Gio’s Pizza & Restaurant

By far the absolute worst pizzeria in the Islip area. Order a pie, it came completely raw, so bad that I just threw it out and order a pie from Mary’s. Don’t know how they could send a pizza out this uncooked but 2^nd and last time I will order pizza from them.

So disappointed. Love the food but they seem to have a problem with flies. I couldn’t even eat my lunch there today because flies were all over me and my food. Get an exterminator!

OK. Friendly and fast. Pizza was put in gal forgot about it and it burned. She put in another one and apologized. It was pepperoni and was pulled out too soon soooo it was basically a cheese pizza with uncooked pepperoni on top. Tasty dough, sauce a little sweet. Pinwheel was chewy and needed a few more minutes heating time.

I live close to this place and every Sunday my friends stop by to watch football and Walking Dead or Game of Thrones and we order Chinese and Italian… after trying every place around town, Gio’s was the clear winner (in the Italian category obviously). Not sure what else to say other then they have really good pizza, their prices are great (around 5.50 for a buffalo chicken roll that is big enough for two) and they deliver. Definitely worth stopping in for a slice

I’m always trying to find the best pizza place that is as close to that amazing NYC pizza taste, sadly this place was not it. The sauce was way to sweet for my liking, but I enjoyed the thin crust. The large pie was huge. This was just not what I was looking for.

I’ve been a Gio’s customer for 17 years. I grew up in Islip and not only have known the staff personally, but have always found their pizza to be the best around without question. Every slice is delicious, my personal favorite is buffalo chicken w their chunky Bleu cheese dressing on top, but all traditional slices are tasty too. Great sauce, quality ingredients, and good staff. They’ll be around for years to come if they keep it running how has been!!!

I recently used them to cater my Super Bowl party, they even do amazing hero and wings! Is there anything they can’t make?!? I wish they would open a sitdown restaurant.

Always a good spot for lunch. Tried every single pizza on the menu and I must say they’re all amazing! Best part about this place is the awesome size of slices. 1 slice here is about 2 slices anywhere else! Always have my business.

This rating is more to do with the staff than the food. Unfortunately, staff seems to be more inconvenienced than anything else with the idea that you are there to order food. And If you think calling ahead is a good idea, think again. Unless you’re planning on ordering an entire pie, you cannot order by the slice on the phone. This isn’t great for me being I usually only want their buff slice or a sicilian slice. Seems like they would rather lose the order altogether than allow a customer to call ahead. Doesn’t really make sense to me, but whateverrr.

It’s been two years since I’ve been back in my old hometown, East Islip, N.Y., but when I went for my East Islip High School reunion, staying with my girlfriend, Barbara, we headed straight to Gio’s. We ordered a slice of plain cheese pizza and sampled it and then headed to two other places close by to compare which pizza tasted best.
Gio won HANDS DOWN!!!
The crust is thin and soft (foldible) but crispy on the outside, the mozzarella and sauce flavor delicious!
Gio’s Pizza is the quintessential Neapolitan pizza and it’s delicious. It would make Gennaro Lombardi, who first dished up his pies in 1905, at his Lombardi’s Pizza — proud!
Now from the outside, it is non descript. It’s in a strip mall that’s been there forever, since I was a kid. I lived there in the 1960’s when Eleanor & Pike was there, and Bob’s Candy Store was right on the corner, complete with deli and a laundramat… Oscar’s across the street.
Having long since making my home in California I miss a good Neapolitan pizza.

went to this place three times a
week order the same thing never rite always a different price and not only that the beef is hard and so was the shell I use to spend 60.00 a week there called up and try to get the order fixed and was tolled by him to go fuck myself this place I do not recommend unless u want to through your money away

Overall good food but not very personable or friendly. I ordered my food and kind of stood there pacing around waiting but no one talks to you. I guess some people prefer to be left alone but if I was the boss, I kind of want to know the people that come into my business. Food was definately hot and ok but the cold shoulder kind of made me drop a star. I would hope if you’re a regular they will be nicer.

Good solid pizza. Not the best around, but not the worst. Gio’s is a reliable pizza. The meatball deep dish is my favorite from this place.

I ordered a pizza to pick up from here because our regular place Angela’s in Islip was closed, hopefully just for vacation because this had to be the worst pizza I’ve ever had. When I arrived they told me my pizza wasn’t ready. Ok no big deal. I decide to add some garlic knots and a rice ball to my order since I’m waiting anyway. A few minutes later I’m out the door with my order. I get home and open the pizza box and it is totally burnt. Gross burnt. I really wouldn’t have minded so much except for the fact that they said it wasn’t ready when it probably was and I ended up with way overdone pie. On a side note the rice ball was ok and the garlic knots were very tasty. I will never go there again. I can’t even believe that they had the nerve to give a pizza in this condition to a customer.

I have been going here for years. I work near by and it is a great spot to get a good, filling slice. They have a full menu with wraps, salads, heroes, and platters. Their specialty slices are the best, with my favorite being the buffalo chicken slice. I have tried other pizza places in the area and this one is the best of all. Anything with buffalo chicken from there is great!

Ok… I didn’t actually eat here. I attended an event at East Islip High School and they served pizza. It was so good that I went back for more and saw that it was from Gio’s. If I am ever back in town, I stopping by here because it was really good.

Hands down THE best Pizza on Long Island!!! Grandma pizza amazing… the Regular is AMAZING!!! Try their specialty pies… like Eggplant Parm pizza, Chicken Cutlet Parm Pizza and so many more. the pin wheels, and rice balls are very good. Their sauce is really good. Everything you get here is great. Very Very clean… and an awesome staff as well I love those guys!

Set in a busy, nondescript, personality-​void busy strip mall on Carleton Avenue, this is one of those pizza joints that you don’t really think to go to until someone brings you. «It’s one like any other in the next strip mall,» you say. «It looks like a dump,» you say. «What’s there to make it stand out?» you ask.
GRANDMA PIZZA.
Omfg, the Grandma pizza.
Chunky sweet sauce, crushed basil, garlic and herbs, generous amounts of gooey mozzarella, and a layer of shredded romano/​parmesan cheese sit atop a medium-​thin oven-​baked crust, and it is absolutely effing GLORIOUS. Hands down, the best Grandma pizza I’ve had, to date.
The garlic knots are interestingly different, too — but in a good way, if you’re not specifically craving the harder, crustier knots that is more common to Long Island pizzerias. Baked as soft, garlicky rolls rather than individual hand-​tied knots, they’re soft on the inside, and greasily flavorful on the outside. So squishy and delicious.
So much love for this nondescript pizza place. Between those two items, I don’t even care what else is on the menu.

I’m a fan of their pies… Their rice balls are great. Calzone and mozzarella stix are great too. Never a complaint. Except the dude that answers the phone is ALWAYS cranky!

Nothing is disappointing — pricing on par — Grandma Pie… hands down the best around!
