To begin, we really enjoyed the atmosphere of this bar, but as the night went on so did the sobriety of the bartender. One of the bartenders constantly drank throughout the night and later on she called us all«douchebags» out of no where as we were purchasing drinks. As I was trying to understand the situation she claimed she was«kidding, but not really you’re all douchebags.» She was heavily influenced and her boyfriend threatened us and claimed he was employed by the bar and lied as he was kicking us out. The whole situation was blown out of proportion and will never be forgotten as these drunken bartenders are in business.

Karaōke Wednesdays is TOPS! The stage and the setup is awesome. There’s a screen on a stand that is a teleprompter. They have props and have a ton of songs!!! 80% of the singers who get on stage have great voices. Makes it even more awesome because you don’t know who can sing!!! I actually have stage fright but I got up there to feel comfortable in front of people and be silly. At some points of the evening people would dance. Brian who is a man of Southern Hospitality is quite a dancer and s dance partner. Bob is a senior who is a regular on the mic. He makes the character of the space. GOODPEOPLES!!! The bar is not as divey as I was told. It’s quite clean for my dive bar standards. Maybe because it didn’t smell hoppy and mildewy than other dives I used to frequent.

I don’t go to Crooked Rail to drink, I go to play music. My band and I have played some fun informal jam sessions there and it’s always a blast! The cat who runs the audio(whose name escapes me) knows what he’s doing and always knows how to make us sound sharp. They have plenty of open mics during the week, and I know on Sunday nights they have their blues jam, which is a ton of fun. Groovy vibes come from this place, and the stage setup is strangely killer for a place that, quite frankly, looks like a dive from the outside. Everything, including the house drum kit, is monitored. It’s clean enough in there, and there are always plenty of musicians looking to jam and network with each other, so it’s good. Can’t say I’ve ever played a paid gig here, nor do I think there’s EVER been a paid gig there. But it’s good for jam sessions and trying out new songs on a crowd. Worth a stop in if you’re a musician looking to jam and show your stuff!

Hey what can I say? It’s located across the street from a great taco place, the owners were really down to earth and friendly and the beer is cheap on tap! There is a stage for live music and a pool table as well. Lots of parking nearby and just a nice place to relax, unwind, and not feel pretentious or like you need to be anybody else but yourself. Come wearing whatever you want with an open mind, a smile, and love of tacos(at el ranchito). So yea, if you haven’t been here, you should come here, and support some cool people who wanna support the local scene!
