This place is more of a cool setting for young children to come to and just enjoy the surrounding scenes. It does look like a forest and has animals that come alive every 15 minutes. The atmosphere is cool and stuff. My girlfriend and I had the Taste of Islands dish. It has breaded coconut shrimp, fish, scallops, and shrimp. It was alright. Maybe a little bit salty. My girlfriend’s niece and nephew ordered from the kids menu. They had the Pizza and Pasta with white sauce. They seemed to thoroughly enjoy their meal especially when they got those souvenir animal cups. For dessert we had the Volcano Cake. They made look like a volcano, but it’s really nothing special. Ice cream stacked in the middle, brownies surrounding the ice cream with whip cream and chocolate sauce on top.

I can’t believe I haven’t rated this place yet! This is a favorite for the kid, for obvious reasons. It’s a far drive for us, which is good and bad. We don’t have to go all the time, but when we do go, it’s a ride! The atmosphere is absolutely great, of course, that’s their thing. We always have a good time when we go. It’s always clean, though the bathrooms might need a little more attention every now and then. It isn’t terrible, especially when you think about the amount of children that go through there. Service is spotty. Sometimes you get excellent, sometimes you get shoot me. Our visit yesterday was a «meh.» The host, Robbie(? I think?) was terrific and helpful. The waitress wasn’t spectacular but she wasn’t as bad as we’ve had them in the past. The service isn’t consistent at all. One time we got a waitress who must have been on another planet because she didn’t get one thing correct in our order. The last time we had Wonder Woman — she was phenomenal. I mostly always get the BBQ Bacon Cheeseburger because I know it is safe. The SO gets different things, usually revolving around steak, I don’t know why — I tell him it’s a waste of time but he doesn’t listen. Last night he finally relented and went with the fish tacos. The munchkin pretty much always gets the Jurassic Chicken Tidbits, which there aren’t complaints over. She and I both get broccoli as a side, which is usually under cooked and hard to eat, but it’s alright. The tacos were okay for the SO. He finished everything. My burger was good, but it comes with an onion ring. It was so teeny tiny and the bacon was all crammed on one side. I got a good laugh out of it and ate it anyway. Overall, I think the menu is too complicated and pricey. If they simplified it would be so much better. People would be happier with the price and taste then. They still get the traffic though. One other complaint — we always go in as three and every freaking time they sit us at a huge round table. I hate it. It’s like«here guys, have dinner completely separate from each other. One of us is always isolated. if I sit in the middle, then I have to basically turn my back on my man to interact with the kid and vice versa. I HATE this so much. Last time I complained and we got moved to a square table, which is so much nicer. This time I didn’t have the energy to do so. What I do like about Rainforest is the atmosphere, of course. I love when the animals go crazy — sometimes all together, sometimes different groups at a time. I love the store and we love the crocodile outside the restaurant. The store has things of varying prices so you can get away with a little figure. We are Landry’s Select Club members, and the manager came around to thank us for being members, etc. However, they do this anyway. Every time we have been there, the manager has come around at least once to see how things are going. They genuinely care about you having a good experience and I appreciate that. They interact well with the Bean too, which is nice. She is a person and I like that they acknowledge that. Last, the Volcano thing is so worth it. It was the Munchkin’s birthday, so we ordered it for her. They come out yelling, «Volcano!!» in a line, stick a candle in it and sing. If it’s not a birthday, they still yell out, «Volcano!!» It’s a pile of ice cream surrounded by brownie and topped with whipped cream. I think there’s caramel and chocolate syrup too. I’m not sure. I get in a frenzy and am hypnotized by it’s deliciousness. Excellent for kids. I also like how they change the kid’s menu frequently. We hardly ever get the same coloring & activities. We’re super happy with it, despite the shortfalls in the price and food quality.

Oh man, I gotta stop eating at mall«restaurants». Feels like I have the worst luck at these places… Stopped by here with the family figuring my kids would get a kick out of it, they actually freaked a bit about the big moving gorilla we were seated next to(wish they would have warned us since we have young children). Placed our order for the kids first and had the waitress submit their orders to the kitchen while the wife and I look over the menu. This is where it went bad, all my wife and I ordered were appetizers to share when she came back. After that, my kids food came out, but we had to ask for my son’s Mac and Cheese to be replaced since it was basically Mac and butter and cream with zero taste and wasn’t even warm. From there, close to an hour later of waiting, we asked where our food was we and the waitress said the ticket is up and the food should be coming soon. What the heck does that mean? We told the waitress to cancel our food and give us the check so we can leave. Never again!

