The meat was cooked very well but I was not a fan of the BBQ sauce I tried all three kinds but they were all too oily for me

After all that waiting my chicken was barely warm, the coleslaw is the worst I’ve ever had at a restaurant, the greens were pretty decent and the potato salad was average. The other reviews were right, the meat is a little over spiced and salted… Not sure if I’ll come back soon, it’s a shame bc it’s so close to home.

Like their ribs. But they are too inconsistent with the BBQ. One day it’s falling off the bone. The next it’s not. Sides are mediocre. 3 stars if you catch them on a good day.

After reading many stellar reviews we decided to give this place a try. It was not bad but it is certainly a far cry from excellent. Customer service was apathetic. The girl who took our order just did not seem to have any personality. No welcome, no smile, just a stone face,“can I take your order?” The food was okay. My pulled pork sandwich bun was very soggy on the bottom. I made a mistake by ordering their hot bbq sauce which was much hotter than I expected. It was just hot, no flavor whatsoever. My wife got the pulled chicken sandwich, she said it was okay. We also got the p.3 combo plate. Like everything else we had, it was just okay. No great BBQ to be found here. So, due to mediocre customer service and food that is unspectacular, I think 2 stars is in order.

I got the pulled park spiked with cole slaw. The meat was smoked and prepared perfectly. Then I got the homemade baked beans and cornbread. Beans were a little spicy and were awesome. Can’t forget the cornbread though! Melts like butter in your mouth best I had. The home made sauces were perfect for my meal. I used the hot BBQ sauce they had I bought a pint of it lol. And the sweet tea was awesome! Refilled like 6 times ha. The owner was super cool and knows how to BBQNOJOKE. The staff was extremely nice and gave great help to pick out was I was wanting and suggest other stuff! Celtic cowboy BBQ staff if your reading this you have a permanent customer and a regular! Keep doing what your doing and Unilocalers I prefer you to stop by and promise you won’t regret this place

When this place is on, it is on. Once in a while the ribs I get taste a little dry. I’m sure it’s probably part of the re heating process for service, but it just sucks when you pay all that money. But man, when they are kickin butt, those ribs are so tasty.

I’ve tried just about everything here(really close to home!) and while I agree with some of the reviews, I have a few things to add. I’ve only had the pulled pork once & I’m not a big fan. Mostly because in general it’s not something I would order regularly. That being said the pulled pork is consistently good. My hubby loves it & orders it every time! The spice on everything is pretty amazing! I don’t think it’s overwhelming at all but if u add sauce to the mix after you get the meat where it’s going, it can be a wee bit overwhelming. Also I’m not a huge fan of the sauce in general but it’s definitely a preference thing. The hot BBQ sauce is SUPERHOT! The sides aren’t great I’ll admit but the recipes are family recipes so you can’t complain too much. The jalapeño cornbread & the beans are favs. My hubby likes the beans better than most & he’s a southern boy so he knows his pit beans! I think the potato salad is ok but I like mine better. The mac & cheese usually has too much garlic & mushy noddles. I ADORE the ribs straight up! No sauce needed! I’ve had these ribs(the spare ribs & the baby back) numerous times over the last 2 years & I’ve only been disappointed one time. I think once out of ALOT of different experiences eating here is pretty good! Every restaurant has an off week or day! I really really love the ribs! I hope everyone that comes to this BBQ place tries the RIBS! If you don’t like the place after that, no harm no foul but at least try those before you write the place off!

I decided to give this place another try. I should have learned my lesson from the first time as much of nothing has changed. I go in during the middle of lunch hour and I’m the only one there(Big clue there) Again the place smells wonderful and the service is fantastic. This time I ordered the rib chicken combo with barbecued beans as I did not like the pulled pork last time. The beans taste like they have come out of a can and been reduced and thickened. The ribs have been smoked beautifully then killed by over spicing them. They also were fairly dry. The chicken was again smoked beautifully and then killed by over spicing afterwards and again the chicken was fairly dry. The barbecue sauce that comes on the side the way barbecue sauce should. I got the hot barbecue sauce, this was awful I mean just foul awful it tasted sour and herbs with not much heat in it at all. I’m really not sure how this place stays in business, Oh I know by overcharging $ 14+ w/tax for a combo lunch that consists of two little rib pieces, a tiny piece of chicken. a small side and a can of pop. Come on man that’s just to much.

