We recently dropped in at Awentree and have to say that we enjoyed our time in the store. When we walked into this little shop in Easthampton we were warmly greeted by the person behind the counter. The shop had some really great items ranging from incense to wands. This store also provided services such as Reiki and readings. The only critique is that they have a well organized store but it would be nice if they had some more items. That being said, it is a great store with a great vibe.

Awentree is a well-stocked, versatile magic store whose primary emphasis is on the positive, healing, and personally empowering aspects of magic. It is an incredibly welcoming place(it was one of the first places I visited upon moving to the Pioneer Valley) that supplies most of your magical needs(the standards as well as hand-made magical crafts by local craftspeople), staffs gifted readers, and features regular workshops by local teachers and also authors and teachers of national renown. There is an implicit invitation to community and to learning, and a personal, friendly aspect to the service without it ever feeling solicitous. More than just cruising through, you might find yourself hanging out a while to ask questions of a magical nature! And might I emphasize(risking finding a dead critter nailed to my door), that the staff of the Salem magic shops would do well to learn from Awentree’s general store attitude of being encouraging and *helpful*. If you want to have a store that supports your magic in a friendly way, visit Awentree!

Our family decided to take a trip to Northampton for the day and stop by Awentree on the way. The store looked interesting on the website, although I could do without the hippie dippy world music that auto plays. But since I’m always looking to support independent businesses especially those of the Pagan variety, I decided to give it a go. I was looking for some Jewelry and was hoping to find something interesting and unique there. The store itself is small and has a limited inventory but is nicely arranged. They only had a few pieces of jewelry but they were overly expensive, for average quality pieces that you could get from other places much cheaper.(Note: Any store that calls itself a Shoppe, will always be too expensive, you pay for the extra pe) They did have some gorgeous artwork though and I seriously considered buying something until… I realized that one of the employees there was following me all around the shop, virtually hanging over my shoulder all the time. At first I thought that perhaps he was trying to be helpful but it felt more like he was worried that I would steal something. My husband and son felt the same way. I’m sorry, but the store was very tiny and the 2 people behind the counter certainly could have kept an eye on things without a 3rd working security. This type of store should be mellow and peaceful and make one feel comfortable not like they are being profiled as a potential thief andI honestly could not wait to get out of there. Due to feeling so unwelcome I will not return and will let the Pagan community know of the experience I had there.