I have been to this location several times when visiting my family and have had good experiences however, this time was pretty horrible. We had a big group and I had made reservations to come in at 6:10. We showed up at that time and the manager kept saying 5 minutes at least 3 times. It took over 20 minutes to get seated and an hour to get our food which was not very hot. We had 3 orders of fish and chips and it took an half hour to bring us tartar sauce because they were making it. The manager did bring a new orders of fish and chips but the damage was done. While I love the rainforest café I wouldn’t recommend this location.

Not fine dining but certainly a fun place for the kids between the robotic animals and rain storms. The place was certainly clean and I saw a cleaner going to every table to clean it. Met by friendly hostesses who also went table to table to check on everything. The chicken finger kids meal was exactly as you would expect as were the chicken strips. I had a BBQ wrap and coffee which was a bit harsh but okay. Clean, hostess was fine. Fast food with some fun extras in a mall. Certainly fine for the kids and a decently good meal.

First time I was at a rainforest café was many years ago in Disney world. From what I remember it was a fun themed restaurant that kids loved. Fast forward 15 years – my sister says let’s all meet at the rainforest in Edison. Ok cool. Well where to even begin. I make a 730 reservation for 11. We show up at 7 but are not seated till 8:00. No biggie we hang at the bar. The bar area is gross. The actual bar is greasy and dirty. The floor has dirt on it and looks like it hasn’t been swept in weeks. The friendly barmaid hands us drink menus they to are dirty and greasy. Off to a great start right. We all order overpriced horrible tropical drinks. Not one was any good. Finally table is ready. We order more drinks and a bunch of appetizers. 20 minutes go buy and still no drinks. Finally after asking for them they arrive at about the 25 minute mark. She asks if we are ready to order our meals so we do. 25 minutes later our meals start to arrive – wait we never got our appetizers. Omg I’m so sorry. Let me go check on that. Unreal. Finally the apps come out. Within 3 minutes of that our meals are again showing up. We just accept them and let it go. Here is what I will say about the food. Horrible. Not one dish was cooked properly and not one had any flavor. The presentation was like it was thrown on the plate. I had chicken and shrimp. The chicken was so over cooked it couldn’t be eaten or even cut up. The shrimp were cold and tough. Sandra had ribs and steak. I feed my dogs better cuts of meat than what they served her. It didn’t matter how you ordered your steak it came out just about well done. The ribs were dry and stale. They definitely weren’t cooked the day we were there just reheated. My brother in-law also ordered ribs. Took one bite and said forget it. Just terrible. Besides being bad the amount of food they give you is actually like a kids portion. If anything was any good there wasn’t enough. My sister Cheri ordered salmon and asked for it to be cooked medium. It came out well done and bite sized. Not one of the 11 dishes was enjoyed. I will say the people who work there are friendly and do there best to accommodate you but there is just something missing. Overall the place is terrible. Thank GOD for good company cause we sure didn’t go there for the food. Will never waste my time or money again. Good luck

Even if u have kids do not come here. Came because I had a gift card and even then it’s not worth it. Disgusting food! Got the«awesome appetizer» that wasn’t so awesome. Tasted like stuff I could have heated up from my freezer. I got the BBQ chicken wrap which tasted like mush couldn’t eat more than 2 bites and the gf had one bite of the burger and that was it. Keep in mind that I NEVER leave food but this was gross. Waitress didn’t ask why we barely ate our food didn’t seem to care. Won’t return. couldn’t pay me to return

Ok, so my son wanted to go to this place for his birthday. I wouldn’t even give this place one star. Everything here is frozen and shipped. FOODISDISGUSTING. We actually left and went somewhere else to eat but not before paying $ 80 dollars. I ordered a simple grilled chicken sandwich and it was bought out to me RAW. I was disgusted after that and the fact that the bathrooms were filthy, I wanted to take my kids to their doctor’s office afterwards, so needless to say we decided to leave. DONOTGOHERE. I never been to a Rainforest café chain and this was my first time eating in. My fiancé and I were seated and we ordered a combo(steak and ribs), rainforest burger, and cheese sticks. A little over an hour later – yeah we took the time – we still haven’t received our food. After 2 waiters later the manager came out and apologized to us that the food will be coming out shortly. Unfortunately, we only had about 30 minutes to try and enjoy our food before the restaurant closes. Yeah, great experience.

