Very friendly and quick service. Enjoyed the tofu clay pot and onion fried pancakes. Haven’t tried the dim sum on the weekend but my parents say it’s very popular!

What. The Frick. Happened? When New Beijing opened in Eden Prairie, my family and I dined at this joint every month. We wanted them to have success and helped spread their dim sum gospel to our friends. Unfortunately, during our last two visits, both the food and service became almost unbearable. ***** I. FOOD&DRINK If you peruse through my previous review of this establishment, I outlined all of the dishes that I tried there. With the exception of the chicken feet — still adequate — everything else tasted either previously frozen, bland, or undercooked. For example, the radish cake had no radishes!(lol!) And damn, they’re hella affordable. Still don’t get my point? The food was so boring, I even saw a super chubby kid read a book instead of eat. Y’all know chubby kids love to eat. II. SERVICE We made reservations a couple days in advance. And like anyone that has ever made a reservation before, one would expect for a table to be ready at the said time. Well, not only was our table of seven not ready, but they didn’t even have enough chairs!(lol!) When we asked them if they could get the chairs for us, THEYTOLDUSTOCARRYTHECHAIRSFROMTHEWAITINGAREAINTOTHEDININGROOMOURSELVES. Lol! Yo, we ain’t your cousins. Are y’all f’real? Aside from that, one of the ladies pushing the dim sum carts kept ramming hers into a neighboring table, as well as my mom’s chair. She didn’t even apologies, despite doing so several times. If I knew which car was hers, I definitely would’ve considered stealing her tire caps. That’s right. Don’t mess with my ma, or you’ll lose your tire caps. Or worse. Although both of these incidences were whack, they’re totally forgivable if they had great food. But it wasn’t. I rarely ever complain about restaurant service, too. Update: –I forgot to mention that they gave us a few dirty plates. Huge egg stains on them. Ew. III. OVERALL For all I care, we could have been sitting on mini plastic chairs on Highway 5 surrounded by flaming zombies with chainsaws if it meant eating delicious dim sum. I would’ve possibly forgave the dim sum cart rammer, or host who asked us to carry our own chairs. But the food did not satisfy whatsoever. Thus, it’s not worth dealing with their rudeness. So, take your time and money and go somewhere else.

I have since given this restaurant another chance, mainly because Chanhassen has terrible Chinese restaurants. The food has gotten much better and the smell is no longer there. The service has always been good.

Okay. I’ve had my fair share of Dim Sum. Though; yes, this is no CA or TX Dim Sum. However, YES this is authentic. and YES it is good! Honestly, I truly would pick this place over some other place that have been around for a while; just because it is better quality and better pricing. I’ve been here a few times. Maybe about 3 or 4. Every single time there are Asian folks. Soo. Ahem. Walking in, you may or may not be greeted. Really depends on if they are busy or not. But this is normal; I mean, come on this happens everywhere! Dim Sum is usually in the morning on weekends, so get up early! There will be the dim sum carts rolling around and about to give out the Dim Sum! Not only do they have Chinese Broccoli, but they also have this sponge cake that is very very delicious. The food is hot and fresh, and very filling. Bottom Line: It is. hot and fresh.

Came here with my Chinese family and we loved the dim sum. Service was great, food was delicious and inexpensive for dim sum. Fed a family of six for a total of $ 60. Will come back again if ever in the area again!

Good variety of dim sum at a better than expected quality, and a very competitive price compared to other offerings in town. Some items did appear to have been prepared way ahead of time(re-steamed) and thus overcooked. Otherwise, quite happy with overall value.

Service this place deserves a zero. You read it right. A big fat 0. Why? Well because it’s nonexistent. I get it. You’re busy when dim sum time hits. It’s hectic but you’re not the only one in town that get hits with a rush in the weekend. Giving us unwashed cups(they were brand new from the paper box) was disgusting. Just unsanitary! This was even before any of the food came out. Food wise. I’d give it two stars. One or two things that were good and the rest were meh. I’m so used to authentic xiao long bao so when the first batches came out, I was so turned off. Yes, I get turned off by food. They have the same dull selection as Mandarin Kitchen.

Dim sum in the burbs. Found this little gem after moving to Eden Prairie. My friends and I have extensively sampled and searched out dim sum restaurants in the Twin Cities and will be adding this to our top three favorites. We came late, but everything was still hot and fresh. The selection was a bit limited because we were late, but the staff was happy to take orders and the kitchen cooked up fresh. My mom, who used to own her own restaurant, gave it her nod of approval(very rare, normally she complains about everything!!!) The favor was good, and everything was cooked just right. Then to really make an Asian mother’s day, they had a buy one get one free sale for all the left over stuff. The price was reasonable, all dim sum is $ 3.25. Décor is fairly standard for a family owned Chinese restaurant(could use some updating). Staff was very helpful and friendly. Now that we are so far from Yangtze and Mandarin Kitchen, this will be our new spot go-to for dim sum!

