Located in a small plaza in Edgewater, is Honey Hive Bakery Cakes by Rachel. The little local spot serves up great breakfasts, lunch sandwiches, and assorted coffee drinks. You must try the Cuban sandwich. The only Cuban I’ve eaten close to this good was in Miami. The staff is super friendly and atmosphere is welcoming. Now…the cakes and pastries! After eating many of the pastries, I decided to order my son’s graduation cake from here. What a great decision that was. The cake was perfectly decorated, but most important was really moist and tasty. The guests recognized that this was no chain store cake and everyone raved about it. Highly recommend for any special occasion if you want a quality cake for a reasonable price.

Delicious Killer Bee French Toast. It’s a crosiant dipped in egg wash and coated in Cinnamon Toast Crunch Cereal. Served with a dallop of cold whipped cream type goodness. And the cutest maple syrup dispenser I’ve ever seen.

The desserts are good. I especially like the tarts. The coffee drinks are not good. The breakfast food looks great. I can’t wait to try it.

We’re new to the area, so we went to the closest bakery, Honey Hive, to order cupcakes to take to a party. Their cupcakes were $ 2.75 each, but I figured if they were yummy, full size and well decorated, they’d be worth the price. We had also ordered different flavors they had. We picked them up, took them home and opened the boxes and I was totally floored at what I saw! They were ‘kid size’ and about two bites for most adults. Plus the one I sampled was dry and stuck to the wrapper. What A dissapointment and a rip off.

My wife and I have gotten coffee at Honey Hive a few times. Each time, we order a Breve. They have always been served much cooler than you’d expect — almost like the Half & Half was never steamed at all. We definitely wouldn’t go out of our way to go back with all the other coffee options available.

A hidden café located inside of a modern shopping center, The Honey Hive is a café most people have never heard of. What Honey Hive does best is Cakes. Rachels Cakes is a sub-service inside of the Honey Hive café which specializes to people who need cakes. Wedding, birthday’s or a special occasion the Honey Hive is a great option when considering who will make your special occasions cake. Coffee here is slightly generic but bold and flavorful(arabica coffee can be quite plan sometimes). Café options range from fraps to cappuccinos but are better than Starbucks. Overall this location maybe«off the beaten path» but it is worth the time to check it out — 4 stars.
