Champps Americana

Came to enjoy time with my spouse while Christmas shopping. The noise level was fine for a bar… But the volume of the hockey game was sooooo loud we could hardly hear each other or the server. Won’t be back…

It’s a sports bar, so unless you’ve just arrived from a foreign country that isn’t Canada, you likely know what you’re getting into when you go here for dinner or lunch. Food is typical fare of burgers, sandwiches, and such. The salads also looked pretty good, but when it’s subfreezing, I’d rather eat something warm.
Plenty of parking since it’s out in the ‘burbs and sort of part of a strip mall. Service was friendly and efficient. Good choice if you’re looking for something new, but not feeling SUPER adventurous. Get the waffle fries. They come with some sort of delicious dipping sauce that the regular fries don’t.

My girlfriend and I came in for Friday happy hour. Great wings, 3 dollar drinks, good service. We will be back very soon.

I wouldn’t expect much from a lousy corporate chain but I would at least expect the bartenders to acknowledge you need flatware to eat and get an order right. It was not busy and impossible to get the bartenders attention so we had to ask the host for our silverware. Order came out wrong as well but being in the business I didn’t fuss about it.

Food is decent but service is awful. Monday night, 2 female bartenders I thought it was just because I was the only female sitting at the bar but another out-​of-​towner — a male– sat next to me and had was ignored for at least 15 min like me. I get it we are not your bread and butter regulars but hopefully this will serve as a caution to people who have corporate money to spend. Go some where else.

Went there at happy hour. $ 3 beers on tap and $ 5apps. Great prices, fast and friendly service and good ambiance. The food was very good for the price. Not the best, but you can’t ask for more with those prices.

Worst service of my life!!! They 98% percent neglect anyone sitting outside. Servers are all poor and I will never return.

Greek Hummus is great selection, decent beer list to accompany.
As an out-​of-​towner, I felt the staff was quite accommodating and very friendly.
I’ll be back!

Amazing food and drink prices. There is a jazz band playing live Friday evenings which is even better

We have been here 4 times. Each at different times of day. Bar service is impeccable! Always on top of it and are looking out for the customer as far as pointing out happy hour etc. The food has always been good. And drinks and service are above par! I am so glad to have a local gem so close to home! And the patio is huge and gorgeous and fun! :)

Food was average at best. Service was EXTREMELY slow. They were not busy at all, and our order still took almost an hour. Appetizer arrived only minutes before the food.

If you’re not a regular/​local, you don’t get much attention paid to you.
Pretty sure my sirloin was fried as opposed to grilled. It was still decent but I don’t think a sirloin should be valued at $ 16; $ 12 to $ 14 tops.
Good beer selection though!

Stopped in for lunch while running errands in the area and was very impressed with how friendly the staff is at this location. I sat at a high top in the bar by myself and my server Dan was great. He allowed me to do a lunch portion salad even though the menu said it was only available weekdays. He was also very on top of things and I never sat with dirty dishes on my table — my check was picked up the minute I put my card in the check presenter. A different employee brought out my lunch and was very friendly, and a third server brought me extra dressing when I asked — and everyone was smiling and happy! The manager even stopped by to ask how everything was — sometimes I am disappointed with my service at chain restaurants but this place was great! Will be back for sure. Thanks Dan!

I’ve been to this location 6+ times. The servers are always nice. I love the atmosphere, I wish we had one where I live.
Food has always been good. Salads are HUGE. The food does take a long time to come out so not great for a quick lunch. Menu is big. Good beer selection, lots of tv’s, good happy hour.
Overall I am a fan.

On our most recent visit we noticed that they have repositioned themselves as Champps Ale House (guess everyone wants to be a brew pub now a days). On the Sunday we visited for lunch, the place was pretty quiet but hey, it’s summer in Minnesota so most everyone is up at the lake.
The menu has been streamlined and there are several new things on the list. I tried the Fajita Chicken Tacos-​3 large flour tortillas with grilled chicken, green chili salsa and a sprinkling of cheese. The came with a side of crispy chips and and small dish of salsa (I had to ask for more). They were mildly spicy and quite tasty. Something I’d definitely order again. Another in our group had the BBQ chicken salad which while still large, was also fresh and good. The other two ordered the buffalo wings (pretty spicy) but big and meaty and the chicken tenders dinner which was quite large with about 6 large breaded tenders and you can choose two sides.
The food seems to have taken a welcome step forward since we were here a month or so ago.

Last night I went to champps with 2 coworkers. We sat at the bar. There were 3 bartenders — an older gentleman with longer hair — seemed like the boss and oblivious to his surroundings, a nice young lady, and a tall African American gentleman with a scruffy beard.
To start the night, the younger guy stubbed his toe and continued to drop f bombs, at loud decibels. Repeatedly.
He kept throwing plates into the dish bucket and the noises were ear piercing… in a bad way. This was upsetting the head bartender as well, but he continued doing it.
He was talking about «deer piss» right next to us as we were trying to eat. We made a comment at this point, which he fired right back disrespectfully.
I asked for broccoli instead of fries with my entrée. I got fries.
To top off the night, he wrapped his belt around his neck and pretended to hang himself for about 3 minutes. Long enough for me to take my phone out and snap 3 pictures before the girl realized I was taking pictures. She then told him to stop. In her defense, she looked incredibly annoyed by him the entire time we were there.
This was, hands down, the worst service I have ever experienced. I will never go back to this location.

Love this place; good company, awesome bartenders! Great happy hour– Tue $ 2 local drafts, Thur $ 2 all draft all day! Typical bar food but always comes out fresh and crispy. nomnomnom

Family had lunch today at Champs. My wife has a severe gluten reaction. Waitress was smug and disinterested in making sure that food was entered and served correctly. Wife said the food tasted great, but started running for the bathroom about one hour after we ate. Really do not think it is the waitresses fault, but maybe management needs to train their staff in actually giving a shit about what may happen to gluten sensitive customers.
However, the nachos were very good.

I have been going here for years so I am dissappointed to say that my horrible lunch service last week caused me to take them off my list. Waited over an hour, not even a salad, and ulitimately had to leave without ever receiving any food at all. Never saw the manager even after asking.

Ever since Champps got bought out a few years ago this place has been cost saved into average bar, average food, average service, average chain.
As much as I like drinking next to PetSmart I think I will find a local place with average food than here.