Seeing their ad in the local Chinese newspaper, I decided to swing by on a Sunday for lunch with my daughter. Ambiance: The décor hasn’t changed since I first came here in the early 2000s. Its likely been like this since the ‘80s or ‘90s. Its a pretty typically outdated pink-ish décor that could stand to use some updating. The restaurant is pretty clean for the most part and generally pleasant. It does tend to be on the more crowded side, similar to Yangtze over in St. Louis Park, but not quite as tight. Service: Service for dim sum was good. «Team House» style service with the tranditional carts is always fast. The servers were polite and punctual. Special requests always take longer on weekend dim sum service, so waiting a little extra wasn’t unexpected. It was a little unusual for the servers to take so long to process our bill. We had money sitting out –waiting– to be taken, and they came and went by us multiple times to help get water, etc. for other customers. Most restaurants — especially dim places that make more profit on table turnover would jump at the opporutnity to take our money and make change, so that we could free up a table. Odd. Gratuity is included in the bill as is typical for many dim sum places in Minnesota. Food: Most importantly, the food was good, solid dim sum. The overall quality of the har gow, sui mai, har sui gawk(sp?), lo bak gao and a number of other dishes I had were very good, well prepared and tasty. Serving size of some dishes such as the BBQ pork buns were a bit on the smaller side. Nothing that was unexpected. Selection was decent, but not large by dim sum standards. Congee was avaialble, but appearantly only for table ordering, not necessarily available on carts. Overall, I’d recommend to others, especially for the convenience of those looking for dim sum in the SW Metro.

My mom and I were craving dim sum. We usually go to Mandarin Kitchen or Yangtze, but decided to give this restaurant a try. All dishes no matter what size(small, medium, large, or special) all cost $ 3.75 here so unlike other dim sum places, the total you’ll spend here ends up being much cheaper. There’s also no wait to be seated, the place was pretty empty when we got there! My all-time favorite go-to dim sum dishes are har gow and cheong fun. We came around 1:00PM and were afraid that they’d be out of most of their dim sum dishes. They were out of a few, but still had other dishes, though they weren’t very hot. I had 2 orders of har gow, one cheong fun, some tripe, various dumpling dishes, and buns. Needless to say, I was pretty disappointed. The har gow did not taste good at all. The shrimp inside was very hard and had very little flavor to it. The dumpling itself had a very thick, outer wrapping unlike other dim sum places. The cheong fun’s rice noodle was super thick and had a very thick«rice» taste. Usually at other dim sum places, the rice noodle comes much thinner. The sweet soy sauce tasted odd too. It had more of a sweet«brothy» taste than a sweet soy sauce taste. Most of the dishes had the frozen re-steamed taste to it. Also, while trying to enjoy our food, one of the waitresses was vacuuming the restaurant which made me super uncomfortable. I understand the need of maintaining the cleanliness of the restaurant, but right in the middle while people are eating? I also noticed one of the waitresses placing the utensils wrapped in a napkin on all of the tables, preparing for dinner. But she noticed something dirty on the table, used that napkin to clean the table, and then placed it back on the table for a guest to use later. She could’ve easily just thrown that napkin away. Super unsanitary and gross to see! Best thing about this place is near the end of their dim sum hours, they start offering what they have leftover for buy-one-get-one free to take home. I ordered some of their pineapple buns and those were pretty delicious(three to an order, so six total for only $ 3.75!!). Overall, nothing tasted particularly fresh or good in my opinion and I most likely will not be making the drive to return, especially if the only thing I really enjoyed was the buns.

This review is for dim sum only. We went to have dim sum around noon on Sunday(6⁄7). It was busy but no lines. Before giving details, I’ll preface by saying I grew up with dim sum, we have dim sum with family in Chinatown, New York few times a year and have had dim sum all over Asia. I get it, dim sum here cannot really be held to the expectations of dim sum out east or west(one star rating based on dim sum in Mpls) We typically go to Yangtze or MKitchen but with two little kids and long lines, we opted to try this place. Food — we will not be going back –shao mai: frozen, reheated –tripe: super cornstarchy… like you can taste the cornstarch –gai lan: steamed fine, the sauce was not oyster… was kind of gross –turnip cake: meh –fried taro and dumpling: was ok –food temperature: not hot! seriously, dim sum needs to be hot. I almost wonder if it was close to a food safety issue Service — no thanks –First highchair had no safety belt. I have subpar expectations in this category for chinese establishments but thought I would point it out. –One of the servers dropped food from her tray, picked it up and tried to reserve it!!! When my aunt called her out, she went to the kitchen but merely turned around. If you’re going to fake it, put a little more effort. Price — cheaper than Yang &MK but if the food is crappy, money not well spent. Did I get sick from the food? No But if I had to set the bar that low, it’s disturbing.

I came here for dim sum with the family and having spent a number of years away this was a weird place to see dim sum in the middle of Eden Prairie. They have some pretty standard dim sum items and some I don’t typically see anywhere else. The dim sum was of ok quality I’ve certainly had much better but it wasn’t so bad that I wouldn’t come back here. Overall it’s probably pretty good for Minnesota standards. The restaurant for dim sum does get very busy so you’re probably best to come in early around 10:00AM if you want to be seated right away. After 11⁄12 there are definitely pretty large crowds waiting for tables.

