The ELPL is a separate entity and not part of the Capital Area District Library. While a Lansing library card will work in Okemos and so on, it won’t in East Lansing.
When I first experienced this, I was definitely ticked but it ensures that all the patrons are East Lansing residents. But you don’t have to be a resident to browse (public library, duh) or use the free Internet.
The books on sale are dirt cheap and, surprisingly, are a decent selection.

Great place, great atmosphere, friendly people. Don’t miss the used book area where you can buy donated volumes at fantastic prices and benefit the library at the same time.
