Incredible, local restaurant a stone’s throw from Bird Park(my favorite place!). This restaurant serves as the only restaurant that is in East Walpole and NOT a chain on busy Route 1(sometimes, its more fun to stay local, rather than going out to the busy, annoying highway!). Stopped in last night for dinner and had a great experience. I feel that we need more places like this in the area. Local, old, and lots of townies in(from the Walpole-Norwood area), sort of like the Colonial Restaurant on Savin Ave in Norwood, which is also amazing. Anyway, for here. I came in and was greeted by an older gentleman, who was very friendly and said there would be a 4 minute wait, which I, and the rest of my party was fine with waiting, as before this I was hoping to go to BBC on Route 1, which had a 20 minute wait, as well as Chili’s across the street! Yet, as I said, sometimes a good idea to stay local, and have a better experience(and faster!). So I’m happy I ended up here. So I got seated and was in love with the atmosphere. I have been here before, yet not in the last 5 – 10 years, and it has definitely stayed the same, or gotten better. The waitress came over, who was fine, yet not my speed. She wasn’t too friendly, energetic, or seeming in a great mood. She did make sure my table got everything we needed, and made sure all of our meals were correct, which was helpful. She also came over often to check on how everything was going, which was helpful. For the food, I ordered a burger, which was very good and HUGE. Almost, couldn’t finish the full burger and had no room following. Very good to be full in comparison to other places were I go home feeling still hungry! Definitely will be back and am so happy they are still going strong and are SO nearby to my house(only 10 minutes!), as well as right by Bird Park, where I go at least once a week. 5 stars.

Love this little gem. People always laugh when they ask me where I’m going and I recite and address. But I always suggest people check it our, haven’t heard a complaint yet! Always have great specials and love the weekly special nights, like Ladies night and also of course the free birthday dinner with valid ID! Check this little place out, you won’t be disappointed!

The food is mediocre at best so paying $ 16.95 for chicken marsala was like getting kicked in the clam. Salad tasted dirty, chicken was rubbery and in a shape I’ve never saw chicken in and kids burger, ehh. The last time I was there I said it would be the last time but this time I’m done.

I very rarely will write a review, especially a bad one, but I felt the need to make mention of our dining experience here last evening. While I can appreciate the small town ambiance, vinyl booths and wood paneling are everywhere, it was like walking into a cave. My husband and I(who are in our 40s) were the youngest patrons here by at least a decade, maybe two. The staff were all very polite and I can appreciate how difficult it is to keep a restaurant afloat for so many years. That being said, the food was mediocre at best. After spending 10 minutes looking over the one page menu, trying desperately to find something that even sounded appetizing, we were tempted to just get up and leave. But we said, hey let’s give it a shot, lots of people on Unilocal had great things to say. Maybe it’s a diamond in the rough. My husband ordered the Caesar Melt and I had the Lite Lime Chicken. The salad that came with my entrée was supposed to have balsamic vinaigrette, what came was a plastic cup full of straight balsamic vinegar. The Caesar Melt was mostly a giant roll but the fries were at least well cooked. My chicken and rice was straight out of a geriatric dieting guideline. No flavor, no salt, bland and very disappointing. The only redeeming factor is it was screaming hot temperature wise, so at least we knew it was fresh. So fair warning to any future diners, if you are looking for a quiet little haunt with run of the mill food, this might be for you. Others, you’d be best looking elsewhere.

This place is what restaurants should strive to be!!! No signs, no billboards, no commercials… Just a place that’s been doing it right for years. You won’t find Sriracha this or wasabi that on the menu but that’s a good thing at this place. Let’s start with the salad… Get the poppy seed dressing and the creamy Italian(both house made and I believe for sale in bottles) and mix them together. Hands down THEBEST salad dressing ever. The entrees are always a great portion and always delicious. The prime rib on the weekend is by far the best around! Service is great, semi formal, classic and spot on. Drinks come in old fashioned goblets and are well poured. I love places that know what they are good at and do it great!

My wife and I have been going to the 204 every Tuesday for years. Love the staff and the food is excellent. Oh yeah! And every Tuesday is ladies night. With two meals ordered hers is ½ price. Love the place.

