Awesome sales staff and great service after the sale. Bought clipless pedals that were suboptimal and they were exchanged without hassle. Multiple visits to purchase various items for family and great experience each time. It is a big store, but they seem to remember where they came from. Try this place before buying elsewhere.

I had my 10 year old Trek repaired at The Cyclery last week and was very satisfied. I had several issues including a squeeky crank, gear changing issues, handlebar grips that were loose and wanted to replace my wide mountain bike tires with narrower ones. All these repairs were included in their $ 60 tuneup. I did have to buy the new tires, but found them to be reasonably priced. I was told it would take a week, but it was finished in 2 days. I expected this repair to cost much more and thought that it might be time to invest on a new bike. I am so happy to get lots of more miles out of my Trek! The staff was friendly from the first entry into their business and continued throughout the entire transaction. Highly recommend this independent hometown business!

My choices were between The Cyclery and The Bike Factory(659‑8706); knowing that The Cyclery has been in the area for many years. Both places were going to charge $ 60 for tune-ups(basic) right out of the gate. The bike was a yard sale item($ 15) and needed a bike stand installed. Originally I was told it would take a week(Friday dropped off) for the bike to be checked and very busy in the shop; they’ll call me if things can be looked at sooner. I did receive a call on Tuesday that the intertubes were bad and $ 6.99 per tube along with $ 10.00 per tire for its replacement. I called The Bike Factory just to see what they would do for their tune-up and items that might need replaced for my scenario; Amanda replied that labor WOULDN’T be charged and encompasses the tune-up overall since that’s what I would have brought the bike in. She did say that the tubes cost $ 5.99 and $ 10/tire for such services IF just for that alone. When The Cyclery(Justin) did call back a few hours later, I had explained that their competitors wouldn’t charge the«labor» under making the bike ready to go after paying for the materials, he simply said… that’s what we charge. So if you’re looking for repairing your bike, I plan to take my family’s bikes to The Bike Factory(number listed above), for better Customer Service.

My experience is strictly with their running shoes sales. I have been evaluated at two different running stores in the past, and the«analysis» provided here did not compare to what other stores provide. They do nothing more than watch you walk a few paces. The in-stock selection is also rather limited. When one member of my party wanted more time to think and decide between two pairs of shoes, she got a HIGH-pressure sales pitch, telling her that they normally charge for fitting if you don’t buy anything that day, but he generously«waived» that since he didn’t mention it earlier. Given that there was no real analysis, my guess is no such charge exists, and he was just trying to put on the pressure to make the sale that day. I understand their concern that people will get fitted and then buy their shoes elsewhere, but that was not the case with our group. They should be respectful when someone says they want to do some research. To get a real running shoe fitting experience, I recommend a store like Fleet Feet. It’s worth it.

I give this store five stars because they not only have all that you need for the bike trails(and their bikes ride soooo much better than the cheap bikes), but their employees go over and above to help with your bike needs. They have a great repair shop in the back, and they have a large selection for anything you might need on the bike trails. I love this place. I have bought more than two bikes so far, and I hope to get some more. You need bikes of this quality if you really want to enjoy riding the miles and miles of bike trails.

When it was time for me to purchase a bike, I chose a different store in Edwardsville. That shop has since closed, but the cyclery is still going strong and in its new-ish location. Despite my not purchasing from them, I’ve always gotten wonderful service. Just recently I had a terrible experience with a bike shop in the City which shall remain nameless. After having my bike tuned up there, my derailer came loose and my chain fell off while riding in traffic. Perturbed, I took my bike to the Cyclery. In five minutes they had identified the problem and fixed it — no charge. It turns out my derailer is a «reverse» one, whatever that means, and the other place had wired it wrong. I moved from the east side to south city last fall; but just like I’m keeping my auto mechanic in Edwardsville, I’m not going to take my bike anyplace else besides the Cyclery, ever ever again. I’ve learned my lesson. My safety is too important to do otherwise.

I recently purchased a Giant Rapid 1 from the Cyclery. Hans helped me on a Saturday to decide on the right bike. He took the time to listen to my needs and my budgetary concerns. Of course, I had to go home and discuss the purchase with my boss(wife) and came back the next day. Hans was off that day but Betsy was able to pick up where Hans left off. I couldn’t be happier with my purchase. The bike is a great fit! They offer a 10% discount on riding gear for a year when you purchase a bike. The showroom is packed full of bikes, fitness equipment, running merchandise and accessories. The only qualm I have is the parking lot is very small.

I’ve been riding on two wheels about forty-five years, and remember when some of the best bike shops were set up in family garages, when tuneups included cleaning/greasing/repacking bearings, and truing wheel rims was a frequent chore. During the past seven years, this old biker has purchased each family member’s bike(and a bicycle trailer) from the Cyclery. Each bike came with lifetime free checks/adjustments, and superb customer service. We’ve purchased Giant and Schwinn brand, but Cyclery offers higher-end bikes for those who can afford them, and all the accessories you’ll ever need. Cyclery has a relatively new running section, with a very good selection of shoe brands and models. Today, I purchased a pair of Nike shoes(I use the Nike+ iPod system to track my runs). Ask for Steve, who used to work at Bipod. He’ll help you find the right shoe and fit.

On the sign, it’s called«The Cyclery» and it’s on the corner of Troy and Center Grove. It’s packed in there. They hold a lot of stock so if you are looking to walk away with a bike, you should check them out. In addition to bikes, they also have a lot of workout equipment and machines. Workout clothing, especially bike jerseys, shorts, and the like are also well represented. It’s a good sized store. I haven’t been to any others in Edwardsville but my guess is that this place is taking most of the business.
