Sooooooo… We went to Shanghai about 7 years ago… Amazing amazing amazing! Then we went last Thursday… :/what happened to that place? The duck want what it once was, the mussels were meh, but the sushi was OK. The only thing I’d give an excellent rating on was the beer. Kinda sorry I spent all that money…

I went there with four friends, two of whom frequent the place. The fried rice looked pretty good, and the coconut curry shrimp looked decent also, though I ordered sushi with my boyfriend. To the server’s credit, as soon as I said I wanted the knock out roll, he basically told me «no you don’t» without being rude. I said I did want it and regretted not having read the description. This roll is NOTHING but straight wasabi, jalape~no and thai chilis. That is not a sushi roll. It’s just a wad of wasabi and peppers. Unfortunately, we ordered two of these rolls. The knock out roll should not even be on the menu. The Godzilla roll(baked), which is not even on the menu is one of the best rolls we’ve ever had. My boyfriend’s favorite ever, and we both eat sushi in a regular basis. We advised the server the knock out should come off the menu, and the Godzilla roll should go on the menu. My egg drop soup was so-so, and my boyfriend had the miso. The tiramisu looked wonderful and was generously portioned. The crème brûlée was pretty good and the cream was very welcome after swallowing sushi rolls made of nothing but wasabi and peppers — OH — and some sriracha sauce on the top. Wow. The crème brûlée helped settle our stomachs. Thank goodness! If you want sushi, by all means order the best roll — Godzilla! Just know it won’t be on the menu. This is a mystery I can’t solve.

Great food. $ 4 lunch specials are an amazing deal. Can’t go wrong with pad thai. Service is friendly, but can get slow even if it’s not busy

Ok, buckle up friends this is gonna be a bumpy ride. My two friend and I came in around 3 in the afternoon, hoping for some sushi and appetizers. Our original choice, was closed those hours to switch over to dinner menus. Tragic, I know. So we go to this restaurant, there no one in there besides a few old couples. There was no one there working with any Asain decent, which is typically a red flag. So we get both a happy hour and lunch menu. I’m moving onto the food now, because there are details I don’t want to forget. My friends spring rolls were FRIED, when they are normally crisp and fresh. Hot oil also dropped on her hands while eating them. My seaweed salad, had actual salad greens and almost no seaweed. This was the part of my meal I was looking forward to, and I am so sad that I didn’t get any seaweed. Next comes the sushi, which by appearances is just ok. My spicy tuna roll was ground raw tuna, and the California roll was just fake crab meat. My friend found a hair in her salmon roll, and found something in the spider roll that stopped her from eating it entirely. Now, we are both sushi connoisseurs and know our way around a sushi bar. This place was not only gross, but I think I may get food poisoning as well, which shouldn’t really happen to people who eat raw fish on the reg. AVOID this place at all costs. Save yourself the cheap price tag and actually go somewhere decent. Sorry for the long review but I never want to step foot in this place again.

Food quality is high. Food portion is low. Food price is very high. Fuji is a far better deal. Unless you’re going for their lunch and sushi deals around 3 o’clock. Sushi chef is a lot of fun and very educated

We love the sushi! Mexican roll highly recommended! The best crab Rangoon we have ever had. Younger waitstaff not so good but she was trying. Please, please clean the ladies room-needs a serious wipe down!

Used to love eating here. Boy have the past year changed this place. Service was TERRIBLE. She couldn’t remember our order, couldn’t remember what came with the dinner. Tokoyaki dumplings were raw. The had NO salad. You serve 2 things with dinner on your menu, salad and miso soup. No kids plates. They used to do ½ orders. No more. Sushi was not it’s normal quality. Cuts were bad, couldn’t eat the spicy tuna roll it was so salty, sashimi tuna was not sushi grade tuna but more like store bought tuna steak. Not that nice clean sushi tuna taste but fishy. The artistry of the plate was great, but that was it. My daughter had orange chicken and the tempura batter was heavy and burnt. No bright chicken or orange flavors at all. Oh not to mention our kids meals came out almost 10 minutes after ours. This was 4 pm, 3 other tables eating at that time. We used to love eating here. It was always our date spot. Well no more. So sad to see this place out done by a chain restaurant like Fuji. It used to be intimate. We used to get HamaHama oysters, which were DELICIOUS. Hate giving bad reviews, especially places I used to love. But save your $$. Our bill was $ 89 for 2 adults and 2 children, which consisted of 2 sushi dinners, crab rangoon, takoyaki($ 5 happy hr special), orange chicken, chicken & snow pea, and 4 sodas.

