Went for dinner last night. The communication from the server/host was lacking. Throughout my meal I think he said about 10 words to me. The restaurant is a bit run down and there were 3 people in the restaurant including me. I ordered the channa masala and some naan. The food was 3 stars, but the overall experience was poor. I won’t be back.

Stopped here when visiting a friend here in Minnesota who lives nearby. I frequent top Indian restaurants in Northern California and have high expectations when it comes to Indian food. I was a bit worried because the place was empty when we arrived. We were pleasantly surprised by the excellent food. Chicken Tiika Masala was tender, juicy and perfectly spiced-zippy and fragrant. The Naan bread was fresh from the tandoor oven, perfectly blistered and had a pleasant tang. The Palak Paneer was also very good. Spices were tasty and well-balanced. Staff were pleasant and attentive.

I come here every once in a while with the co-workers when we want Indian. It’s not bad. it’s not great. It’s a decent sized buffet. Could use more heat and some more complexity to the flavors but it works in a pinch. I do like that they always seem to have rice pudding in the dessert section. I’m a sucker for the stuff!

It’s a shame how this place has gone steadily downhill. It’s pretty convenient, but it’s really been hit or miss(mostly miss) lately — dry tandoor food, oddly undercooked Chana Masala, unpredictable dal. Most recent visit was really not good… It’s gotten to the point where we’re more likely to rub a rack of lamb with spice, throw it on the grill, and maybe pick up rice and naan. I don’t know what’s going on there lately; a year ago, I’d have given them 3 stars, but they’re off their game.

I try to be fair when I do my reviews. With that being said I went for the lunch buffet, they a lot of different dishes but they were pretty much all bland, not spicy enough, chicken was watery and the tandoori chicken was dry. Their rice pudding desert was not done correctly and not as good as I had it in other places. Any how their bread was really good and price was average. I will not be coming back

We have always enjoyed the food we have purchased here! They have a good range of spices from mild to the more intense. It is a treat!

Have had pretty good experiences here before but this past trip was a big disappointment. We had a party of four with just two other people in the restaurant. We were informed they hadn’t renewed their liquor license(never a good sign for a restaurant) so no beer or wine available. Seondly the service was snail-paced with our server disappearing for long stretches doing heaven knows what. I ordered the lamb curry but unfortunately the lamb was very fatty. I told our server this and he mumbled something about telling the chef but that’s the last I heard of it. The other people in our party seemed pleased with their entrees but that couldn’t make up for the slowww service and my almost inedible entrée. With the whole liquor license thing it makes me wonder if they are even going to be in business in a few weeks. Too bad.

Extremely disappointed. Honesty I’m actually appalled and angry that they would be serving such low standard Indian food even during dinner. How can anyone go wrong with Indian food? Guess it happens. The only delicious irony is that the very dish the restaurent is named after«Biryani» was the worst food. All the dishes felt like it was soaked in excessive oil and massive layers of butter to glaze the flavor.

Boy, this restaurant is located in a part of Edina I didn’t even know existed! It’s like way, way, out west of France Ave. It’s sort of the industrial section. The exterior and interior of this place is nothing to Unilocal about. But, our server was pretty polite and attentive. I like my curry«super spice» so, when I asked the server how they rated their dishes in terms of spicy-ness he told me that«Indian spice» was the hottest I could get. So, I ordered my saag paneer that way. When the food came out, I really didn’t find it spicy at all. However, I could tell that the spinach was fresh rather than out of a can. It would be really hard for me to give this place a bad review since the servers seem really nice but if they could just ramp up the spice level I’d be a much happier girl!

I work about 5 minutes away so it’s a pretty convenient lunch buffet spot. The service is friendly but this place is never really packed for lunch. It’s pretty dimly lit and looks a little run-down. The garlic naan is probably the best thing here since it’s one of the only things they regularly replace. The goat and beef curry are not bad, but it’s always lacking meat. Mostly filled with potatoes when I get it. Tandori chicken is good when they bring out a fresh batch. Not dry and has some flavor, but again you don’t always get fresh food due to the lack of customers. I have been back a couple of times, but that has been due purely to convenience.

The food was ok, but tasted like it was old. Service was sssssssslllllllooooooooowwwwwwww, even though there were only two customers. Seasoning was unbalanced, certain things you expect to have moderate heat were way hot and the main dishes were mild and you weren’t given the choice of heat level. Passing on this place next time.

