This place takes forever to bring out food. Rice-based sampler and fried catfish sandwich took over an hour plus. To top it off there really aren’t that many tables to begin with. It did taste good, but the wait was too long for homestyle product provided.

Ok, I’ve already reviewed Bayou Grill but I’m going to update my review. I must admit the service was kind of lacking when I first started going there but I must admit they have improved so much. They have a new waitress and she’s wonderful and I no longer have any complaints about the service anymore. I go here every Friday for the HURRICANES which happen to be the best(in my opinion). I think the bar tender is trying to turn me into a drunkard because I have to have one or two on Fridays. They taste so sweet and fruity but he doesn’t skimp on the liquor and that makes for the perfect combo. As a matter of fact every drink I order is always delicious and they are not expensive. And of course the food is always good!!!

The food was really good. I had fried chicken. The jambalaya was delicious. Unfortunately, the service received was not good. We will be back again for the food, and to give the service one more chance.

I’m torn… On one hand, the food was great. On the other, the«service» was terrible. Echoing some other reviews, «…be prepared to wait…» We received our waters about 20 minutes after ordering them… but yet they never refilled them or even asked about our drinks. We waited nearly 30 minutes for our salads. The food took about an hour to get to us, which again, was great tasting food. I asked for napkins on three different occasions, never got them. If you enjoy great Cajun food but don’t mind servers that genuinely don’t seem to care about you, this is probably your place.

Living on the panhandle of Florida for 9 yrs. and frequently visiting New Orleans/Mississippi Gulf coast, my expectations was extremely high to try this place. I got a full plate of oysters which cost 18.99 which is pretty expensive for 12 oysters, which wasn’t good! I have never had fried Oysters that weren’t fried with corn meal batter??? These were fried like jalapeño poppers(that style batter). I don’t know, but the batter was Off to me. It didn’t taste fresh, it tasted like they were frozen pre battered oysters that was thrown in the grease, that was too hot, due to this weird frozen after taste that was unpleasantly left in my mouth. I got the shrimp creole which came with jumbo style shrimps which was nice! But the flavor of the food just wasn’t there. Tasted like I was eating spicy tomato sauce with shrimp and rice. I also got corn bread with the meal which was good. That meal came with a salad or 2 sides, I opted for the 2 sides which I got fried okra and collard greens for the wife. The okra was your standard fried okra, which was decent. Nothing special! The wife said that the collard greens were good, with some kick to it! The wife got a cup of crawfish ettoufee, which she said was just«ok». She said that the collards were better. The wife also got Boudaine and again, she said it was just«ok» The sweat tea was good! You can tell it was homemade. Nice and sweet! I got bread pudding to go, which was again, «meh» It had pralines on it, which I really didn’t care for. I really don’t care for eating«crunchy» bread pudding Other than that, I won’t be back.

Best place in Edmond! Love the pace, the quiet space. Exceptional food and wonderful home feeling to the room. Great! Courtesy btw: if you are into fast food and split-fast pace, this place will either chill you out or you will be out the door, which is completely fine with me because I take great pleasure in a leisurely great tasting meal which is exactly what is served here, and I love the quiet.

The food was delicious BUT be prepared to wait a VERY long time for it. Picture two people with empty water glasses(because we had time for the ice to melt and drank that too) playing staring contest with a waitress on her phone. I would love to eat there again but the service was just too much to bear again.

Awesome dinner! Great food, drinks, and desserts. The only mistake was next time we will bring friends.

This place is a cozy joint that is low key. The waitress was friendly but a bit disengaged, spending spare time in the corner on her cell phone. I ordered the crab and shrimp mac & cheese. It was heavy but fairly decent. I had the fried okra too which was very crisp and large in portion size. The hush puppies were amazing! I found the prices to be a tad on the high side for both wine and food, but overall a decent dining experience.

Hands down the best creole fool I have had in Oklahoma. The seafood gumbo is incredible, I would have taken a picture of it but I ate it too fast. The staff is very friendly and knowledgable, and the owner is very friendly. Of all the food we ordered there wasn’t a single thing we didn’t like. I highly recommend making this a routine stop if. You are remotely close to the area.