While looking over other reviews I was shocked to see so many over 2 stars, I wish I could say my experience there with my Family was a five but unfortunately it was a terrible one. Even first walking into the entrance it was very unpleasant there was dirt and tumbleweeds right when you walked in as if it hadn’t been touched in months. The atmosphere was very cool, in fact if I owned a restaurant, this would be my ideal atmosphere, but again the cleanliness wasn’t up to standard. The food is another topic it was bland in on the unseasoned, the chicken was chewy and fatty it was a very very unpleasant taste. I will say our server was excellent she was very nice and the food came out in a timely matter, but to say the least we will not be going here again.

I only could give a 1 star there’s no lesser choice. Service was ok but the food was horrible! The California roll had to be pre made, the tuna roll was fishy and the Cashew Chicken dish was slop! Diced and shredded chicken about 4 cubes and the cashews were stale. The sauce it was served in was a molasses blend! If your in Eau Claire skip it ! Sorry

The food, atmosphere and service was excellent. Sesame chicken with hot and sour soup, so good and reasonable prices.

The night we came it was fairly busy, but that should be no excuse for how horrible the customer service was. We waited 20 minutes for a server, 10 minutes for our waters and we waited literally 45 minutes for the main entrée and we did not get our appetizers until after the entrée. The waitress never came and checked on us to see how we were doing other then to bring out drinks. Several times I witnessed the manager walk past our table and not once did they notice that our table was unattended for such a long period of time. It was also very cold in the building as well and the food was not worth the wait. I feel as if I was ripped off and that they don’t seem to care about their customers. I still tipped them with gratitude, but I was very disappointed.

Enjoyed a wonderful Valentine’s Day sushi night with my Rico Suave aka Ric Gannon. Jeremy Lawler is awesome with his creativity, especially when you sit at the sushi bar. Ask for the Lori Bishop special that I called Lady in Red… It was amazing. Thank you Jeremy for making our Valentine’s night very special, you are an awesome sushi chef!

Just finished eating here with my husband. It was pretty slow but it was 2pm. We ordered spring rolls and egg rolls and found that there wasn’t any meat. it was basically just cabbage filled, but they were good regardless. I ordered beef with scallops combo and was pleasantly surprised. There’s a Different flavor than what’s around Eau Claire in their sauces. I just can’t figure out what it is. My husband ordered the strange chicken combo, he said it wasn’t really spicy but we’re both pretty comfortable with spicy food. But he said it was good. Our server was nice and patient even though our daughter was fussy. We will be going back :)

Went out for date night on a somewhat busy Saturday night to simply order some miso soup and 2 basic rolls to share. Waited 20 mins for the soup and an additional hour for the rolls even after large groups left. Terrible and slow service for basic necessities at this type of establishment. Would recommend HuHot instead.

I went to Shanghai Bistro for drinks and appetizers with a group of friends after an event. We arrived around 8:30 and had some good food and drinks, but we were alerted by our server that it was not a «tavern» and that the bar and restaurant would be closing at ten(in spite of it being a Saturday night and no closing time listed online or at the actual place). Our food took forever and then they shut the lights off on us around 9:45 so we left our drinks and apps unfinished, paid, and left. Seemed like a nice place but I doubt I’ll go back.

Nice ambiance with live jazz & candles all over. Solid menu but the service was a little slow although we were in at a peak time. Cool speciality drink menu with lots of choices! The best Japanese & Chinese food in Eau Claire by far. Comfy booth with a swarthy atmosphere. I recommend!

Finally found a great Japanese(and other Asian) restaurant in the Chippewa Valley. Decent prices and everything tasted fresh and well made. Non-greasy veggie fried rice, simple yet well rolled sushi, and fairly good sesame chicken. We have frequented EC for 3 years and just now found where it was, tucked away amongst the gas stations and hotels. Will be returning for sure!

Not good. Pass on the walleye tempura. I had the beef with veggie stir fry and the flies wouldn’t even bother to eat it on the parking lot frontage patio.
