I took my 1 ½ year old dog here tonight because of an irritated eye. The vet and vet techs were very kind and saw him right away. They explained to me everything they were doing and why. After a few drops in his eye and a black light test, the vet was able to show me a small scratch in his eye. They sent me home with 2 kinds of drops and some information about the medication. They told me to call if I needed anything. I was in and out in about an hour.
The facility was very clean and all the staff members were very kind. I will definitely come back here again if I ever have another emergency situation with my dogs.

On a normal dog walk one day my dog started vomiting. We got him into our «usual» vet and they saw him right away. They gave him a medication to stop the vomiting but it didn’t work. They called AEVS and we were on our way there (around 4pm). By the time we arrived he was in really poor sorts. They rushed him into a room and started doing tests/​xrays right away. While we waited they gave us control of the tv near us and let us eat our Subway in the waiting room instead of next door while we waited for news. We were SO worried and they couldn’t have been any nicer or more accommodating. While prepping for surgery our Dr. laid out our options (endoscopy, surgery, or wait it out) all with projected prices. He didn’t pressure us AT ALL into making a decision. Everything turned out a-​okay and we’ve been there a few times since for various things. I’ve even called a few times with questions in the middle of the night and they’ve been so nice about answering my questions and understanding my panic!
It’s the kind of place you don’t want to EVER have to go to… but they honestly couldn’t have made the experience any better. We are so grateful to their entire staff. I also like that they print out all of the directions for medications and an itemized list for the bill.

I am now giving this place five stars but it ain’t easy to do. I am not a pleased dog owner this morning because Sparkle Princess didn’t get to come home this time. He moved out as I like to say — bought a condo in Boca Raton. They gave us a paw print we can bake in our oven and then put on the shelf or in a frame to remember him by. They also gave us some sort of a grieving pet parent discount since it was time for our puppy to retire. I think they didn’t charge the office visit fee. They even sent us a sympathy card which is very thoughtful but made us cry all over again. He was an awesome dog. Loved football and Project Runway.

I cannot recommend this facility in any way, shape or form. We brought our 12 year old dog there on the recommendation of another ER that said she would need 24 hour care after surgery. The surgery needed to happen that evening. Upon arrival the vet we saw said she was not convinced that she needed surgery and we should wait and see. This gal was very detached from the dog and talked to us like we were idiots and gave us very vague answers. Our dog has been very healthy all of her life, so to suddenly almost loose her was a shock and we needed some answers. The next morning we were assigned another vet who said our dog needed surgery or needed to be put to sleep as a tumor was found in her intestine and it was not a perforation as we initially thought. This should have been done when we brought her in the night before! We were charged $ 1,000 for them to watch her, give fluids and antibiotics for 16 hours. Diagnostic care was another $ 700. We were then given a surgery and care quote which was double of what they initially told us. They also wanted to keep the dog for 3 – 5 days after surgery. $ 6,000 to $ 9,000 was the quote. We had had it at that point and wanted our dog cared for and wanted some definite answers and not be on a roller coaster ride. We took our dog and left. She had surgery at our regular vet and came home the next day. The surgery at our vet was many thousands of dollars less than it would have been at this facility. I felt like this facility was untrustworthy in their assessment of our dog. And the vets there could not even agree on what to do. When we said we were leaving with our dog they got very irritated and seemed to only be concerned about us paying the large bill they had for us and were not concerned about our dog. We won’t be back.

My experience here was fine. Came in to visit our cat who was hospitalized here. The employees were friendly. From a brief visit I can tell they deal with some weird stuff coming through the doors. My impression was that our cat was well taken care of. No real complaints as yet.

Had to bring my sick pug there on a Friday evening, care was done quickly. They wanted to charge me $ 2000 to keep my dog overnight because she had pneumonia and she needed to be «watched». I really felted it was all about how to pump up the bill as high as possible and get owners at a very vulnerable moment! Don’t think it costs that much to go to the emergency department for humans! Took my dog home on oral antibiotics and she is doing fine

Unfortunately with all the dogs I have they have gotten really sick one time or another. I have had three dogs come here and was really impressed with the great service every time. My only gripe is that the prices are higher but worth it if you want your pet taken care of.

I am a very recent dog owner. I adopted a little dachshund, Greta, on Saturday — and unfortunately on the following Thursday evening, we got to take our first trip to Affiliated Emergency Veterinary Services.
I brought Greta in on Thursday evening. The front office staff was very attentive at checking Greta out. As soon as we were brought into an exam room the technician realized she was very ill and brought her in back immediately. She was promptly given a heated cage as well as an IV for some fluids.
Dr. Rick Yantes was very attentive and understanding with me. Considering I had NO IDEA what I was doing (I have never owned a dog before…) they were very accommodating, understanding and helpful. They kept me posted on her status during her stay. Dr. Yantes was also very sensitive to the costs of all her tests & care. He was very clear about what she needed, what he would recommend, and what was not 100% necessary.
The staff was very nice. I feel that my dog, Greta, was very well taken care of.
I did find the costs to be rather high, but it was overnight emergency pet care, so I would never expect it to be cheap. Just like the human emergency room, the doggie emergency room is more expensive. However, the high costs were definitely reflected in her quality of care as she had a dedicated nurse watching her.
I would recommend Affiliated Emergency Veterinary Services to any pet owner who finds themselves in need of emergency vet services!

I was really disappointed.
Upon walking in with my distressed dog, we had to wait to check in after employees finished what seemed like random conversations with each other without even acknowledging us. Then, we waiting about 15 minutes which seemed like a long time when you have a dog that is not feeling well and crying out loud, hyperventilating, and panicking.
The vet came in and could not find anything wrong, suggested that maybe our calm, loving senior dog that is 10 years old might have suddenly developed mental problems after coming in from outside today. We think that it was a bee sting and wanted to be sure that she wasn’t allergic. I thought that the place was lacking of anyone who was caring or compassionate. I had to pay the bill of $ 116.00 for going in and them telling me that they have no clue, maybe she’s nuts all of a sudden. I wouldn’t go back there if we got hit by a car in front of the place.

We were referred here due for an Ultra Sound. Waited over an hour to see the Doctor. Our initial consultation was done in the lobby, out in PUBLIC.
Never saw the actual Ultra Sound, wasn’t offered /​asked if we wanted to see it. Doctor visit alone cost $ 135.00!
Total waste of time and rip of money wise. If you need an Ultra Sound, push to go to the U of M Vet clinic.