Wow, just Wow. For reference, I have been a waiter before, and I worked hard for my tips, being enthusiastic and helpful on the ordering process with recommendations etc., constantly checking my tables, apologizing if things were taking a long time, and letting my tables know that I was on top of checking the kitchen for their dishes, refilling drinks etc… We walked into Bayou grill at 8pm. I had been here a few times before, and they are always a BIT on the slow side. There were maybe 10 tables filled when we arrived. An older African American woman approached us when we walked in. We sat down and started to look at the menu. She brought us waters. We looked at the menu and decided what we wanted, which was ~$ 50 worth of food. The«waitress» didn’t approach us or even LOOK at us for 20 minutes after we had decided what we wanted. I even held my hand in the air for a solid 5 minutes to try and get her attention. Finally, this nice little pregnant girl who was also waiting tables asked if anyone had helped us. I said NO, nobody has, and she started to take our order. It was at this point that the woman who was SUPPOSED to be waiting on us noticed someone else was actually acknowledging our existence, and stumbled over to take over. We quickly rattled off what we wanted, and I asked if she was going to bring corn bread or anything out to keep the kids at bay. I was informed the corn bread could take a long time, to which I sort of scowled. She walked off without ever taking the menus from the table. They sat there the entire meal. 15 minutes later a couple dry morsels of cornbread came out with a teeny pad of packaged butter spread. I quickly spread what there was of butter on the cornbread and fed it to my kids. It was a full hour from when we ordered until our food finally emerged from the kitchen. My cell phone was on low batt, and I had scrolled through every story on Yahoo news and every Facebook update in the past 24 hrs. My meal was supposed to come with a salad. Which should come out 10 minutes before the meal. It came out 5 minutes AFTER my main course, which was still BEFORE my wife’s food came out. The lady sauntered out and plopped the plate in front of me without asking if I needed anything, and quickly disappeared again. Eventually my wife’s food came out(after my salad). It was a crab platter, and the butter took an additional 5 minutes to come out. At this point there were only 4 tables filled in the whole restaurant, which is the size of a large living room, so you have to work pretty hard to completely ignore a customer in there. We ate, and at this point had been there for an hour and 45 minutes without anyone asking us if we needed anything, and without anyone refilling our long empty water glasses. At some point I was almost amused at how neglected we had been and I audibly shook the ice in my empty glass while mentioning to my wife nobody had refilled it in over an hour. Nobody came over to ask if we needed boxes, or anything else. It was my son’s birthday, and I was going to order desserts, but at this point we had been there nearly 2 hrs, without any service, and I didn’t want to prolong the agony. So I stood up and walked over to the woman who was supposed to be our waitress and handed her my credit card and asked the pregnant girl for a couple boxes. When she brought the boxes, she finally observed all of the water glasses were empty, and brought another glass of water after I had already signed the receipt. We finally escaped at 10pm. Wow. The only time I have ever had service equally as bad was at Denny’s, and I’m pretty sure the waitress quit during our service. I could see the wait staff for most of this time, and they were largely sitting on bar stools not doing anything. The quality of the food was irrelevant, and I’m not even going to comment on it in this review. This type of behavior for a restaurant is pretty appalling, especially given past complaints in the last few months with no efforts for improvement. Hence the 1 star review. I would suggest they hire some waiting/service talent, as it would seem they need something to make up for a pretty slow(under staffed?) kitchen.

Went there last night, 3/7/2015, unfortunately, can’t comment on the quality of the food. After a twenty minute wait we finally got to order the Fried Chicken Anduolle, which was listed as one the nights specials. After 45 minutes and no contact what so ever with our server, we heard another customer politely complain that he and his two young daughters had been waiting over an hour for their order of fried chicken. He hadn’t even received their soups, salads or bread. The chef came to his table and loudly informed him that it takes about 25 minutes to fry chicken. Totally unprofessional. We had somewhere we needed to be and had not planned on dinner lasting 2 hours. We finally flagged our server down, who informed us that our order would be right out. Twenty minutes later we flagged her down again and was given the same 22 minute fried chicken excuse. We couldn’t wait any longer so we paid for our drinks and left. We were really looking forward to trying their food, unfortunately we won’t be back.

