Over-priced Mediocre Food and Lousy Service We went to Maxim’s 22 for my husband’s birthday last Saturday night and was very disappointed. It was the worst service! We waited 45 minutes for a basket of bread, over an hour for our appetizers. Then each of us got our appetizers at different times, eating separately and one missed completely. But our waitress didn’t come back, for us to ask about the missing salad. No pepper on the table and I had to get up and go to the waitress station to search for it, again no assistance. Piles of empty drink glasses and dirty dishes cluttered the table all night. Entrees came, the lamb chops were undercooked and the burger overdone and dry, but our waitress was nowhere to be found. Their menu says: «Suggested gratuity of 20% may be added to parties of 6 or more» We were a party of 6, and when we received our $ 400 bill with a tip of $ 80 automatically added, I asked to see a manager. Like our waitress, there was no manager at the restaurant. «Suggested» means recommended or proposed. This waitress did not deserve 20%, but forced to pay the gratuity, although I did Not recommend it, or «suggest» it. So, I strongly«suggest» that you stay clear of Maxim’s 22

We absolutely loved Maxims. We were so happy to try this place after hearing nothing but good things for a very long time. We were here for lunch on a Saturday and it was decently busy. They have a diverse menu that is reasonable for the unique offerings. I had the special for the day, which was a lobster sandwich. SOYUM! But what gives them the fifth star for me is that the restaurant is sophisticated, but family friendly. They have a children’s menu, books and coloring available. Even better they don’t cheapen their food for kids — they even have oysters available for them, Server was great, friendly, attentive and knew the menu well. We live in Bethlehem, but will make the effort to come back!

We stopped here after the Nutcracker at the State Theater. We managed to get in and get a table right away. The Filet was awesome and we also ordered the Parisian. It was delicious. Ryan was our waiter and was excellent as well. We’re coming back!

Living in historic Bethlehem we don’t often get in the car to grab dinner but we’ll be making an exception for this place. Four of us just returned from a delightful experience. Four different dishes, two beef and two seafood were excellent. Oysters were fresh and delicious. Escargot were also a treat. Even my friend’s Cesar salad was not ordinary as it came with anchovies(on request) as it should. Only one dessert was ordered, carrot cake, and those who tried it loved it. 22 beers on tap and decent selection of wine complement the meal nicely. We also had great service from Ryan and a nice compliment of attentive staff. The only miscue, which is not unusual nowadays, is that the food arrives by a different server who must ask the table who has what. I should also add that the place has a French look from the early 20th century. Lots of detail in the ceilings and fixtures so be sure to look around. A great find and we’ll be back.

We made an 11:30 reservation for Sunday brunch, but had to wait for 10 minutes upon arrival for our table, despite a few obviously empty tables on the floor. Not an auspicious start. The French press coffee was mediocre, with an oily oxidized flavor, dirty lid, and dirty coffee cups. The staff was clearly overwhelmed, as it took them 30 minutes to even pour us water, and over an hour from arrival to get our food. Our waitress was clearly avoiding us as she was embarrassed by the delay. That being said, the bread and starter salads were good, with a nice house mustard vinaigrette. I ordered salmon eggs Benedict for my main course. Salty salmon, burnt English muffin, but the eggs and sauce were quite good. Not coming back.

Loved it! Started off with the duck confit appetizer and a flight of craft beers. Moved on to my entrée, which was the poached egg confit with potatoes. My husband had the pork shank with Brussels and mashed potatoes. The food was amazing, so we decided we couldn’t miss the dessert. We had the Bön bon and crème brûlée, with French press coffee. There is a great selection of craft beer. The only thing that I felt could have been different was the beer flight. You have to choose a beer type, and then the bartender picks 5 for your flight. We picked a stout flight. The bartender did do a very good job of picking beers and explaining, but 3 of the 5 we previously have had. That would not have been an issue if I was allowed to pick my own. We order flights to sample beers we have not had before, so it was a bit pointless. To be fair, we have sampled hundreds of beers and regularly visit breweries, so we may be hard to please in that department. Probably not a problem to the average customer. No big deal though. Service was great and I enjoyed every bit of this meal.

Atmosphere is really nice. Servers are good. But the food wasn’t that great. Swordfish was overcooked and dry. It was burnt on one side. Mixed green salad was way too salty. Almost inedible. Clams were really good. Breads are crunchy and fresh, served with good butter.

This magical stop in Easton PA remains a top the list of places I have gorged myself because the food was so good I could not stop eating. We ate foie gras with our cherry jubilee brioche french toast for an appetizer, followed by a sautéed fig and cherry salad with warm goat cheese. Then the main event was a 32 oz. Bone in dry aged ribeye that we ordered medium,(perfectly cooked by the way) accompanied by mashed potatoes, Brussel sprouts, sautéed wild mushroom and topped with more foie gras. I said a year ago that this was the best meal of my life the first time we came here, but tonight the number 1 spot is being contended by the same chefs of this magical french steakhouse in Easton PA. I highly recommend anyone that can appreciate craft cocktails, genuinely good service and excellent cuisine to stop and spend a couple hours enjoying what life’s truly about… good times, good food and great company to enjoy it with. Thank you for the best experience with food to date and my wife for letting me put the last few bites in my pie hole. Love this place!!!

