Great service, honest feedback! The first time I took my car into Chuck he asked if I was the type to get a new car every few years or if I was looking to keep my car for the long haul. I told him I wanted my car for many years, he then said he would make sure that my car ran like new for as long as I owned it. He has been a man of his word, always fits in oil changes and gives advice when I ask.

Chuck Turner automotive is a man of his word. He did a yearly service on my 2006 Flying Spur Bentley.
We repaired all brakes and rotors, replaced the wheel locks that was missing the key.
He used Bently oem parts. found an issue with rr wheel alinement. Replace the rear tires that wore out prematurely due to wheel out adjust. Changed oil filters and required service for the milage. Detailed the car.
He called me with item and priced the repair. Stayed in contact the whole repair.
And charged reasonable rates [if Bentley parts can be) and returned the Bentley when promised.
Highly recommend Chuck Turner will use again.

First off my car didn’t pass smog so I brought it in to see if anything was wrong. He told me my car was not worth fixing and tried to buy it from me. When I told him that wasn’t an option he began yelling at me. I took my car to a different mechanic and he said the only reason why my car didn’t pass smog was because there was a change in the exhaust system. It was a simple change and my car still is working great a few years later even after chuck told me my car wasn’t worth fixing. He is a crook.

I wish there was a zero star rating because I would have clicked it. The other raters that trust Chuck and the other sloppy mechanic that works there either must be family, best friends, or have been completely hoodwinked themselves and didnt know it. I took my 4-​runner in since it was over heating. A buddy and I had recently replaced the head gasket and it was still overheating so we figured that the head must have been warped and it blew the head gasket again. I took it in to Chuck Turner where he said I was stupid for trying to fix it myself (Ive worked on all my cars) and that I should have taken it to a REAL mechanic. After the estimate (which cost me $ 80), he said the head gasket was blown and it was going to cost $ 2000 to fix. Immediately after telling him I didnt have the money, he said «well I’ll buy it from you» (for a ridiculously low price). Thats when I discerned that this guy might be trying to take me for a ride and flip my truck to make some easy money. So I had the car towed home. After a compression check, research online, etc I discovered that the radiator was not flowing coolant properly. I changed out the radiator and sure enough, no more overheating, no running rough, nothing.
Moral of the story, DO NOT take your car to Chuck Turner. He will charge you through the nose for work they do not do. And then try to buy your car from you for a highly discounted rate when you think it’s broken and not worth the repair. CROOK CROOK CROOK. And hes a jerk on top of that. Chuck & Fran have been excellent in taking care of all of my vehicles for as long as I can remember. I recently referred my next-​door neighbor to him, and this neighbor is still always thanking me for doing so. This shop is not the lowest-​priced shop out there, but, again, I wouldn’t want to trust my life to a shop that’s the cheapest, because I don’t want any corners cut to make them look «good» by offering such a low price.
The negative reviews I have read on Unilocal here are simply not the shop I have known since the 1990s. Some of the stories reported on other reviews are just inconceivable to me. I would not hesitate to recommend Chuck Turner Automotive to ANYONE and I would not consider taking my vehicles anywhere else.
For example, before quoting most work I am asked for how long I expect to keep the vehicle. The kind, level and amount of work needed differs if I say «1 year» or if I say «5 years». First they find out what my plans for the car are, then they offer a repair quote to accommodate my needs.
I could go on and on but what’s the point? Excellent mechanics who are also scrupulously honest are worth their weight in gold and this shop is it.

Ok I know I am biased since I love Chuck and Frannie for all of the awesome work they have done for me over the years. Chuck can come off as abrasive at times but by god he is a great mechanic. I would rather have someone bruise my ego occasionally and tell me the truth about what is going on with my car than to give me a lube job that I feel for the next three months if you get my drift.
I first met Chuck when he was working out of the back of El Cajon Auto Repair on Fletcher Parkway (it is now gone). He took my poor beat up Nissan Sentra in to look at it. I would get on the freeway and at around 50 mph it would lose power etc. He ended up looking at it for about a week and at the end of it he told me it was one of two parts. The problem as explained was that the parts would have to be ordered from the dealer and until they were installed you were ⁵⁰⁄₅₀ on whether or not they were correct. He told me to drive (that is the key part here-«drive») to the Nissan dealer in El Cajon. He told me they would have the two parts in stock and if they guessed wrong they would not have to charge me for the wrong part. Made sense to me. He also instructed me to not tell them he had troubleshot the car and to let them figure out which item was bad… So I proceeded to try and pay Chuck for the diagnostic repairs and he would not take a dime… I was sold with Chuck forever at that moment.
Drove to the Nissan dealer and they took in my car. About two days later they called me and told me it was one of the two parts previously diagnosed. The total repair was supposed to be $ 279.00. I told them to go ahead with the repairs… a few hours later they phoned to tell me that my timing chain was also off by a few teeth and the replacement would cost a whopping $ 1400.00 in addition to the previous repairs. I was stunned to say the least. I called Chuck and it was obvious from our conversation that I would not have been able to drive to the Nissan dealer had the chain been off by a few teeth.
I ended up towing the car out of the Nissan Dealer in El Cajon and back up to Chuck. He told me he could redo the entire timing chain for $ 600.00. Sounded a lot better than the $ 1400.00 previously quoted. I told him to go ahead and about an hour later he called and said, «I might be able to simply reset the chain». «I can do that and give you an oil change for $ 125.00». OMG I thought this guy was a god at this point. He did the repairs and I drove the car for another two years before I sold it.
All told he is the best. Like I said he can be a bit abrasive but he always tells you the truth. Sometimes I can’t handle it but I definitely appreciate the honesty. I keep bringing all of my cars and trucks to Chuck since I trust him and know he is good to go. I only ask him for pricing anymore to find out if I can afford it. Most of the time his quoted work is less than what he tells you. I really do not like the unpleasant phone call of «We found all this extra blah blah blah wrong». I run my own business as upfront as I can. Sometimes people go to other people when the quoted for real price is more than the other guy down the street. I can tell you that it is better to get the real price upfront than the back end loaded price half way through the job when everything is tore apart…
