I recently received an email from the Chiropractic House asking for my review. I’ve been meaning to leave my thoughts on the place, but… I’m busy. That’s the usual excuse for not doing something, right? I found out about this place located in North Edmund via Groupon. I had purchased it probably last summer, but didn’t get around to using it until just before it had expired in November or December. It was for an x-ray(well worth the price of the Groupon) and two adjustments. Apparently one of those adjustments was a relief adjustment that he does on your first visit. More on this in a bit. Walking in, the place seems new with beautiful décor. However, I just can’t help but feel uncomfortable. The front desk girl is very smiley. Constantly. I know that that is supposed to be a good thing… but I just feel like I’m in a scene from Insidious, without the shotguns. Although the atmosphere was a lot like other Chiropractic offices I’ve been to, it seemed fake. It was as if they had gone to other offices to incorporate the same features that they had, e.g., white erase boards with«Thank You’s» for patients that sent in referrals*. I guess this isn’t a bad thing, but it doesn’t make it seem like they are doing their own thing. I did appreciate the curtains on the entry ways to the bed that«waves» your back. I forget what that machine is called. Dr. Robison was pretty friendly and seemed to be new in the field. I commend him on opening up his own practice so soon, if that is the case. We sat in his front office with the computer and spoke about my issues. It’s been a while, but I think we did the x-ray that day. It was in another room with a table and the x-ray machine. The process was pretty simple. As for that relief adjustment that he generally does after the x-ray, I advised Dr. Robison that I wasn’t comfortable with him adjusting my back without fully examining the x-rays first. He pushed the issue more than I think he should have, i.e., explaining what it would do and asking more than once if I was sure that I didn’t want it then. We scheduled a follow up to talk about what the x-rays had said and for the first adjustment. On the second visit, we reviewed the x-rays. He explained everything and answered all of my questions. At this point, I fessed up that I already had a chiropractor that I was happy with and just came in for the x-ray. So, I didn’t have any adjustments done on myself. As a positive point, I dispatched the information that the x-ray and Dr. R gave me to my chiropractor who confirmed that his tests gave the same information. So, Yay! Everyone was on the same page about my back and neck. The reason I give a rating of two instead of a three(not having an adjustment and all) is because I also bought a Groupon for my boyfriend who has some minor back pain. After his first visit,(relief adjustment and all) he said that he didn’t want to go back for the second adjustment because he was hurting more after than he was before. I urged him to go back because you will most generally be sore after the first couple of adjustments. After the second visit, he still felt that it just wasn’t right and swore to never go back to a chiropractor. I ended up convincing him to visit the chiropractor I was and still am seeing(view my page for other reviews if you want to find out whom), and he reneged his stance on chiropractic care. *Not sure why Chiropractors do this in the first place. A personal thank you note mailed to my address would be nice. My name on their board for telling someone to come? Eh.