Outstanding food & friendly service. Rogan josh, beef curry & garlic naan to.die.for. We plan to make this a regular haunt. All I ask is for natural lighting in the dining room.

Haven’t been back here in a while and decided to stop in for lunch recently. Have to echo the sentiments of another reviewer on here: Food quality has definitely regressed and things are frequently not refilled on the buffet. Not sure if it’s the cause or effect of declining effort but lunch crowds seem to have also died out. The search for a quality Indian lunch buffet is back on!

Several years ago I would have rated the lunch buffet 5 stars. Unfortunately, the quality of the food had declined. One example is the Vegetable Biryani, made with frozen vegetables. They are slow to refill food, and sometimes you have to ask them to refill it before they do. The vegetarian entrees now contain filler like potatoes, where it used to be paneer or mushrooms. Sometimes the food is cold. They used to have the best chutney, that is history too. And the worst part? The owner/cook, no matter if you go everyday, NEVER smiles. I will add on the good days, the food is excellent, but this is more miss than hit.

We ate from the dinner menu early on a Wednesday evening. The dining room was all but empty; but there was a steady stream of people getting take-out. We had the vegetarian dinner for two, with palak paneer and matar paneer, garlic naan, kheer, and gulab jamun. Everything was excellent and distinctive; the palak was fresh, with the taste of spinach clearly dominant. The mint and onion chutneys were exceptionally good. Service was by a young man who was competent and friendly, without approaching intrusiveness. The only down side is the limited vegetarian selection. The vegetarian menu is conventional US Indian restaurant, plus one vegetarian biryani option. No dosa, no sambhar(unless«lentil soup» was sambhar). Spice was generally mild.

Of the few Indian buffets I’ve had in the Twin Cities area, this one has been one of the better ones. They have a great variety(I went for a Friday lunch): chicken curry, beef vindaloo, lamb curry, saag with chicken, cabbage, veggie curry, veggie pakora, fish pakora, basmati rice, saffron basmati rice, naan, this fried bread thing. Desserts included mango pudding with cocktail fruit, rice pudding, dessert balls(not sure what these are called anymore). The flavor isn’t spot on but it’s better than most places I’ve been to in the area. The wait staff are super friendly, but I do have to warn you that toward the end of the day(I got there @ 1pm when they close the buffet @ 2pm) they tend to slow down a lot on refilling dishes. So if you want to go, make sure to go closer to noon. It’s $ 10.72pp after tax and is much more worth it than other Indian buffets, at least so far.

It’s all about the lunch buffet for me. Always a variety and always good. The offerings change from visit to visit as well. The waitstaff is great. Only issue I’ve noticed is that they can be slow to replenish items, especially the Naan. Other than that, perfection.

I think their food is excellent! I make a point to eat here at least once a month. My favorite is the Chicken Masala which is spicy and extremely flavorful. I combine this dish with the Samosa as an appetizer and there is more than enough food for two. I highly recommend the Naan breads as they are fabulous!

We had the vegetarian dinner for two delivered for dinner. It was a lot of food, so we will have plenty of leftovers. The appetizer platter items were all fried, but very good. We had the matar paneer and the bindi masala for our curries. They had a little heat to them, but not over-powering. The homemade mango ice cream was delicious. The only negative was that a couple of our items were not packaged well and leaked in the bags. Also, the price was a little on the high side, but you get a lot of food. I think we may try the buffet next time we go. I would definitely do it again. Fast service for the delivery as well. We have had take out here a couple more times since our initial delivery. Each time something in our order is not correct. However, the food is good and the price reasonable. Good option for takeout Indian in our neighborhood.

I cannot for the life of me remember what this place used to be called, but I do remember that the food was a bit better before. I wouldn’t blame that entirely on new management, because I recall the quality slowly degrading. Their mango lassi and mango or rice pudding are some of the best. The buffet is OK. You have the typical curries and vindaloo. Unfortunately, the last time I was here most of the dishes were just slightly above room temperature and you could tell they had been sitting out a while. I simply cannot give more than 3 stars to any buffet that does not serve you naan instead of leaving it out. Also, there isn’t chicken makhani. I’m not going to go out of my way for a place without that dish. It is otherwise a decent buffet with the usual dishes.
