (3 bedroom, 1400 sq. ft.), we estimate it should take 4 – 5 hours to clean.
3. We estimate the total cost should be approximately $ 125-​$ 150.
This seemed reasonable and $ 25/​hour seemed to be on par with industry standards for house cleaning, and 4 – 5 hours seems like it would be the right amount of time for cleaning.
We came into our nice and clean house (they did a good job, although missed one or two small things) and found a bill for $ 250!!! The breakdown of the bill is as follows:
Hourly rate = $ 25×2 workers x 5 hours per person… = $ 250. Are you KIDDING ME?!
Never once was it stated that we are paying on a per person per hour basis! This is my main point of frustration, as I feel that we were misled from the beginning and they lowballed us on the quote to get our business and then charged double.
I mean, what kind of cleaning service charges $ 25/​per person? The average for the country for cleaning is approx $ 12/​hour, and around $ 15 for the most expensive areas like NYC or San Francisco… I don’t understand how they get off charging $ 25, and even state on their website that their prices can’t be beat… I HIGHLY doubt that.
After several voicemails and attempted calls over the last couple of days to get it straightened out, we get an email, notifying us that there had been a family emergency, and Karen apologized for not replying back. So no worries there.
She also stated that she would reduce our bill to $ 200, which is a nice gesture, but I’m still not convinced that the job done in the house warranted the cost.
I would have given one star due to the frustration caused and the feeling of being misled and ripped off, but my wife convinced me that they deserve at least 2 stars because the house was very clean… Still, would not recommend.
