So I asked for a Frida cake and BOY did I get my Frida cake! minus a star because the service was annoying but I have been going to this bakery since forever. So kudos. I got red velvet, it was moist and delicious as always.

I was so disappointed with my experiece at Sorrentos Bakery, I called on April 6, 2016 to place a bday cake for my husband. I went to pick it up on April 08, 2016. But, sadly they can’t find my chocolate cake with fresh strawberry filling. They had my order in the system but no one can’t find my cake. I waited for 30 minutes and they failed to locate my order. I was upset because nobody even apologized for the misdemeanor, there was no supervisor on duty. And I end up paying for a small vanilla cake that I don’t even like because I ran out of choice. The saddest part was its my husband’s favorite cake. I lived in Clifton NJ and drove all the way just to surprise him with his favorite. What a shame!!!

Just left the bakery and of course it’s packed with people but the employees were absolutely nasty and discourteous to the customers in the bakery. It was simply inappropriate and uncalled for.

I bought cream puffs for my husband’s bday and I was hoping they would be delicious. They were good but I dont think I will buy them again from this bakery. The service was really good though.

Fantastic bakery! This is without a doubt one of the best bakeries in northern NJ! The quality of the cakes, pies, pastries, donuts, is top notch. I’ve ordered pies for the holidays, pastries and donuts for the office… all excellent! As if the bakery items weren’t enough, the sandwiches are also great! This is a frequent lunch spot for me and I’m never disappointed!

My friend brought over a carrot cake from the bakery and it was excellent! I liked that it didn’t have raisins and the cream cheese icing and filling was amazing!

Sorrento’s is the type of bakery that has what you need to supply your own party or bring to another party. Cookies, cakes, cupcakes, mini desserts, and a deli filled refrigerated displays greet you as you walk in. The service is quick and they keep the line moving. The cupcakes are delicious with frosting that tastes homemade. The mini desserts are also delicious, and so are the cakes I have ordered so far(Hazelnut in one and mocha in another). I would recommend this bakery to those looking to satisfy their own sweet tooth or those needing to bring a dessert to an occasion.

Sorrento’s is my favorite. I’ve gone here my whole life. In my opinion they have the best subs in town, delicious cakes, cookies, and pastries. Their bread is always great, we have it with Sunday dinner every week. Donuts are great. Can’t say enough nice things about this bakery/deli. I now work across the street and come here for lunch at least 2 times a week. With wraps, salads, sandwiches of all kinds, you always can try something different and I guarantee anything you try you will love.

Their pastries, cakes, pies and bread are above average. I only wish that management requires and enforces all counterpersons to USEGLOVES!!! Some of the staff have touched every single pastry I ordered as they boxed it. This must violate some health code in Jersey, no??? Am I the only one that cringes when I see them do this? My stomach says yes, but my head says no because of this reason. Latex gloves can’t be that expensive, can they??? I would give them 3 – 4 stars if they change this habit. Returned Thanksgiving Eve only because I was in the area and need a dozen mini-desserts. To my surprise, several counterpersons indeed have gloves and those that didn’t were careful to use wax paper to grab and box desserts. I hope this is a permanent change, because their desserts are above average and deserve respect while being handled. Changing my rating to 4 stars.

Great bakery. A little bit pricey. They also have salad and cold cuts section. It gets a little bit disorganized there during the lunch time. Their answering service for the over the phone orders is terrible. My orders got messed up few times so it’s better to just place the order in person.

From the cakes to the breads to the donuts, everything in the bakery looks phenomenal and it’s easy to see why they’re always busy. It gets a bit disorganized as a result and I’ve seen orders get mixed up from time to time. Great selection and prices are not too bad. Unfortunately I usually get the salad as it’s one of the few«healthy» meal choices and they are not great, but don’t come here for the salads anyway. Although I don’t drink coffee, everyone who gets it raves about it as well

Their bread… oh their bread… is ridiculous! Their pastries are good but not the best. Their staff could use a little more personality. It gets disorganized during busy times. Parking isn’t very good. I would only go here for their bread. Capice?

Sorrento’s is out of the way for us but have always wanted to try it so we dropped by on our way to a pool party to pick up a cake. Large selection of cakes, cookies and pastries. They even had gelato. Hard to decide on just one cake but we bought a small red velvet cake. And I had to try a mini cannoli — cannoli shell was crisp and fresh and the cannoli cream was not too sweet. Red velvet cake was moist and the cream cheese icing was good. Very reasonable compared to Swiss Chalet. Parking can be a problem but I will return!

