With the advent of mass production and idiot proofing of products for safety and convenience, we have started to forget certain skills that used to be essential. Now so many of the tools that we use is a day’s production and in such large quantities that there is no longer uniqueness in much of our everyday life. Of course you can always learn to drive a manual transmission car… but then the car is most likely mass produced.

I have wanted a straight razor for a long time but did not know there were so many choices and options available. I decided to go with Robert Williams after talking to him on the phone and seeing his gallery of razors on his website. I told him I was a newbie and he took his time answering my questions and giving me suggestions on the options. In the end he and I worked workout a unique truly design. I decided that instead of just a tool to shave with I wanted a piece of artwork — a family heirloom:
