Place was horrible Rite on the high way with about 7 parking spots had to park a block away that should’ve been the first REDFLAG. the vibe inside is like a bingo hall and its kinda pricey $ 8 per hour per person so imagine the shock when we paid the bill and for 2 hours of playing pool it was like $ 80… Def can think of better places to spend my money… PS no females at all change the name to Sausage Castle

I come to Castle Billiards atleast 3 times per week. I am an avid pool player and I can tell you that they really take care of the place. They refelt the tables with Simonis cloth atleast once per year which is great. The staff is great. The food is great aswell. I’ve been to almost every pool hall in North Nersey, and Castle blows the rest out of the water.

My boss put me in charge to find a pool hall to have our employee appreciation outing at. I eventually found this place on the internet, read their reviews and decided to give them a call about a month ago. The person on the phone was extremely nice, helpful and more than willing to accommodate my groups needs. The outing was last night and all of us wound up having a blast! On the outside, the place looks small, however it was pretty spacious on the inside. They have plenty of regulation sized pool tables, a bar area with both beer and liquor. During our time there we were able to use four pool tables. We were also able to order pitchers of beer and we had heated food available throughout the entire event(which we ordered off their catering menu/available to view online). The food was pretty good. Mozzarella sticks were AWSOME! The bartenders were also very nice and quick. We were not able to put shots of liquor on my bosses tab so we had to pay for it ourselves. Not a problem! Shots were literally $ 5 each… Winning!!! They had a very creative cocktail menu along with a list of fun shots to take. There were only two cons: 1) the bathroom could have been cleaner 2)majority of the pool sticks were broken and were pretty cheap I had to give the place five stars based on how amazing their service was. It was nothing but the best! I would personally love to come back here again with a group of friends!

I have been coming to this place for years as I am a regular here. They treat their customers very well and very friendly environment. The food is delicious especially the specials menu. I love it here and always feels like home! Great place to play pool or just bring a date !

Place is solid with an abundance of tables to play on. Drinks are extremely affordable even on a Friday night. Bar food is pretty decent as well, but with a lot of fast food places in the area, I would suggest grabbing a quick meal ahead of time. I was lucky enough to try multiple food items sense it was a birthday party celebration. Brisket was actually pretty good but a tad salty, mozzarella sticks were crunchy and hot, penne vodka was descent and salad was typical. When you’re drunk though, everything fried and heavy tastes good. Music is a bit outdated though since its an older dj and place needs some tender loving care maybe a minor renovation. But overall, nice place to just come and hang out with friends. :Blue moon $ 4.50 on tap :Bottle of Heineken $ 4.75 :Yuengling $ 4.00 on tap

Great staff, bar was good, and pool tables are good. It a good rate for the pool but not in a group rate. If u have a big group get extra tables to split the bill up better. Drink are well made and dart board free so it pretty cool

This pool hall is a hidden jem if you are looking to play some pool, watch sports, and enjoy really good bar food. It will not be the best place you ever go to; it’s definitely a hole in the wall. With everything relative, it’s a great spot to spend a Saturday afternoon with a nine year to play pool and avoid a gangsta image type crowd. There are about 20 tables; the tables are nothing special and are a little worn. The tables have a ball collection drop, which is a first at a pool hall for me. Not sure what to make of this as it’s both convenient(at the end of a game) and annoying(when you scratch… which I do a lot, more than an nine year old.) The staff is extremely friendly and attentive, but then again there were about eight people in the whole place. I’d like to see them when or if the place is ever busy. They started up the kitchen just for us, and made sure our drinks were full. We ordered cheese sticks, buffalo nuggets and an eight ounce steak sandwich. The food came out in 20 minutes. I was a little worried to try food here since it was dead, but I was pleasantly surprised. The food was amazing bar food. The Buffalo nuggets were the best. Great size with breaded real white meat(not that processed crap). They were cooked perfectly and the sauce was great. It could use a little more kick, especially since I asked for the hottest they have. The cheese sticks were cooked just right and unlike most places still filled with cheese. The steak sandwich was on a great fresh bun of emense size with an even large wholly cooked steak that was definitely larger than eight ounces. It was probably about 12 to 14 ounces. I asked for it medium rare. It was cooked just right. The sandwich is missing toppings though, and could use some crumbled blue cheese or gorganzalla chared on it. This is an easy up sale, and I would have paid extra for that. It could have also used some caramelized onions. The would have brought this sandwich up a notch. Definitely try the food hear. I will be back to review more from this menu. When we prepared to leave, we began to clean up our plates, and the manager asked us to leave it. It was nice to hear that at a pool hall. The bill was reasonable. With two hours of pool and the food it was $ 40.