Can I give a zero? Can you deserve a negative star? The answer to the first question is no the second… absolutely. This ws the second time at this horrible restaurant. I am not sure what venue any of the positive reviewers dined at but it most certainly wasn’t this one. We chose to eat here with out party of 9 because of 2 diners with allergies, the«chef”(I use the term with the bile backing up in my throat… It hits hoe to me as I earned that title and don’t enjoy it being thrown around lightly) came out to discuss and suggest dishes. This being said, you would think that the order would have been correct right? WRONGO!!! Now keep in mind the server was doing her absolute best to get everything down… taking the order to a T…45 minutes later our«food» came out… every burger at the table cooked to the wrong temperature and the child’s allergy meal screwed up to a borderline dangerous situation. In comes the manager. Could he explain why this happened? why would he? The large apathetic blob of a man could have given a crap less even when pointing out the fact that what just happened was an actual health risk for the table… I thought that we were getting to talk to 2 mangers but low and behold the other person was someone following him around… wait for it… TOALSOCOMPLAINABOUTTHEHORRENDOUSSERVICE!!! I really thought it had to be a fluke when the first chance I gave this place they took an hour to bring out our food… unfortunately it seems to be the norm. The food was overpriced and horrible. As I said the only bright spot was our server.

Man people are so spoiled. This place is awesome if you have little kids or any sense of fun and wonder. It’s fricking raining inside! There are simulated thunderstorms! That doesn’t impress you? Ok. The huge elephants and water columns– nothing? You must be dead inside. Just on logistics, if you have a little kid this place is a life saver. Our waitress at the bar was awesome, she asked if we wanted our toddlers food out first, and said feel free to walk around, play with the puppets and check out the animated animals while our food was getting ready. Usually we fear going out for dinner, this was so easy! Fajitas, yeah they were expensive but actually really delicious and nutritious, and they give you a ton of food with good quality chicken. My hubby said his burger was yummy. My son enjoyed his unremarkable Mac n cheese corn, fun covered milk cup, and ice cream sandwich ordered from a book of activities for kids that has a picture menu and crayons. Come on. That’s worth the money for me to get out of the house. Add that it’s in a lively mall where we can stroll around, hit Barnes and noble too and bam, it almost feels like a date. Tip get a reservation, but sitting at the bar was totally fine.

Been here several times and never had a problem. Food is always good and staff is friendly. My son had the kids pizza and loved it. I had the hickory chicken which was very good. My husband had nachos which he enjoyed. Overall a good experience again. It is what it is… a themed chain restaurant targeted for kids and located in a mall. As long as you go in knowing this, you shouldn’t be too disappointed or surprised. We’ll be back again.

I had chicken fajitas. I was starving and it was good. A good portion too. I couldn’t even finish it! For dessert, the big brownie they advertise is very big. The brownies weren’t warm at all though. And I specifically requested that they warm them. No more fish in the tank and this location.

No stars would be best. Went to this location for a quick lunch. It was empty. When I say empty I mean we were the only table there. Took 8 minutes to be greeted to begin with and a few minutes to grab to sodas… because it’s more important for staff to talk about tv shows instead of doing their jobs. After our food order was taken, we waited 30 minutes before I personally walked through out the whole restaurant looking for someone to ask about the food. Not a single soul in sight. By this point, I made the best decision of the whole experience to just walk out. What a failure of a restaurant.

Food: Everything was good. We started with the onion rings. My wife had the turkey club and I had the cheeseburger. My burger was good. Maybe not the best, but I’d definitely get it again. My wife’s club was actually well above average. The avocado was the kicker. My kids had the chicken fingers and fries. Pretty basic but it worked. Big portions. Service: pretty slow to get started, but very polite. And they were happy to refill asap. Atmosphere: this is what you pay for. Trees, animals, storm noises etc. My daughter loved it. Misc: 2 adults, 2 kids, $ 70 including tip. No complaints. I’m sure we’ll go back, but if you’re not worried about the ambiance, Chills works better for my family.

Restaurant was nearly empty at 1:45 on a Tuesday afternoon. Should have taken that as a hint. No hostess at entrance. Waited behind another couple with their children for a few minutes until a hostess appeared. Seated at a booth(at my request.). Hostess told us someone would be with us shortly. Waited 25 minutes, without a waiter/waitress/or even a simple glass of water, trying to get the attention of staff, who would look away and make a mad dash for the rear of the restaurant Got up and went to the hostess station. Asked for the manager. 10 minutes later, he appears from the rear of the restaurant(it must be getting crowded back there) Got a lame, insincere apology, and an offer to expedite my order.(Mmmmm… Rushed and undercooked food!). Declined the offer and went elsewhere. Save yourself the aggravation and take your kids somewhere else.

During a recent conversation about Rainforest Café, my girlfriend and I were surprised to see that there were any still in existence as we thought them deforested a long time ago. We decided to come to relive some childhood memories. Yes, this place is primarily for children and may have lost its luster a long time ago, but it was nice to come back. Service was attentive, food was alright, probably in line with anything you can get at Applebee’s, Friday’s or the like. I don’t think it’s as bad as some of the reviews and overall rating would suggest, although it definitely shows its age. A lot of items in the gift shop were dusty, leading me to wonder when the last time anyone bought something from there was.