Bread and pastry are top notch no doubt, service is not the best as they want to know everything you are going to order prior to getting started on filling your order. Prices are good and the place is small so if you go during the holidays expect to wait or be in a long line. Bread is some of the best in NJ, the deserts are great but not the best I have had in NJ but one of the one that stand out for me. Parking can be a pain during the busy season but when I have gone during the normal times it was not an issue. The lot is rater small and street parking is a no no in a few spots. Defiantly recommend trying this place out for either bread, pastries or sandwiches.

Overpriced. I bought crème brûlée, which should have a crystallized top. Instead it was like soft custard. The tiramisu was just mocha mousse. The cannoli shells are always stale and hard. We got sandwiches once, and it barely has any meat in it. People rave about this place, probably because its the only bakery around. For great bakery items, make a trip to Gencarelli in Bloomfield, Brothers Bakery in Kearny(the BEST bread), Calandra’s in West Caldwell.

Bakery — YES — EXCELLENT — can’t go wrong and the selection is fantastic for pastries too. Deli — well, not so good. If you follow my deli reviews here is the lowdown: Bread — Star Meats — Star Service — well, not so hot. Rude, pushy and don’t understand english well and don’t care to Toppings — okay, not all that I would like in a deli nor all given. Overall — Star, which really comes from the bakery side…

We actually finished dinner early enough to make it here just before their closing time. There were still about 5 servers and we were the only customers. There are a lot of selections and I felt rushed — reading some of the other reviews I guess this is the kind of place where you should know what you want before going here. They specialize in Italian pastries and I was quite impressed by the available selection. From eclairs, tiramisu, crème brûlée, lobster tail, and the chocolate mousse and red velvet inside this chocolate dome. I saw some cakes too so next time I need to order a cake I know where to go. There is a event banquet place next door so I wonder if they supply the dessert for their events. They certainly look like those dessert I see in weddings. They do have room for seating area and I think that would be really nice to open one so we can come in and enjoy our dessert with cappuccino there. And they have 5 servers to definitely be able to support that. Maybe one day…

One of the best kept secrets in the area. Sorrento is great for many reasons, but, for me, the baked goods(duh, it’s a bakery) top the list. The cakes and pies are very well priced(similar offerings in NY might cost 2 to 3x more) and delicious. Among others, try the Cannoli Cake, any of the layer cakes(they make the best buttercream frosting), and the apple and pumpkin pies. Great order ahead ideas for birthdays. The cookie selection is nothing short of voluminous. Everything from small cookies(probably 30 or more varieties) by the pound, to larger cookies like linzer tarts, frosted cookies for the kids, and my personal favorite, the brownie cookie. The various«pick up» pastry offerings provide something for just about everyone. Cannolis(large and mini, chocolate covered and traditional — as good or better than Ferrara), napoleons, cheesecake, mini tortes, and the list goes on. My favorite, which they only have on occasion, is a chocolate«cup» filled with chocolate mousse, sitting on top of red velvet cake, all with fresh raspberries on top(see pic). Great selection of homemade breads. The cupcakes and brownies are a bit of a weak point. Certainly not bad, but they pale in comparison to how good the other baked goods are. The well-stocked deli side(everything from great cold cuts to homemade mozzarella and other Italian specialities) is great for lunch or catering and the shop generally has a great selection of specialty food(mostly Italian) items. Be prepared to wait on line unless you come in at a very off time of the day.

This small bakery is super authentic Italian. I can only speak for the pastries, cookies, & cakes … but what else do you need?(Actually they have a deli counter & a small shop of Italian foods, so you might need that.) We bought a fruit tart & some pastries to bring to a family party, & it was a HIT. Check the picture, because that fruit tart was almost too pretty to eat. Almost. The fresh fruits & delicious custard … even the crust was unbelievable! The parking lot is small & confusing. We missed the entrance, due to a misleading ONEWAY sign that was inexplicably facing the wrong way. We were one of three cars that had to pull a U-turn on the adjacent street just to get back into the lot. I’m sure it happens on a regular basis. ** Pull into the entrance that looks most obvious. The one way sign is facing the wrong way, & only applies if you need the additional parking that wraps around the building. **