We are frequent to this restaurant and this is my first EVER review. We waited a hour/half for a SALAD which is unacceptable. The service is POOR but food is good. I’f you want to wait extended period of time for food. EATHERE!

First time I’ve been here. It was awesome for me. Because I usually cannot find cooked greens, or collards, or spinach. They have collard greens and the taste was awesome. Great service too. I’m looking forward to trying more good food from their menu. I like vegetables and they have really good choices for me to make a vegetarian plate.

I tried only one thing there which was the seafood Gumbo. I had the bowl which was a good amount of food but not to overfill you. The rice was not mixed in but instead a scoop of rice was put in the center of the bowl and gumbo around it. I could actually taste the crab and the shrimp in the Gumbo was succulent and cooked right. The base of the gumbo was a bit more watery than I am used to but still very good nonetheless. The cornbread they brought out was good. They also brought out some croissants which seemed like they bought them from sams club or something. Not sure what was up with that. Maybe I got a bad batch. Overall though, solid food. Great gumbo. Real bayou cajun flavors. I like the mom and pop aspect of it. Service was good also.

I went here with the boyfriend and was surprised how empty the place was. After reading several reviews, I thought that it would be semi-packed. Anywho, the boyfriend ordered the fried chicken with fries and red beans and rice. The fried chicken was very good. It had a crispy exterior and a moist and juicy interior. I ordered the jambalaya, which was very tasty. It was spicy and flavorful. There was a good amount of sausage and shrimp, but I found that the portion was a bit small for the price. We also order the peach cobbler, which honestly was a mistake because it was not good and didn’t even seem like it was fully cooked. So do not get the peach cobble… All and all, Bayou Grill & Bakery had really good cajun food but was a tad expensive for their(small) portions and had funny peach cobbler.

The wait here was outrageous. The food was average at best and I didn’t see any alligator on the menu. The price is not worth the wait. Wont be back.

Not sure what I expected, but this was definitely more. Kind of a dark, comfortable place – jazz music playing in the background. Friendly waitstaff and a bartender who is quite a character. Very expansive menu, so much yet to try! Large drink menu – some specialty concoctions that I’m not sure if I’m brave enough to try! Food was very good, hot and reasonably priced. Steaks, Po-boys, pasta, even had Boudain on the menu! Definitely going back!

Stopped here with a group of 4 the other night. We had been wanting to try it, but they have unusual and somewhat limited dine in hours. I guess they do catering as well. That may be part of the reason for the odd schedule. So check the hours for the dining room before you head there to make sure they are open. It is located a few doors to the right of Interurban restaurant in the Kickingbird shopping center. Plenty of parking. Not a huge place. Casual. There are some tall tables for two along the one wall. They also have live music on some nights. They have a fair selection of items on the menu, seafood, sandwiches, chicken, chops, desserts. Complimentary corn bread and croissants are the first things to arrive to get started on. At our table, I had the fisherman’s platter. I think it may have been the most expensive dish on the menu at $ 24. It was good. It consisted of a grilled portion of fish and then fried fish and fried shrimp, definitely plenty to eat. It was supposed to come with a crab cake, but the chef decided to make a menu change. I also ordered the sweet potato which was good with the butter and brown sugar on it. There were also 3 sauces on the side. The fish was good as was the shrimp, but I would opt for a non fried version next time. The other guests had pork chops, blackened catfish, and gumbo. They all enjoyed theirs. However, service was not all at once. So I was eating mine for about 10 minutes before the remaining two dishes came out. It would have been better to get it all at once, but they have their method that works for them in the kitchen, so you just have to go with the flow. Drink menu is good and have some interesting combos. All the mixed drinks were good. Service was good. On our next trip I think I will try the gumbo or jambalaya. You can get a cup or bowl of it. The gumbo got a big thumbs up from person in our group who ordered it. Very casual place. Come as you are. There are other items on the menu I would like to try, so another trip will be on the agenda. Give it a try if you are by the Kickingbird theatres. Thumbs up.
