Excellent Italian ices many flavors and combinations. Also has great custard which they blend with ices and other mix ins. busy place but worth the wait.

I’ve been here MANY times and yes they get veryyy busy on a hot day BUT I must say that there customer service is the best! I’ve been to the 2 locations in Plainfield and the 1 in Irvington and not only was the service horrible and slow but they never seemed to have Passionfruit… everybody knows Passionfruit is the BEST FLAVOR!

Rita Rita Rita my darling.
I absolutely adore rita’s. well everything. Its a pleasant and welcomed indicator that the dreadful winter is over when these stores open up in early spring. I for one hate the lines, and the confused patrons, but its close to home and I don’t have to burn as much gas to get here versus other locations. I always park in the shop-​rite lot behind rita’s and just walk over because I have seen someone actually back out their spot with ice custard in hand and hit the BRIGHT YELLOW metal post… Epic multi-​tasking fail. I refuse to have someone hit my baby just because they were driving and eating rita’s.

It’s Rita’s so it’s always good. The clientele here is pretty nice. They are always giving you samples, and never complain. Parking is limited, but the Shop-​rite parking lot can accommodate you. I’m addicted to watermelon, cantaloupe. All the gelatis rock! Anyway nice place to go on a hot summer day. Nice treat for the Grandkids. :-)

I LIVE in East Orange and would rather drive to Rita’s in South Orange or Bloomfield. If it’s not busy, East Orange Rita’s is great! But God help you when it’s a warm sunny day! It gets crowded and the folks at the window don’t fill the orders quick enough AND customers walk up to the window and STILL don’t know what they want: «I’ll have a…» —That’s really annoying. It would probably help if they had some kind of markings on the sidewalk to separate into lines. I’m not sure if they finally decided to accept debit/​credit cards. That was also an issue. Other than that, they’re good to go :)

Ive never been to a «bad» Rita’s… This one is not different. The water ice at all Ritas is made fresh everyday so it almost can never be bad. Much like Wawa will become soon, Ritas has become a phenom in north jersey since last summer Ive noticed. The locations are popping up just about everywhere. This location is conveniently located in downtown east orange. There are only about 6 parking spaces so parking is a hassle. Park on the right side of the building in the shoprite parking lot and it’ll be really easier to get out. The line cant be a bit long but they usually have atleast 3 people working so its not much of an issue. And remember if you go when its raining its buy one get one free. I like to buy the big quarts and stock up.
