The Lodge on Orcas Island

We found this wonderful place after hours of futile search of overpriced traditional B&Bs and resorts and weren’t a single bit sorry after the whole experience. David’s place defies traditional classifications of the lodging — it was homey, comfortable and had just the right mix of privacy and open space for everyone to mingle, share stories and experiences. That was truly a lucky choice and we enjoyed the stay wholeheartedly

A friend and I did an off-​season weekend trip to Orcas Island, and I’m so glad we happened to find this place!
First off, the house is absolutely gorgeous. David (the owner) furnished and renovated it himself and it was obviously done with love. Everything from the furniture to the light fixtures and towels is inspired and beautiful.
Dave was fantastic and very accommodating. It turned out we were the only guests in the house that night (this was mid-​December) so even though I had booked a cheaper room with twin beds, he let us stay in the ‘executive suite’! It was far and away the nicest place I’ve ever been lucky enough to stay at (and the shower there IS AWESOME). Plus, when we asked for tips on where to go and what to eat, he went out of his way to give us recommendations.
I have to say it was really cozy this time of year, especially with the wood burning stove David had going. The rates are very reasonable here and it couldn’t be comfier. I’ll definitely come back here when I return to Orcas Island and I’d recommend it to anyone who’s thinking of going!

Delightful place to stay; I would love to come back. Just a couple minutes from «downtown» Eastsound. Beautiful grounds with hammocks, tables, and shade for lounging outside all day. Proprietor is warm and full of personality; you’ll feel like you’re staying with a real human being, not at a faceless chain hotel. When we were there (August) there were fresh figs (from on-​site trees) available every day.
FYI not all rooms have en suite (private) bathrooms, so at rush hour you may have to wait a bit for a toilet or shower.
