This place needs to be shut down! I don’t know where to begin, but this is the worst place I have ever stayed… Heater didn’t work, mold growing in bathroom and in HVAC vents, and no hot water. The place is a health hazard with the mold issues. I ended up switching hotels after the first night. AVOID like the plague!

DONOTMAKERESERVATIONSATEGLININNONBASE!!! Wish I would have read Danella’s review prior to this reservations! In all of my 25 years of being Active duty… This is the worst conditions I have experienced for a military Inn! Do NOT be Fooled by the other Photos that look pleasant and inviting! I uploaded a couple of photos for all to see if you choose to stay in the 60s style Eglin Inn Vila’s! It is a disgrace to our Military Families to stay in such a disgraceful place. It was embarrassing as a Senior Officer/Soldier to be given a room in this shape on a military installation/base. The room is located in a different location from the check-in building! We checked out immediately the next morning because there was no other hotel that had rooms available within 30 miles that night! After driving for hours the day prior wishing to get a comfortable nights rest, it was horrible to see a room in this shape looking like it was in a low class neighborhood in the woods! It was Mold smelling, had unclean towels and bedding! No Ventalation in bedroom or bathroom, bed felt like bricks, pull out bed felt like you were sleeping on an iron mattress, Walls were covered with mold as well as the sinks and base boards. The most heartbreaking thing was the next morning when I opened the door and it was pouring down rain; the maid was pushing the tarp covered cart in the Quad(see picture), knocking on the doors for service! I can’t imagine how the other Employess are treated :-(…If you get the last project villa, pray it’s not raining because you have to walk over 100feet in pouring rain to the muddy parking area to load your car up! Do not bring your family here! Pay the difference and stay outside the base at the Marriott, Hamptons, or Holiday Inn. Can’t even rely on your own to take care of its own! YOUWILLGETWHATYOUPAYFOR! This is a case of waste, fraud and abuse to our own people in the Armed Forces!

I don’t know about the other hotel rooms. But when I stayed here it was roach infested and FREEZING. We had to wear our winter coats to sleep. Also, a maid asked me if I needed my sheets changed which I quickly said yes too. She handed me a bunch of sheets to change them myself. Talk about lazy…

I have a lot of experience when it comes to staying on Eglin’s Lodging. First things first, depending on the time of year, you DONOT want to stay here. The main lodging which is named Sands Inn, is an older building. Because it’s an older building they only run the heating units or the AC units, either or. They have a set date where they switch the rooms from heater to AC. So with that being said if you come at a time where it just so happens to be hot before they switch the units … YOUWILLBURNTHEHELLUP! I once sweat so much, I ended up taking a shower and sleeping in my car. True story. Should have stayed in Afghanistan… Most of the front desk people are very short with you and have no personality whatsoever. Also make sure you get good directions to your room. They try to highlight where your room is but the print out can be confusing to first timers. Tip: If you can stay on the south end of the base do so. It’s closer to everything and it’s more comfortable.

The«pet friendly» TLF is absolutely disgusting. Not only do I have to pay regular rate for a vomit inducing room, but I have to pay $ 10 additional a day for my dogs. For what? I do not know. The buildings are incredibly old and should be condemned. They are extremely unclean. There is dog hair in every corner of this room, and it is not my dog’s. The room stinks like a Petsmart grooming salon. There is no air circulation and you cannot open the windows to let some of the sickening stench out. There is one AC unit in the living area that does not circulate in the bedroom area. I assume it must be unbearable in the summertime. Sadly I am stuck as I will not get a non availability letter to be able to stay at La Quinta. To make matters worse, the housekeepers MUST see every room every day… they do not care if you are trying to rest and sleep in a little bit. I am considering checking out early and checking Hurlburt Field’s accommodations.

In terms of military hotels, its pretty good, small but clean. I was able to reserve a room within a day at last minute for dirt cheap rates.