If I lived in this part of the state, if I were single, and if I didn’t care about my blood pressure or my weight, I think I’d eat here twice or three times a week. If I were a bar guy, I think I’d stop in for a cold one four or five times a week. Let me tell you why. It’s inviting — in a way that a neighborhood bowling alley is inviting. The place looks from the outside well used and appreciated. There’s nothing modern, chain-restaurant, or insincere about the exterior. You go inside and see people at the bar whom you know have been coming here for over a decade. I think it’s something about the low light, the televisions, and brown wood. It looks homey. If it were a motel I’d expect two signs on the lawn: «We take BankAmericard» and«Color Television». The prices are reasonable. There’s no pretense to it. The servers are professionals from the areas who have been doing this work for many, many years, and who appear to enjoy it. Our waitress was excellent and had been there for 12 years. The food is damn tasty. I had a veal parm with ziti and a salad. My wife had haddock. We both were well satisfied. Yeah, the sauces were a bit salty. But hey, it’s a restaurant not my own kitchen. Yeah the bread looked fairly standard. But hey, it was still airy and fresh and with a crisp crust. With a steady diet of this stuff I might die a few years younger — but Hell, I’d die with a big grin on my face.

The updated granite bar and wine racks are attractive — new colors are warm and inviting. Very comfortable atmosphere. Fresh food(steaks, seafood, Italian, daily specials). Family owned and operated — they care about their product and it shows. If you don’t see it on the menu or special board — just ask(very accommodating). Servers are well trained and attentive.

Should be renamed 204 Salt Street. Mind you, I have dead taste buds and typically salt the shit out of everything. Any flavor the prime rib may have had was drowned out by the salt. Cooked perfectly, but my mouth literally burned from the overstimulation. I really do wish I could rate this place highly — service was perfect: attentive, direct, and not overbearing — but let’s face it, the food is what you go back to a restaurant for. Broccoli was the highlight of my meal, which is sad to say. Unnecessarily drowned in butter but nice and tender. Salad had some brown lettuce; definitely not feelin’ that. –5000 stars for not having ranch dressing. What. Lots of townies, older crowd. Actually a pretty relaxing atmosphere. Yes, they are stuck in a bit of a time warp — dated menu design, dated décor — but this is not necessarily a bad thing.(I’m 27 going on 70.) I am willing to believe that other entrees are better than the prime rib, but the menu isn’t unique enough for me to give it another shot. Wish I had the ability to make myself throw up so I could eat something better and feel satisfied… :\

The food is good, the service is good. Seems like a place for the older crowd. Entrees reasonably priced. BUTTHEMENUNEVERCHANGES! I have been here several times and it is boring. Go once or twice then don’t come back for a year and the menu will be the same. Parking is terrible.

This place is stuck in a time warp, Old Bar, Dirty old rugs, but serves some pretty good food for the money. Nothing fancy, good seafood, steaks, chicken parm, and good specials. Whiskey pour is a very good heavy pour, one of the best pours in the area, if not so heavy it would be a 3.5*. Oh don’t forget the new dining room was built in 1986

Excellent. My favorite restaurant in Walpole. It has a local, «townie» type of feel to it, very cozy atmosphere. Staff is excellent. This is not the type of restaurant where they try to push you out the door. Entrees are never brought out until you finish your app or soup/salad. Food is great! My favorite dish is the Scallops Nantucket. This place also has excellent early bird specials at a great price. Tuesdays are also Ladies Night — buy one entrée, get the second half off. Prices in general here are very reasonable. Oh yeah!!! And they also have this amazing house dressing — it’s a sweet and sour poppyseed. delish! You can even buy a bottle of the dressing too!

Great local restaurant– menu has all of your everyday favorites(some shining stars are the Chicken Parmesan, Steak Tips, Broiled Scrod, and of course their famous Buffalo Chicken Tenders) and the specials menu is stellar(Grilled Santa Fe, Grilled Basil Swordfish, Scallops Mac & Cheese). Make sure to try the House dressing on your salad(Sweet and Sour Poppyseed). Ask your server for recommendations and don’t be afraid to ask for any special requests. Tuesday is ladies night– buy one entrée get a ladies at half price!

204 Washington is a comfortable, reasonably priced, homestyle restaurant that is good for families. The seafood was exceptional — great broiled scallops, seafood casserole, chowder, etc. They also had an array of fairly typical Italian dishes with veal and chicken as well as some broiled steaks and salads. The service was above average — very attentive, knowledgeable and accommodating. Picky kids would have little trouble finding something they would like. And, if you can prove it’s your birthday, you get a free entrée!
