Rest n’ Nest Campground

This is the WORST campground we’ve ever stayed at. The owners try to keep it nice, but their personalities and lack of social skills are unbelievable. They do not know how to deal with people in a mature, professional fashion. They yell and are downright rude. They do not appreciate their seasonals. We had been warned the first weekend we arrived as seasonals about how rude and mean they were. We said we would just keep to ourselves, mind our own business and follow the rules. We did this and missed out on some friendships early on b/​c we thought it was better to stay away. There are some lovely campers there. Unfortunately, someone «brought it to their attention» about a negative review about the campground. They ASSumed it was either myself or my daughter. We had no problem with them until this. We had to live there until we found a house and could move in. Who in their right mind would write a negative review when you HAD to stay some place and could not get a refund!!! We wouldn’t and prior to being falsely accused and treated differently, we had no interest in doing so. Now I will explain more. There is so much pine pitch there it is all over everything, unless you’re fortunate to get in one of the few sites protected from nasty pine trees. At times, the soles of your shoes are a layer of pitch. The free wifi is horrible. We had to run a private line so we could search for homes and pay bills. They are rude to guests and charge you for them every chance they get. They ride Harley’s (which is fine), but they cater to ther Harley friends. There is no cable tv (we didn’t mind as we are not huge tv people). The pond stinks and looks nasty. The pool has little area to sit around. We were falsely accused of not picking up after our dog. We always had baggies and did so. We and other seasonals witnessed a «favorite» seasonal letting their dog relieve in the field without cleaning up several times. If you want friendly, happy campground owners to deal with, I’d suggest staying clear of rest n nasty. It’s not nasty b/​c they don’t clean, it’s nasty from their poor, poor people skills. We have always had great experiences camping until this place. If we were the only ones with a negative experience, I would think we did something. Unfortunately, their terrible treatment to others was not limited to us. When I tried to show the owner the person who wrote the review was in MA at a campground the same time we were at theirs, he would not even listen. WE WOULD NEVER RETURN TO SUCH A NEGATIVE AND NASTY ENVIRONMENT.

Some things are terrific… others not so much. Thus the 3 star rating.
Pros: facilities are very clean and we’ll kept. Campground is nice, good spacious tent sites. Friendly staff most of the time. Very reasonable rates and good location. Pond slide is super fun!
Cons: rules are very very strictly enforced. If you plan on being in bed every night by quiet hours, and make sure to follow the strict parking regulations, you will be fine. If you plan on having visitors, staying up past 11 and talking in anymore than a very quite whisper, prepare to be aggressively yelled at. The way they enforce the rules is quite threatening and made everyone in our party extremely uncomfortable. Tent sites are kind of far from bathrooms… bring comfy shoes!

Hope it wasn’t a hot day when you cycled to the campground, Niles,… the fee you would have paid for, was for you to have a day pass to Rest n Nest… it wasn’t for you’re car

After reading 2 of the 3 reviews I wondered what drugs Allison was on. Most campgrounds do require u you to camp, duh. And whose fault was the weather when u r staying the last night of the season. Of course there was nothing to do. It was the last day of the season!!! Her review was scarier than her experience.
Then there was the guy that had a problem with the day fee. We have travelled and camped from Key West to Alaska in private, state, provincial and national parks. They all require day or guest fees. After all the guest will have access to all amenities.
Now as seasoned campers we found Rest N Nest to be a great campground. Clean showers and laundry. Pool and swimming pond with slide. Playground. And the hosts were beyond helpful. They were friendly and available. The rules were enforced which made for a relaxed and pleasant stay. At the time of this review we have been here a month and will stay the rest of the summer here as we explore the area.

Great place, been camping there for 30 years. The flood was the best thing to ever happen to them. A little pricey but the location is great.

I’m sure it’s a great place to camp, but I find it’s ridiculous you’re forced to pay to register your car when you’re just visiting someone there.
What I did was park my car at the Park-​and-​Ride off of I91 and ride my bike from there and skip the parking fee.

Perhaps Rest n Nest is a great campground. I wouldn’t really know. I camped there on the VERY last night that camping was allowed before winter in a 3 season tent (can you guess which season this tent is inappropriate for?). their website boasts lots of nice things to do. If they were there I didnt see them.
The main trouble with Rest n’ Nest is that it requires you to camp, and camping is scary and cold. I didn;t know whether death would come by the hands of a chainsaw-​wielding local maniac or the cold.
The other trouble with this place is that you are directly off the highway. I mean literally, even though you are in the woods, in the middle of the night you cna hear cars pulling off onto the shoulder just feet from your head, and thats when the maniacs seemed like they were gonna win out over the cold.