This place is exactly what i think of when imagining a pool hall. Good variety of people, drinks are cheap when there are specials, but they aren’t very good. The tables aren’t the best kept, but it is pretty cheap for pool. Pretty full Saturday night, had to have the manager find my group some more cues since there weren’t any left on the walls. Didn’t notice any pocketless tables. It’s a decent spot to hang out.

Have been here a handful of times. Located basically in an alleyway behind a baseball field, very easy to miss, and poorly lit, but doesn’t that add to the charm of a pool hall? And honestly in an incredibly safe neighborhood. Inside is very nice, clean, lots of tables, nice jukebox, and nicely priced beers, plus decent food and friendly staff. Pool hall pricing can range from cheap to ridiculous, and this one isn’t bad. You won’t break the bank here, but don’t expect dollar games either. I’m a super casual(once or twice a month player) and have gone with people who play even less and have always had a good time. Crowd is a nice mix of young and old, and I’ve never run into any douchey people here, and because there is no DJ and a good jukebox, it’s not impossible to meet and chat with cuties at a nearby table. Would recommend for a local, fun night out with the guys or even an after dinner date activity.

Went in on a Saturday night with no real expectations. The place is hard to see from the highway and, when you do identify it from the street, it looks like a dive. But, when we walked in, I was pleasantly surprised! The bar has great beer on tap, and the food(especially the sliders platter) is really good(though the wait for the food was a little longer than ideal). There were plenty of tables available – 15 tables to choose from. The jukebox was great – something for everyone. The sticks were straight and the tables were decent(worn felt, but the table we used was basically level). And the price for everything(food, beer, tables) was really, really reasonable. If I lived near this area, this would DEFINITELY be my good-to pool hall in North Jersey. Without question.

There really aren’t a lot of pool halls in the Jersey City. I grew up in pool halls during my teens and early 20s — Edgewater, Boston, etc. For my birthday, I really wanted to go to a pool hall — relive the more careless days you know– so my hubby found Castle Billiards Lounge. On a friday night, we arrived with our own pool sticks, chalk, glove and all. The staff from the cashier to the bartenders were very friendly, showed us our table and we were off. There were plenty of tables, guessing around 15, ours was in great shape and clean. It was a great time spent at a great place. Very happy there is still a pool hall around where you can just let loose and have some fun.

I went here with my fiancé and a friend to shoot some pool friday night. The beers were ridiculously cheap– 2 bucks for a domestic. Unfortunately the bar food tasted like reheated frozen food from Costco. At best. I’d give this place 3.5 stars for the pool tables, there are pertly of tables and there is a decent amount of space between tables. Also no one really bothers you, everyone seems to come with a group of friends to just have fun. I would come here again when I’m not hungry. But I’m always hungry. So. Yeah.

Castle has been around for decades. I’m not sure if ownership is new but there was a point where the hall was closed for a bit. The best thing about Castle are the leagues and tournaments. Yes, it’s a decent place to hangout too, but if you’re not a pool lover, then it kind of wears off after a few visits. You have to really like pool in order to keep coming back. There’s no DJ, but there is music. The food is basic bar food and the beers are priced decently. There isn’t that much parking out front but you should be able to find a spot on the street. If it’s raining, you may want to make other plans if you don’t want to get soaked. The hall is located right on 17 in between an overpass and a baseball field. If you’re not looking, you might miss it. It’s not particularly well-lit so just keep your eyes peeled. Once you get inside you won’t be disappointed. Most of the cues are straight and you have a choice from 18 oz to 22 oz. There isn’t much competition in the area, so you’re stuck with the hourly rate. I remember when Star was the jam…

It’s our buddy’s birthday, and my partner likes to shoot pool too. So, we went over to this place in the pouring rain. Plenty of on street and lot parking. Once inside, it’s pretty nice. You get a table from the cashier, kind of like how you get a lane in a bowling alley. No muss, no fuss and no scary shoes. Lot of people in there having fun. There’s a snack menu and drinks, of course — which they bring right to your table. Not expensive and the drinks were *huge*. So, it’s not necessarily the first place you’d take your mother or maybe even a date you want to impress. But, the tables were in great condition, and everybody had a really good time.
