This is a great yoga studio and I loved every Hatha and Kripalu class I took there(I’m not experienced with the other classes). Wonderful instructors that helped me benefit both physically and mentally from yoga. They also have great student membership deals!

I am a frequent client at the Stony Brook location and I had the pleasure of attending the new pop up studio in Montauk this past weekend. The space is very calming and serene. I also had the pleasure of taking a class with a new teacher, Sara. I really enjoyed her class and I would highly recommend the MTK location for anyone looking for serenity in MTK. Namaste

I have been a regular at Mindful Turtle for about 3 years now and recently started their newly established 200 hour teacher training program with Beryl Bender Birch. I began my practice in the Bikram studio down the road, which I won’t knock because I think that the year that I spent in that heat allowed me to develop some flexibility, but after about a year I got really tired of the rhetoric and the same sequence every time. So, I ventured down the street to the Mindful Turtle and I found my yoga home. Mindful Turtle offers a variety of classes with some really great instructors. Overall, the studio has a large ashtanga influence, but they also offer vinyasa, hatha, kripalu, and evening yoga. The teachers are really great. Each teacher that I practice with has gotten to know me and my practice and pushes me to reach new places. They also have a great ability to have fun with the practice and to incorporate the mental piece of yoga. The studio owner, Danielle, is a true yogi. She embodies everything that you think yoga should be and has supported the growth of this amazing little yoga community in Stony Brook. You will quickly see the community if you come to the Mindful Turtle. The teachers and students all look forward to laying their mats down next to one another and sharing their energy. If you’re new to yoga, have been practicing for years, or maybe fell off the wagon for a while, Mindful Turtle has something to offer you. Come in for a class and I’ll bet you come back!

This studio is the reason I fell in love with yoga. I had been attending Bikram classes and started getting bored and sick of Bikram, so I tried some classes at Mindful while I was in town visiting family. Mindful was exactly what I needed. Plenty of classes, varying types of classes, amazing teachers. What more do you need? It’s located in a small house in Stony Brook, which is one of the more warm, welcoming places I’ve ever been. I love the feeling I get when I arrive at class. I feel very at home there. Mindful Turtle is the whole package when it comes to yoga. I love yoga for it’s health benefits and the way it makes my body longer and leaner. But I also love the mental effects of yoga. It brings me peace and happiness. Some yoga studios deliver challenging classes that give me a great workout, but fall short of working out your mind. Then, there are some studios that are a little too much about yoga for the mind and not enough of a physical challenge for me. I like a balance of both and that is exactly what Mindful Turtle gives you. I’ve been a member of four other yoga studios and not one of them can hold a candle to Mindful Turtle. Every time I visit Long Island, I have to make time for at least a class or two. Last, but certainly not least, the owner, Danielle, and the entire staff are absolutely wonderful people and yogis. I like coming back to Mindful for the teachers. They have the ability to push you without being pushy. All of my «yoga breakthroughs»(which is what I call it when I finally get something that I haven’t been able to do), have been at Mindful. They are just so well trained at talking you through difficult postures and finding ways to do the preparation for the posture or modify the posture to make it available to you. This is what has led to me getting into postures that I used to say would never happen for me. Whether you’ve been practicing for years or have never tried yoga, I highly recommend trying out a class. I’m very thankful that I had the opportunity to start practicing at Mindful Turtle.
