One of my Fav Spots From Childhood. The food is always good. If the owners are there don’t expect to get great service. If Dave is there he is always nice. I love the food though the prices went up.

I’ve been here a few times and I have to state that their customers service skills sucks big time. The food is OK nothing special. The place is not vary clean, last time I ordered from here I found a produce sticker still attached to my tomatoes in the salad. That is how I know they don’t clean the food well. Vary rude people working here. learn to treat your clients with respect!

My go to West Indian eatery when I’m in the area. Stanley is usually around chatting it up, and if you say you know another place that has better food chances are he’s been there and he will offer his opinion on it, he doesn’t take it personal. He swears he uses the best quality ingredients, and that separates him from the rest. I’ve been going there for years and the wait times vary, you have to remember that even though 1 or 2 people may be in front your they get a bunch of phone orders. Jerk Chicken, Curry Chicken, Curry Goat with rice and pea’s are my staples here.

So this is one of those places in Newark you would think has better food than it does. To me, the ceiling for West Indian food is high so I had high hopes for this place based on previous Unilocal reviews. I’m not going to say it was bad, because it wasn’t, but it was just adequate. I even went to them a second time to make sure that it wasn’t a one off bad night. I ordered the goat curry once and the oxtail curry the second time. They give you a massive portion of rice and peas(beans) with the curry and a little bit of cabbage. A big no-no, however, is that you don’t get fried plantains with your order. The curries themselves were a little too greasy and the meat pieces too bony. But the flavor wasn’t bad. The rice and peas were good, but its hard to screw that up. All in all, I think Goldenkrust edges this place out and its a little cheaper as well.

Place is great every single time, curry goat and chicken patties are consistently excellent.

I was loyal for 10 years, but this place has gone downhill. The authenticity is absent. Ordered the rice/pea and oxtails and I cannot finish my plate as it is not good at all! I want my $ 12 back. Sadly, I can no longer recommend this place to anyone. Food is not the same. It sucks! Go to Munchies in South Orange instead.

Good place for local West Indian food craving. If your nearby stop to see Stanley the owner and try the food, best bet to call ahead, so not waiting to long

The first time I tried this place which was about two years ago, I loved it. Everything was tasty and delicious. Unlike others, I really didn’t find the wait time to be that bad. But I returned there recently and things have definitely changed. The macaroni and cheese noodles were overcooked and mushy and the brown stewed chicken tasted as if it sat in a crock pot for three days. The bones within the meat became too soft making it difficult to eat a bite without getting a mouthful of gristle. Come on People’s Choice. You gotta bring it back to how it used to be.

I would visit People’s Choice every Friday for their oxtails. They were awesome! Make sure you ask for extra gravy. Not the biggest fan of their mac and cheese, but the rice and peas are tasty.

The food is good. I really like their stewed chicken, jerk chicken and curried goat. Oxtail was okay. Price is reasonable and portions are very large. My only gripe is the waiting time for food. Up to 15 minutes even when there are no customers… I don’t get what takes them so long to just share the food out.

The place is cool it has a sit down area so chill and watch tv while you eat. Every time I go there this place is ALWAYS packed! I only get the Ox Tails. And man them joints be on point. U get a decent portion some times it comes with Platanos(depending on if they have them in stock or not) the people there are friendly(Jamaican owned) very good food…