Sorry, but not so good. I love bistro and have visited many in NYC, France and in French islands but this place is a poor example of what the others strive for. Service, ZERO. Food, GOOD. That means a step above fair. The French take pride in their service and food but our waiter was murdering the meaning of a French Waiter. More specifically, the waiter served the muscles with out a seafood fork, I had to ask for bread. When I bought the beer sampler it was warm and unexplained. When I asked the waiter he did not know the beers and stated that a stout was a Sumner ale. Now the food. Go next door to cheeseburger its better. The civiche was nuclear. Its stated sarrano pepper was added on the menu but it was so overpowering and over temperature that I could not taste anything else. Burning my mouth more pepper and raw onion than fish. The onion was not allowed to cook in the lime juice so it remained in its uncook state overpowering everything and most certainly the fish. Aftertaste for hours. The $ 22 slice of Foie Gras was a ridiculous insult. It was sliced horizontally in an attempt to get two servings out of one liver resulting in a dried piece of garbage. The frog legs were good but the sauce was pure grease causing the breading to be soggy grease sponges. Coffee. Was quite good however it was lacking a French press. If you present yourself as the Bistro extraordinaire in towne a little touch like that would help. However, from the experience of the waiter I have drawn the conclusion that they would not even know what a French press is or how to operate it. Bread. Absolutely delicious nut raisin bread terrific as for the rest in the basket. However, it took three requests to get the basket. Then I asked a waiter a busboy and the hostess for oil for the bread. The hostess was the best server of all and came back with some olive oil in a little stainless steel container used for the coffee cream. The table sitting next to me send food back 2 times. I told the waiter to box up two small items for me. He did that real well and quick however I had to ask him for a bag to carry it out in. After spending $ 130 I do not come back to places like that. Come on boys and girls get with the French program. I saw the ratings that were pretty good for this place but as more experienced connoisseur like myself I could see the many weaknesses in the food and ultimately the poor service. The menu has a superb selection all the great French goodies but they are not prepared well and served terribly. Another note. I ordered 3 appetizers and asked the waiter to start with the ceviche first. He brought them all out at the same time stacking the plates alongside of me. One other review also mention this terrible method of service. I told him the other food will get cold while I’m eating the ceviche. He had no response. For $ 130 I could got double the food and a hundred times the waiter service in my usual New York haunts.

In a town full of great restaurants, Maxim’s is my fave. We love to grab a meal at the bar or on the patio(dog-friendly btw). And if we opt for a table inside, we don’t have to worry about getting a «bad» table — like in some back room or by the restrooms. The drinks are well-crafted and the wine and draft beer options are abundant. The food is nothing to be intimidated by – something we sense from Americans encountering French-described cuisine. You can get an amazing burger and fries, a Kobe beef hot dog, or unique«mac & cheese» pasta dishes. Traditional French fare includes a perfect steak frites, escargot, steak tartare, duck confit, and on and on. On top of it all, the staff is the most professional in Easton, and the owner bends over backwards to make his guests happy. Highly recommended before a show at the State Theatre. Great Sunday brunch too.

Been here once before for some apps and drinks at the bar and it was pretty good, so we decided to stop in again for a bit to eat before the late performance of Ron White at the State Theater. My gal and I sat at the bar again and they nailed it again! We both started with salads(which we could have shared one), I had the Mac & Cheese with bacon and black truffles(AWESOME) and she had the mussels French style(AWESOMETOO). Seeing as I just returned from Bruxelles and France on business, I can say the only thing different here is no one is speaking French. Can’t wait to come back and have one of their steaks!!!

I have been to Maxim’s several times now, and the food and service have been excellent each time. I absolutely love the décor. Another thing that I love about this place is that I can buy a $ 30+ meal if I want to, or I can stop in for an incredible burger. Their fries are the best in the area, and they can be ordered as an appetizer. Try them. Burgers were juicy and cooked perfectly every time. The cassoulet is hearty on a cold day. Oysters were fresh, and delicious. The cheese plate was very nice and worth ordering either before or after the meal. Look inside the bread basket for the lavender bread. it’s lovely. This is a cool place that I plan to visit with friends.

Friends and I stopped in for brunch, only to discover it was only on Sundays. I was really disappointed that they put their brunch menu on the standard menu. It basically says, «See all this great stuff you could have had?». Taking the time to have a special brunch menu would be a nice touch. Parking, you can park in the garage near the Crayola experience and use the cut through(it’s like a little alley), will save you a few steps! Our waiter was great, prompt, kept everything full. My only real gripe was that I was hoping for a crêpe. You know, it’s French, it’s sort of quintessential French! They did offer it for Brunch… ANYway. We decided on a pair of appetizers. The Salmon tar tar was good, but just a touch warmer than I’d like, I really liked that they served it with crisps. Made for easy scooping. The Brie was good, it didn’t ooze out in a hot mess when cut into it, but it also wasn’t very packed with cheese either. For our meal, I went with a great tarragon chicken salad on croissant. The bread was all flakey goodness, I definitely recommend it. Overall, a good experience, I’m a fan, and look forward to trying them for brunch the next time I’m in town.

First time dining here. Great location and is a top end dinner. To be honest I am more of a steak guy and this was fancy. However very good. Overall the service was great. For appetizer had French onion soup and she had the scallops. The soup was good but not the best. Had different cheeses. Her scallops came on a large scallop shell and was hidden below a topping, they were excellent. Salads were very good. For dinner she had the cod with pork and a quail egg. It was a special. Very tasty and cleared the plate. I had the rib special, not plentiful but very tasty Overall very good experience. Beware the tables are very small. If you need to spread ask for a larger table

Very pleasant brunch spot in downtown Easton. The space definitely gives off that Euro feel– large and airy, wood floors(tiled around the bar), filled with light, spacious bar with ample options. We were seated near the front. The brunch menu consists of some very delicious sounding items– crepes, quiche, benedicts, omelettes and the like. I ultimately ended up choosing one of their features — the lamb benedict. Two perfectly toasted English muffins with tender(leg?) of lamb slices topped with beautifully poached eggs and hollandaise. Loved every bite. Service was attentive without being obtrusive. Water glass rarely ran dry. Same with my coffee cup. A great new addition to the Easton dining scene. Maybe I should come visit home more often?