I get surprised when I see a BBQ joint with great ratings and then eat it and am just let down. Very few places deserves one star — this place really isn’t much of an exception when it comes to BBQ but it was horrid… but it’s far from deserving anything more than two stars. Typically I find excitement when I find a small tucked away BBQ joint and today I was. So i had to swing by for lunch. We ordered everything to go — service was quick and friendly so no gripe there. When we got back and opened up our meals… everything looked completely dried out. I get that they believe sauce should be served on the side… but you can literally see the dryness in the meat itself. It looked like yesterday’s meat(maybe even older than that. A three piece meal, two pieces of dried out chicken that could have been argued as chicken jerky. one pork rib that had about 3 cm of dried meat on the bone, and a toddler’s handful of brisket. dry. dry. not so dry(the brisket wasn’t dried out). There wasn’t flavor on anything — we went with the hot bbq sauce and even that… all it had was an immense amount of heat but had no flavor of BBQ. It was a hugh disappointment. The best and freshest tasting items was the mac n cheese, which was more of an alfredo kind of taste rather than your typical yellow cheeses — it was still good though. And the jalapeño corn bread was very moist and had a decent amount of flavor. Overall though — it definitely didn’t hit the spot. and at $ 14/plate its not worth the money either. Perhaps I’ll come back another time and day when they might have some fresh meats cooked and served.

While the service has been consistently good, unfortunately the food hasn’t been. Have bought almost all the items off their menu and narrowed it down to chicken and spare ribs that we could count on. Until tonight. The chicken was dry, too spicy, but otherwise no flavor. The ribs were also way too spicy and dry — and I usually like heat. I’d have given one star only if not for previous purchases but tonight’s was so bad, I regret referring anyone there.

Wanted some BBQ and was driving down 99 through Lynwood when we saw this place, not what you would expect for a joint like, its literally built into an auto body repair garage LOL. Food is fantastic, home made sausage and sides, all the BBQ was on point, chicken, pork, brisket, everything. Good selection of sauces, nice to see not the standard BBQ sauces all the time. Since there is not alot of room in the garage almost all the seating is outside which is very nice in the«good» weather months, but other times of the year this might be an take home the food kind of place.

I don’t get it. My office is located fairly close to Celtic Cowboy so most people here have tried it. Not one of them is overjoyed with the food or the service. It’s not that it’s bad, it’s just that it’s nothing special. So why all the 5 stars? I’ve been to the South, I’ve eaten a lot of down home real barbecue, this just isn’t it. The sauces are too tangy, the beans are odd, the pork sandwich is absolutely boring and the service is on and off. Sometimes great, sometimes a little stand– offish. I really wish I liked this place more because it’s close and it’s barbecue and I LOVE barbecue. But alas, I don’t waste my time with it and neither does anyone else it in this office.

The BBQ: it’s great, my husband likes it because they don’t fool you with drenching the meat in sauce and I like it… well because it’s BBQ. I’ve had the brisket twice and the pulled pork twice. The garlic macaroni is to die for! Atmosphere: it’s as BBQ as you get with outdoor picnic tables. That being said, Not much seating so it may be wise to take out. Price: as BBQ goes they have fair prices and I don’t feel like I’m overpaying. Not to mention your supporting a local business. We will continue to go back as long as they keep serving quality food at fair prices!

Amazing! The rub is spicy and rich. The chicken thighs were nice & smoky. The ribs were done to perfection. They were sliced up for easy grubbing. We’ve also done take away beef brisket – which was to die for. There are 3 sauces on hand to suit your preference and lots of great sides– including a lettuce salad for the heathy folks. Don’t pass up this little BBQ smoke shop – eat in or take away.

I’ve been enjoying CCBBQ for over a year. They simply have the best smoked turkey sandwich I have tasted. Super friendly fast service BTW, if you have a four legged family member, they offer bones in different sizes. Now, if only they offered a glass of cold locally brewed beer. YUM!

Much improved on my subsequent trips. The owner spoke to the staff it seems and all my previous complaints are history. Really enjoyed the quality of the meat and saw a big turn around for my experience. Nice pork ribs too.

