We ordered takeout for a party(2⁄2016). The ribs were a big hit — recommended. Our ½ tray of wings was so dried up they were inedible. Avoid the wings.

Catered a company event with these guys and they did an amazing job! Our team loved the BBQ. The gals at The Rib House helped me with the order and it was right on. Easy to deal with, delicious food, on time delivery! We will definitely be back, thanks for everything. –The Crew at Brandfon Honda

Best ribs in New Haven metro; do takeout unless you like 70’s dinning room. Staff are very nice and attentive. Great bargain!!!

It’s dumpy but the ribs are awesome. I go with my daughter and we love it. I would upgrade the furnishings but hey — it is what it is. If you live ribs you won’t even notice.

Place has gone down hill and they changed the bbq sauce on the ribs no longer the Nice sweet barbecue sauce now it’s that cheap sauce that the Chinese restaurants use don’t know what happened use to order from them for all sports events sad to say they will never see me there again

stopped in to eat had to wait a bit, very outdated obviously the owners put their money In their pockets and not the business, like entering Bates Motel, dark and smelly from stale cigarette smoke from the bar, the ribs are served ¾ style with little meat on the bones. the ribs are obviously not smoked but boiled and coated. the sides are from the 1970’s potato, beans etc. the meat is white and a little stiff on the bones but not horrible they do not fall off the bone but you can use a knife to seperate them I would return to this place like I would the Bates Motel …

I’m pretty sure that last time this place was renovated was around the time I was conceived. Regardless of décor, they live up to their name, and the ribs are delicious. The sides generally suck, but you’re here to drink beers and get barbeque sauce all over your face and arms, not eat a baked potato. Are there better ribs in Connecticut? Sure. In this area? No. And there’s something comforting about this run down ribhouse. Prices are on the higher side of fair, service is reminiscent of a diner, and don’t come here expecting anything other than solid ribs. If you want ambiance and arugula, keep looking.

It’s all true… The exterior and interior are reminiscent of a truck stop greasy spoon, circa 1972. But, damn, the ribs are good!!! Service, although friendly, is slow. Price is good for what you get… My four stars are only referring to the food… Get take out… Give up on «ambiance!»

Ok where to begin? The ribhouse in east haven is by far the best place for ribs and more but definitely the ribs! I don’t know what they do or how they do it but I tell ya they are absolutely delish! I grew up in the south and this place gives it a run for its money! Awesome platters for Super Bowl too! The service is always good and although the bar is a bit divey, what great home grown place doesn’t have a divey bar full of regs! Love it can’t wait to go back!

As many other reviews for the Rib House mention, this establishment seems a bit dated & run down both inside and out. I stopped in for lunch with a coworker one afternoon. My coworker ordered the baby back ribs, I ordered the St. Louis style ribs. Both were tough & still stuck to the bones. What they are calling barbecue sauce would do better as a sweet & sour sauce on a Chinese buffet, I’m glad I had it put on the side. I was told the ribs have a nice rub on them but could find no evidence of a rub or marinade. I felt the baked beans & coleslaw came out of cans or paper cartons. They both tasted alright but definitely didn’t taste like they were made in house. If this was voted the best ribs by the New Haven Advocate I have a hard time believing the reviewers know anything about barbecue.

The exterior is run-down and dated. The interior is likewise lacking in any recent updates(and I lived in East Haven for 10 years). I adore ribs and so wanted to try a local restaurant’s take on them. I know a bit about BBQ, so when I found that their ribs weren’t properly rendered and were still quite fatty, I was a little sad. The approach is Kansas city – sweet, sticky tomato-based sauce on baby back pork ribs. It’s hard to screw up and hard to make all that memorable. These ribs were competent but nothing more. Good for the area, but not outstanding in terms of overall expertise.

got to-go food from here on a few occasions. whenever we get to-go they forget to give us an item & call us when we are half way home. i don’t eat ribs but my boyfriend and his family really like them from here. the onion loaf is also delicious. whenever i get the chicken it is pretty dry. & the parking situation is always horrendous!

I ‘ve heard so many mixed reviews on this restaurant, I finally had to try for myself. The outside looks very run down and dated… the interior isn’t much better. This place has every inclination that it just might not be as clean as I would like it. But I still had to try. I ordered the baby back ribs that came w/a side of roasted potatoes, and coleslaw. I thought the coleslaw tasted fresh and delicious. The roasted potatoes were a little dry, but not bad… The ribs were very, very good and all for $ 16.00.

This place is one of the best around for ribs and chicken and their BBQ sauce is amazing. The Rib House was established in 1984 and hasn’t changed much since. There is a very basic menu but almost everything tastes great. The building and interior /décor is dated and really is in dire need of updating which is the only reason why I didn’t give a five star rating. There were signs indicating a renovation is in progress however I didn’t notice work being done just yet. Bottom line is if you’re in the mood for ribs this is your place. They also do great platters for take out.

Came last night for dinner with my boyfriend. Had to wait maybe 10 minutes for a table. From the inside, it could have been 1992. Noticed they have a booming«take out» business. I think there were more brown to go bags of pick up orders coming out of the kitchen then there were plated dinners. Rib House is the place to go for always consistent ribs. Baby Back ones, get those. Also you can’t go wrong with a half carafe of wine either. There’s a small dining room area and a separate lounge/bar side too. Even though the dining room only has a couple tables and booths, we didn’t feel rushed at all, which was great. Can’t wait to come back.

We than ordered 2 meals ! Ribs and Chicken and BBQ Shrimp The waiteress retuns with 2 plates of Ribs I said sorry we had 1 ribs and 1 chicken with Shrimp She said ya ! and looks at her slips and repeats chicken and shirmp and Ribs I looked at the plate of Ribs NOT chicken and said WOW never seen chicken like that She than realizes that it wasnt chicken, takes the plate goes to the kitchen returns with a nice big breast of COLD chicken ! While we ate our meals we over heard the table of 11 next to us have 1 mistake after another and COLD chicken also ! The total should have been $ 40 plus for both meals The manager comes over with the bill and says I took the chicken off and the bill was still $ 35.00 !!! She said sorry, I said for what not seating us? messing up the order? or the cold meals? and she said I guess u wont be coming back ! Needless to say I said NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO ! Parking lot was old with a lot of pot holes and it looked dingy from the outside. My girlfriends mom had a groupon so we decided to go. Never again! The service was horrible. We waited about 20 minutes for drinks, 45 minutes for appetizers and more than an hour to get our food which was cold. Our waitress seemed like she wasn’t trained well and never came to our table to ask if we needed refills on drinks or if the food was okay. I will not recommend this place whatsoever to anyone. The food wasnt worth the wait.

Hole in the wall type place. Great ribs and decent hamburger, but it’s very dark and gloomy inside. Expensive considering the atmosphere — but still the best baby back ribs I know in the area. Wishes: New interior. Some windows. A bit cheaper for a half rack.
