My son found his long lost big brother at H&M. Every time we stop in, he greets us with a smile, and shows us the newest trends in men’s apparel. He always looks fabulous, no matter what he wears, and never minds when we ask him to pose for a picture… although he is a bit pale in the face. He isn’t too chatty, and can sometimes seem a bit stiff, but you can’t blame him, he is a mannequin, after all! Manny never lets us down. As far as the clothing goes, it’s alright. Lots of variety under $ 30. Seems to be a variety of both staples and trends. We always seem to go back, not sure how much we actually buy there vs. shop, but I guess it depends on the particular trends at the time. Definitely worth checking out… and if you do stop in, say hi to Manny for us!

We all know what H&M has to offer. They have relatively cheap clothing, not quite as cheap as Forever 21, with good quality that lasts. Southdale’s H&M is one of my favorites because it has significantly less foot traffic than MOA. If you find something at MOA, chances are that it will sell out of your size. So run on over to Southdale. This H&M tends to hold on to their merchandise a little longer than at the Mall. You might have a chance of getting that cute belt or sexy sandals!

H&M now has 4 locations in the Twin Cities — Mall of America, Southdale Center, Woodbury, and Maplewood Mall(as of April 2011). As a guy, I can find almost anything here, and for cheap. Their v-neck sweaters typically cost around $ 30-$ 35, and in my experience, they actually last much longer than more expensive sweaters from Banana Republic. I also like that sport coats(i.e. blazers) are usually only around $ 60, so you can add staples to your wardrobe for a fraction of the cost vs. department stores. For guys, it’s also the perfect way to find gifts for female friends or relatives. You can be creative and splashy with colors or accessories without having to drop a bunch of cash. One note: I have never had success buying jeans(or any pants, really) at H&M. As a guy, unless you’re built with thin legs, you’re going to have a hard time making them fit.

H & M is a great place if you want to update your wardrobe for cheap. For those not in the know, H & M is a massive clothing store chain from Europe. They have tons of stylish clothes in here for reasonable prices but they aren’t always made with the best quality(You get what you pay for I guess). Many of the clothes you get from H & M are hand wash only so that can be time consuming too. I was, however, recently impressed by their Spring 2010 clothing line which featured clothes made out of organic cotton that were reasonably priced. It goes to show you that you can produce something from organic cotton that doesn’t cost you an arm and a leg(Hello Bono’s Nude clothing line, I’m talking to you!)