Saw that this business won an award — figured it was time to check out this northend barbeque location. My husband went to get takeout because it looked like it was kind of limited for on site seating. He was told that this has been in business for three years now. Never heard of them until I was looking at Unilocal listings yesterday and convinced the family that it would BBQ takeout for dinner this evening. Goodness — he came back with a large shopping bag and clearly a decent sampling of the menu. Pulled pork sandwich with the apricot jalepeno sauce($ 7) — tasty and gobbled up. Three of the sausage rolls($ 1.50 each) — good but the puff pastry portion was kind of greasy. Most likely would taste better if eaten shortly after its preparation. Half pound of the smoked Painted Hills beef brisket($ 9.99) — despite it being Painted Hills, it was just okay. Didn’t see the evident smoke ring and bark that brisket usually has. Half rack of the pork spare ribs($ 11.99) vs. Half rack of pork baby back ribs($ 13.99) — splurge on the latter. The baby back ribs were meatier, juicier, and extremely flavorful. The house barbeque sauce though was a bit too mild, however, the house rub and how it was smoked allowed their pork ribs to solidly stand on its own. Sides: Quart of potato salad($ 8.00) — wow that was stellar and outstanding! Individual sides of baked beans with house cured bacon($ 2.00) and local organic greens($ 3.00) were just okay. Beans a bit too sweet. I like the fact that good quality meats are used and clearly the owners have a love for what they do with their entire menu offerings.

BBQ… from a couple who obviously have a passion for smoked meats. This is one of my few BBQ reviews where I’ve been able to focus on «the meats», and not the sauce. It’s as though my obsession with specialty coffee has met its’ match in BBQ. Please check out my photo of the front of their kitchen… which is basically their restaurant… more a commercial kitchen… staffed with«BBQ Tech’s» who all impressed me. This is, in a sense, an open-view commercial kitchen dedicated to optimizing the smoking of meats, and doing it with the best available product. They’re unique, and not anything like your typical chain operation BBQ’s. They bring BBQ to where it belongs… «A culinary process that is best when done on a personal level, using quality meats and prepared with thoughtful purpose and care.» I got into the Seattle area for a business trip on Tuesday, and checked out«BBQ» in the Lynnwood area, which is where I usually stay. I saw Celtic, read some reviews, and thought… «well, looks good, but maybe too far from the hotel?» Ironically, Wednesday afternoon, I visited a client that is, literally, right next door! After a double take, I finished with my client and walked next door… the rest is all about me discovering Celtic Cowboy BBQ, more the true definition of «hidden gem on Unilocal» than any other food retailer I’ve encountered. Long story short, I chatted with Steve, co-owner, both after my client visit, and then again in the early evening when I … «did my buy!» I basically ordered a «buffet spread of everything they had to offer.» Small amounts of their links, meats and fowl… including the chocolate cake and shortbread desserts.“ If you’re in the Edmonds/Lynnwood area, you’re close. I love their brisket, both by itself and in their Brisket Chili. The pulled pork is flavorful and moist. And they actually know how to smoke those chicken thighs. For me, the sauce became an afterthought, as the meat quality and smoke element, along with a proper moisture level, made it «all good.» I’ve found another«hidden gem» for my «black book of must do BBQ in the West.»

This place is fantastic. I live in Denver, but my parents live in Edmonds, and whenever I’ve come home to visit recently, we always hit up the Celtic Cowboy. There’s a lot of BBQ where I live, and I would be lucky to have a place as wonderful as CC in my neck of the woods. Not only is their meat perfectly smoked every time, their side dishes are flavorful, pretty healthy, and seasoned perfectly. One thing I really appreciate about this place is that the food is always served piping hot. A big complaint about most BBQ joints that I’ve gone to is that the meat is warm, but never quite hot. CC makes sure everything is heated to steaming perfection. Last Thanksgiving, my parents even had CC make food for our big family meal. They offer really amazing packages with smoked turkey, sides, dessert – it was a hit, amazingly delicious, and all the stress and prep of that damn holiday were removed, leaving more time to enjoy the family and less time doing dishes and burning food. Beyond that, the people who run this place and work here are on their game. They’re always friendly, their kitchen is exposed, and you can see the place is very clean. They’re also down to earth, friendly, and passionate about what they do. From the looks of their menu, they also have an incredible lunch deal. It’s somewhat of a strange location, but seek it out. It’s a treasure trove of smoked meats and delightful flavors waiting to be consumed.
