I wouldn’t call this«dining» but the food is good and the service is fast and friendly. After a long day on the slopes, you need some good old fashioned diner food to fill you up, warm you up and get you back on the lift. I had the hot dog covered with chili and fries with all the fixings and a Coors beer. It hit the spot and gave me a ton of energy to get back to the mountain. It’s busy but the food is good and the prices are fair.

Ski resort dining is unpredictable… some are just overpriced, others leave you thinking just why did you spend 20 mins in line waiting to get served! To be perfectly honest, I can deal with limited options as long as it is fast, the food done well and satisfying after a solid morning on the slopes. So with great surprise that i found Mama’s Kitchen(Sierra-at-Tahoe base lodge)… and this is the 3 reasons why I gave 4 stars; 1) They have some a-la-carte items but the 8 meal deals on offer is what did it for me. Because they’re set lunches, they’re able to process a large amount of people quickly… which means I get fed quicker, which means I am a happy skier:) The menu wasn’t shabby either… things from the tried and true ski resort food(chicken strips, hot dogs) to things more diner like(speg meatballs) 2) The BBQ pulled pork sandwich KICKEDASS! They serve it on a garlic bread with fried onions(though a little ‘slaw would have been nice). All served up with lots of fries. Perhaps I shouldn’t be surprised that their BBQ offering was good — given there is a BBQ restaurant on site. 3) Price wise the meals round out to about $ 13 for a big hot entrée, fries and a large drink… I find that acceptable(for ski resorts). A similar mean at Memphis Minnie’s SF would have cost $ 11. Accessibly good restaurant in a well priced resort. Great combo :)