I was really excited to come here after years to experience the nostalgia of being a kid again. Sadly, it left a lot to be desired and made me happy that as an adult I’ll never choose to eat here again. One positive is that the environment is a fun one, with cool animatronics and playful decorations. Unfortunately this was the only positive to the meal. For appetizers me and my date ordered the sampler(cheese sticks, fried wontons, chicken fingers, spinach and artichoke dip). This was only around 5PM so the place wasn’t very full yet it took 30 – 40 minutes for the food to come out. When it came out, the chips were soggy, and the fried wontons were limp and not crispy at all. The chicken fingers tasted like they had just been defrosted and thankfully the mozzarella sticks were passable. Even though after we waited a long time and told the staff to being out the entrée at the same time as the appetizer, still had to wait 15 more minutes. We shared the bbq shredded chicken wrap… which was horrible. The wrap was fried to a crisp(odd that my fried wontons were soggy by my wrap was as stif as cardboard) and the inner shredded chicken feeling was missing all aspects of flavor. To make matters worse, when we got the bill, it took another 20 minutes for our server to collect the check. We had to hunt down another server to expedite the process. All in all, this place is still great for kids. They won’t be able to remember the tardy service and dispassionate food provided to them. As for adults… I don’t think I’ll ever be coming back here.

Worst food establishment I’ve been to in years. This says a lot considering we eat out often and I never hand out one stars to a restaurant. Once we were seated we waited around 25 minutes before I had to ask for a waiter to come see us. Once out waiter came she was very frazzled and didn’t even apologize for the wait. Her exact words were«didja guys have to wait a bit? Well my names blah blah and I’ll be your server for tonight.» When taking out order she seemed in a rush to leave. Once she took our order it took another 40 mins just for the appetizers to come out. Then the dinner came out literally 5 minutes after the appetizer and half of our food was cold. I think the problem with this place is that it is severely understaffed. This place is a severe blemish to the Rainforest Café chain. I will never return here again.

I always Hated this place, but somehow it’s even worse than before. my 2 little cousins love coming here, for little kids it’s over stimulating and super fun. overpriced kitschy drink cups and crappy kids meals, what could be bad? how about every single food I have ever eaten? it’s chain food, and they can’t even execute that right. most recently we tried to make a reservation for a Saturday for 6pm. they said they are booked so we come at 730. with 2 kids. I walk in to meet my family and the place is DEAD. how can you say booked when you have more waiters than people? our orders were all messed up. they came at different times. the food was cold and tasteless. a sad rendition of happy birthday was for my cousin. and we got hosed for all our money when the bill came. DONTGO. this place has seen its prime a decade ago and it shows.

This is one of those instances where I wish I could give an extra half-star, or round up to three. But I’d be lying if I said the Rainforest Café was A-OK, because well, it’s not. It’s tolerable at best, and barely at that. I can remember decades ago when they were building out the Rainforest Café in the Menlo Park Mall. It wasn’t long after the actual mall transformation itself. I remember it being a big deal, all this construction of something big and dramatic. As it came together, you got this sense of wonder and excitement as if a little bit of Disney was making its way into sad, old Edison, New Jersey. When it finally opened, it really was a big deal. I recall the line to get in snaking all the way out into the main corridor of the mall. What seemed like hundreds of adults and screaming kids, all waiting to be corralled into its cavernous lair to dine on cute-sounding dishes like the Flying Dragon Pepperoni Flatbread or the Lava Nachos — the latter of which sounds more descriptive of what comes out *after* you eat here. But of course, the kids love it. And that’s the only reason the Rainforest Café continues to exist. In fact, should you ever dine here and discover other grown adults eating here without children, please make a citizen’s arrest immediately and escort them off the planet. My wife and I survive trips here by ordering the safer dishes you’ll find on the menu. She prefers the Portabella Wrap while I typically roll the dice with the Chicken Salad Sandwich. Neither are particularly good, but it will suffice as a meal with the kids. Luckily, our trips to the Rainforest Café seem to have whittled down to only once a year, and with the children growing older, I expect we’ll soon be able to write this place off for good. Until then, I will remain thankful that they have a bar. For when all else fails, a drink or two can easily help numb the incessant sounds of animatronic monkeys and elephants and the bratty little children who love them so.

There used to be a Rainforest Café near me in NY, but it shut down years ago. Therefore, when I stumbled across this one I was so happy! The service was great as was the food. We had a great waitress as well
