I visited Eau Claire on business and wanted to buy some good local cheese. Well I was so happy to find variety of them here. I got cranberry cheese, blueberry cheese, chocolate fudge cheese, and good ol wisconsin swiss cheese. Hmm can’t wait to taste them at home!

Stopped on our way home from the Dells. The cheeses are fantastic, lots of samples for the kids to try. Great ice cream to grab on the way out. Kids cones are only $ 1. We’ll be making it a regular stop on our WI trips.

It was such a delight to find that this store also served delicious sandwiches — I have couple of favorites — Hot Hero and Hot Eddie, the cheese tastes so fresh and tasty. One time I ventured for Rueben which I didn’t care for. I would definitely recommend it!

Great selection of made-to-order deli sandwiches. Hot and cold. I personally love the ‘town of Nelson’ sandwich. Good variety of cheese, a few other snacks too like salsa, tea, dipping sauces etc. Also one of the few places in Eau Claire you can get a hand dipped ice cream cone!!! Staff is friendly. Convenient location.

I used to go to Nelson’s often for their cheese and sandwiches when I lived in Eau Claire. Now that I live out of state, I usually stop here when I’m visiting so I can bring some cheese back with me. After a couple of recent bad experiences, though, I’m not sure I’ll be back. Last Christmas I ordered a gift basket from the Eau Claire Nelson’s for my boyfriend’s family. I placed the order over two weeks ahead of when it needed to be shipped, and since there was a limited window of time that my boyfriend’s family would be together for the holiday, I asked Nelson’s for a specific ship date. The basket didn’t arrive when I expected it to, so I called Nelson’s after the holiday to find out when they shipped it(I believe this was 4 – 5 days after the order was supposed to be shipped). After half a day of searching for my order, they called back to say they found it — with a note about the date it was supposed to be shipped — but it hadn’t been shipped yet. I was so upset — at that point, it was too late to ship to them in time. I canceled the order and scrambled to find late Christmas gifts, which at that point had to be shipped to various places in the country to my boyfriend’s family members. A basket from Nelson’s was supposed to be the easy solution. I figured their delivery options were unreliable, but at least the store is still decent, right? I stopped in yesterday on my way out of town and picked up a few things, including some farmer’s cheese. When I got home I realized the back of it was full of mold. I threw it away. I guess cheese at Nelson’s is less fresh than the grocery store, so I’ll stick to grocery stores from now on.

Great selection of interesting food, bit pricy. The take-out sandwiches are fantastic. Also, tasty ice cream. Drive past all those chains and pop in here for something different once in a while.

I’m not a cheese lover but the sweets here are pretty delish! I love their ice cream and caramels, they are to die for :)

Great stop on a road trip up north. Tried the old fashioned sandwich and loved it. Picked up a wedge of chipotle gouda cheese that was pretty tasty too.

A great stop in Eau Claire for gifts or goodies to take back to wherever you came from! Whenever I visit family in town, I always stop at Nelson’s. They have yummy goodies out to sample that convince you to buy curds, summer sausage, everything! I went home with a bag f plain cheese curds, jalapeño summer sausage and cheddar /salami cheese on my last trip. All are great, but the cheddar with salami is a little… weird. Good, but just doesn’t taste amazing. Definitely worth a stop. If it hadn’t been winter, I would have tried out their ice cream too!

If you’re in Eau Claire, this is a don’t-miss kind’ve place. If you’re looking for fresh Wisconsin cheese, skip the grocery stores and come here. They’ve got all kinds of cheeses with samples available. I recommend getting the curds — regular or garlic. They also have a deli with great sandwiches and frozen custard. Very surprising for such a small building.

The store if an outlet of the Nelson Cheese Factory located about an hour away in the town of Nelson, WI. It’s a small shop with a small parking lot, but the selection of cheese inside is one of the biggest one will find in Eau Claire. Just about all of it is made by Nelson, but I think I saw some rarer types that were made by a third, but I may have been mistaken. In addition to cheeses, they also have deli meats and make hot and cold sandwiches to order. They also offer party trays and have gift boxes for sale(of which I ordered some this Christmas). In the winter they have soups and also have ice cream for sale all year around. It’s a nice locally operated business that I find myself going to pretty often for their high quality selection of meats and cheeses. It seems pretty popular because the place is busy daily around noon and after 5PM.