The place is actually serving Shanghai style dishes, pretty authentic. Hidden gem, real shanghai dish if not better than grand Shanghai. at least more shanghainese dishes to choose from. They also offer American chinese and a small buffet. Have a full chinese menu and I Wld suggest them to add English to it so folks who do not read Chinese can try some real good dishes.

We came here for dim sum on Easter Sunday brunch, and it was pretty decent. It’s one of the few places that allow for reservations which was the reason how we ended up here. We had chicken feet, shrimp dumplings, pan-fried chive dumplings, pan-fried turnip cakes, sesame balls, deep fried shrimp covered crab claw, pineapple buns, almond buns, siu-mai, and tripe. We were missing the shrimp noodle roll, but we had plenty to eat. Our tea did get refilled and I did get sweet and sour sauce with my crab claws. The service was pretty good and quick. If you get here later, you might have to wait a while.

This review is based on their dim sum(Sat/Sun only). There are two other dim sum locals that I frequent, both of which have been around for decades and have their own client following. New Beijing is new to the dim sum scene, which is a tough space; especially with picky clients that know what great dim sum is. We were meeting up with family, so we ordered dim sum to go. I figured ordering to go would be a painful challenging in pointing at things and asking what they had(since they recently started serving) — the great thing was they provided a to go dim sum menu, you simply mark on the sheet which items you want(and how many). #awesome We ordered up a TON of food, from shrimp dumplings, to chicken feet, to long soy noodles(with shrimp!). So here’s the deal, if you know your dim sum, you’ll easily figure out that most of what this place has to offer is frozen(then re-heated for service). Much of it is not freshly hand made(like their competition); which is an automatic no-no in my book. However, at the end of the day, it’s a great ‘dim sum fix’ if you’re in a pinch and/or live on the west side of the metro. Finally, the price, only $ 3.25 per container of any size(small, medium or large) and $ 5.95 for anything extra large; in the world of dim sum, that is an amazing price(no joke!).

After desperately searching for Chinese restaurants around the St. Louis Park area, and they were all closed on Sundays, I decided to go for New Beijing in Eden Prairie as a friend had mentioned it to me once. The dine-in experience was a very interesting one. I was there with a friend on a Sunday night. We were the only ones dining in the restaurant. There seems to be a couple of customers in and out of the restaurants for carry outs. 1. For dining in, they told us they only have a Chinese menu, which was fine since I can read Chinese, but my friend couldn’t. The dishes were hard to translate from Chinese to English. Later, we discovered that they had another take-out menu that is in English, but it seems to contain mostly Americanized Chinese food. 2. Since I could not translate a lot of the items to my friend, I opted in for the server’s recommendations. For appetizer, we had a «cold dish.» It was the lotus root vegetable stuffed with sticky rice in the holes and in a sweet, syrup-like sauce. I am not sure how I feel about this dish, but I can say that I would probably never get it again. It’s definitely not the right fit for an appetizer as I think it lowered my appetite. 3. I had Dongpo Pork as the one of the entrees. This is a traditional Chinese dish that I have been meaning to try for a while, and this was my first time trying it, so I don’t have anything else to compared it to. It is made by pan-frying and then red cooking pork belly. The pork is cut to around 2 inches square in dimensions, consisting of half fat and half lean meat. The mouth feel is oily but not greasy, with the fragrance of wine. This was probably the best dish of the ones we ordered. It was very tender, and the skin part was fatty, but I just feel like something about it was a little off. Maybe because it didn’t came out as hot as the vegetable stir-fry? 4. For the other entrée, we had the Shanghai vegetables stir-fry. While I liked the variety of vegetables that were given(black fungus, bamboo shoots, tofu skins, fried tofu, Chinese mushrooms, and etc), the sauce itself tastes like an Americanized stir-fry. It wasn’t necessarily bad, but it just threw me off for a restaurant that only had Chinese dine-in menus. 5. I didn’t really like the rice. It doesn’t taste fresh to me and had the overnight yellow appearance. The service was alright. I think they would probably give better service if your whole party was Chinese. They didn’t feel particularly friendly, or maybe because we also felt awkward being the only diners in the restaurant. I probably won’t be back anytime soon… unless if I am desperate enough for Chinese food nearby again on a Sunday, where most of the other Asian restaurants are closed near my apartment.

This review is solely based on their dim sum menu weekends and holidays. Dim Sum starts at 10. Super friendly staff. The food is fresh both times I’ve gone. Having gone to mandarin kitchen for dim sum for so long it’s nice to find another location offering extremely comparable food without the long wait. They also offer fresh made soy milk. Here’s a few items I really enjoyed. Shrimp balls Chicken feet Pineapple bun Har gow Shumai Soup dumplings Turnip cake Will be returning!

Decided to come here to try their dim sum for brunch after hearing rumors that the chef here, was from a different restaurant that I once liked. The food is sub-par. Flavors were good but I don’t think people know about this place yet for dim sum so the food was awfully cold. The servers were really nice and quick to help and I’m willing to come back once business gets a little better, otherwise I’ll have to request for food reheat each time.
