I am born and raised in San Diego. This hotel is in a bad part of town, however, cheap, so booked my nieces here for a family get together. The owner is CLUELESS about customer service. Long story short, he ended up calling the police on me. I am a middle aged mother of 2. No tatoos, no piercings, don’t drink, don’t smoke, went to Catholic school my whole life. Clean driving record, NEVER been to jail. Yet, this man calls the police on me. Unbelievable!!! First off, he claimed our reservation was for 1 adult, 2 kids. Tried to charge $ 60 extra for my nieces husband. I verified my reservation with Get A was for 2 adults, 2 kids! Next, he asked for a $ 150 deposit, even tho the room was paid for 2 nights. I go get the cash, he decides to raise the deposit to $ 250! Tells Get A agent that I had a car load of people in my car and he just knows I am putting them all in that room. This guy has cameras of the whole property and watches your every move! My military son was coming to town that night and it was his birthday on the 20th. Lots of family from out of state coming to see my military son. NOT everyone staying at that hotel room. Some staying at my house. He assumed wrong! He then said my niece was not allowed ANY visitors. Mind you, she was from out of state and wanted her father and Uncle to visit her. This is the short version of the story as too much to write, but this foreign man comes to my country and tells me my niece is not allowed visitors in her hotel room??? I think NOT!!! Finally he agreed to let us cancel the room and get a refund from Get A . Not before he called the police on me. The owner totally twists the story to the police, what an idiot! The officer never asked my ID and went outside with me. Told me he has problems with this owner before. What a waste of tax payer money calling the police on many occasions when it is not warranted!!! Lastly, dealing with this jerk, I was 40 minutes late to the airport to pick up my military son who was tired from the long flight and had a guest with him. Please, take my advice and stay elsewhere. This idiot should be put out of business!!! I too will be posting my complaint anywhere I can about this hotel. Completely unbelievable. Watch, the owner will probably write a rebuttal comment, twisting the story in his favor. That’s how low he is!!!

Worst customer service ever! Manager canceled my reservation and lied by saying I requested it. He then called another hotel in the local area and got my reservation canceled there as well. All because I had concerns of rate changes and customer service issues. When I called to question him on it he hung up the phone on me 3 times, then had his employees lie about him not being there until I got them to connect me. What a shame that a company like Howard Johnson has a manager like this guy Chetan. I hope he resolves this properly. He told me to go to the BBB he doesn’t care.

DONOTSTAYHERE! Wow, I didn’t think there were such hotels, especially a Howard Johnson’s. I would put no stars or minus stars if I could. Looking for a place, close to Sycuan and the freeway, should have slept in my car, more comfortable and more pleasant people. So, to start, our room was a non-smoking king with a pullout. it smelled of covered up smoke. Next, I went to plug in my phone next to the bed, pulled out the end table and found a Reece’s king size wrapper there(i even took a pictures sent it to my husband) and and no plug. Found a power strip under the bed that had the lights plugged into it, but every time I moved it it shut off. Thought it as the light cord, but it was the power strip. No one answered the front desk phone so I taped the end together with first aid tape. Our next adventure was to turn on the air, which didn’t turn on, It had a short circuit. After we reset it turn on, of course it is the middle of winter, so no one’s probably used it for a few months. Before we left for the night, we called the front desk to ask for a pillow for the pullout, linens and extra towels for the morning. We were told to come to the front desk and pick them up, by the way it was 4pm. When we go to the front desk, they tell us there are linens on the pullout(they were smelly, had to fold the blanket like a sleeping bag to sleep in) and they only had one pillow, regardless of all the empty rooms that had four pillows on the beds(we saw at least 5 vacant ones as we were walking to our room as the drapes were all open). The next morning we went to use the microwave(that was hooked up with a large orange industrial extension cord(took a picture of that too). Needless to say, we grabbed our things and got out as soon as we could. We will NEVER stay there again and i will definitely do more research before I ever consider staying at a Howard Johnson’s and I hope anyone reading this will think twice before they consider staying here

Lack of towels, pillows, a SMALLTV, and a piece of crap mattress. Yes, we could always request MORE towels and pillows, BUT the fact that there weren’t even 4 towels in the bathroom was ridiculous. Not worth the money.
