My wife and I have been looking forward to trying J C wine cellar. So for New Year’s Eve we went. Worst meal of2015 !!! 7:30 reservations got seated at7:30 but didn’t see a server until 8:05 didn’t even introduced herself or say hello took our order. Asked my wife if she wanted more wine and she said yes it took fifteen minutes to get it In the meantime she comes out to let me know they ran out of steaks. Got crab cakes instead mediocre at best, cold vegetables and au gratin potatoes out of a box or at least that’s what they tasted like. I told the person in charge but didn’t seem to concerned. Won’t be back!!!

Excellent service, delicious food, great ambiance. This place was certainly a surprise, and we wouldn’t hesitate for a second in going back. My wife’s salmon was among the best I’ve ever had, and the menu is quite robust for such a remotely located restaurant. Prices are certainly reasonable for the quality of food and service you receive. My only tip to a potential patron is to call ahead and make a reservation. The kitchen tends to shut down after the last reservation, so you may not be able to dine if you arrive late despite being within the operating hours of the restaurant. Well done JC Wine Cellar!

J C Wine Cellars has become our go-to«fancy date» restaurant, and I have yet to be disappointed. Although a bit pricey, the food is always stellar. On my most recent visit, I had bacci formaggio– homemade tender pockets of pasta filled with three Italian cheeses in a tomato basil cream sauce. My fiancé had rock shrimp stuffed with crab. Both were perfectly prepared and absolutely delicious. Each meal is served with a delicious fresh salad(I recommend the Gorgonzola dressing… well worth the extra charge) and fresh, crusty Italian bread. Despite a somewhat strange décor(it’s housed in a renovated garage), the staff does everything they can to provide an elegant dining experience. The house wine is quite good as well. Although it is a little bit of a long drive from Wheeling, it’s well worth it for a special occasion-the drive is quite pleasant in good weather.

This charming restuarant, housed in a former auto repair shop, provides extraordinarily fine food, well presented, in an elegant atmosphere. I always try to have dinner here when I visit the area. The pork osso bucco(my favorite), the crab cakes and the filet mignon are all excellent. The wines produced by the cellar will not overtake Napa anytime soon, but they are pleasant and straightforward. There are plenty of reasonably priced choices produced elsewhere on the list as well. The waitstaff is always professional and friendly, no more so than when we held my mother’s 90th birthday at the restaurant. My only cavil is that there are times when the live music, sometimes presented, is obtrusive. I would have happily lived the rest of my life without hearing a cover of Bread’s «Guitar Man.»
