I had contacted jimmy at Jbi through a forum referral and was quoted a price of about $ 300 for 1. Installing a wall switch and hanging a mini chandelier in place of a pull chain switch ceiling bulb, 2. Converting a recessed par30 aka can light into a fixture that would hang a chandelier, 3. Repair a recessed basement can light which recently wouldn’t light up and 4. Repair some exposed landscaping wire. On the day of the job, a younger fellow and an older guy named Tony showed an hour early. Tony started making a fuss about how I wasn’t home even though it was him that messed up the time and showed up early. Really? Anyway fine, moving on. I repeated to tony what I said to jimmy on the phone a few days before and tony said he would do a more exact quote to be $ 528+tax and that was not including fixing the landscape wiring since the non working basement light might need parts. I desperately needed to just get the job done and it seemed like the basement light might require a lot of work so I offered $ 450 cash… Tony made another fuss about how I was cutting him down and when he finally started the job said his drop cloth was dirty so I would have to provide my own floor covering if I wanted to keep things clean. Are you serious? So there I was 7 months pregnant on all 4s laying down painter paper so that the 2 men could just get the job done. The young fella worked on the first job and took the time to hang up the crystal on the mini chandelier. The light switch installed was a simple, old fashioned light switch. I saw that there were some small gaps around the chandelier canopy and gave the young fella a small jar of wall putty which fixed the gaps. Had I not done this though, there would have been a gap in the ceiling. Tony who was working on the 2nd job said he was unable to finish hanging the 2nd chandelier because the canopy was too small to cover the hole left by the converted can. He said I would have to search for a larger matching canopy and made a huge fuss about this. I went onto the home depot website and found a larger, standard marching caopy for $ 3.99. When I told tony he said i’d have to first get the part and he’d have to reschedule another visit. Again, are you serious? If i was going to be running around searching for, picking up parts and putting down floor protection, i would have asked my husband to do the job. Tony went downstairs to check out the basement light and again made a fuss about how a glass coffee table was in the way and gave me a look like he expected me to make it move. No way! So tony called down the younger fella to slide the table over and came back upstairs after 5 minutes max saying it was just loose wiring which he fixed quickly. My price however wasnt readjusted which originally factored in a possible need for can parts and both fellas left collecting $ 400 for what tony said was the work done that day. After that, tony and the young fella left leaving me frustrated at the gaping hole in the ceiling on the 2nd job pending my purchasing the proper canopy. Basically I found the part quickly at a local home depot, rescheduled for the next day and tony made another fuss about how I found the part when he returned. I had previously already hung all the glass pieces on this particular chandelier so the most tedious part of hanging this chandelier was already done. There was an outer shade that went with the chandelier too and I saw tony was going to hang the chandelier as is without the shade. So I unwrapped the shade and installed it on the chandelier at which point tony said he didn’t realize that such outer lamp shade style chandeliers existed. Am I really paying $ 450 for this? In any case, the chandelier was hung quickly and tony came to me to collect $ 50 which I thought was going to be reduced for the quick fix on the basement light. I was so done dealing with this that I just paid the money. Seeing that this company has yet to have a Unilocal review, I was hoping the experience would have been more pleasant so I could write a better review but I felt like I was being presented with no-brainer problems, superbly overcharged and less than pristine work. Sorry to say that I won’t be calling Jbi again!
