This is an awesome butcher shop with a friendly and knowledgeable staff. Prices are a little higher than the local grocery store, but totally worth it! While here, you can pick up everything you need for a dinner for two, or your barbecue for many. Looking for a quick bite? Breakfast sandwiches and grinders can be taken to-go or eaten in the small dining area. With all that this shop has to offer, it would be hard for anyone to leave empty handed. There are live lobsters, shrimp & fish for the seafood lover. For the meat eaters, there is; steak, ground beef, pork, lamb & chicken. There is also a case of prepared(marinated) to be cooked meats. There is a small produce selection for the vegetarians. Sandwich eaters can pick up a loaf of bread, cold cuts, cheese, gourmet mustard and store made salads. They have a small case with a great assortment of cheeses, some store made. Even those with a sweet tooth can grab a chocolate bar, pie, fruit tarts or cookies for dessert. If we lived closer to this shop, I would do all of my shopping here.

Memorial Weekend lunch take-out was a success. Meatball sub, turkey sandwich, antipasto platter and Italian cold cut combo all so fresh and tasty. I could have shared my sandwich for sure. Enjoyed it lakeside at the rented cottage on lake pocotopaug with a glass of rose. Tasted like vacation to me.

My wife went for the first time the other day; she was very impressed by the care the butcher took in helping pick out meat for a special dinner. They make a lot of their own stuff, and have a good selection of local products as well.

The Lucky Goat(Phortunate Pheasant, Erstwhile Emu, whatever, the name rocks, move on…) is the REALDEAL, FULLSTOP. If you don’t understand the way meat is graded for consumer and restaurant use(Prime, Choice, etc) then I’m not saying you don’t belong here. I’m saying you need to have a conversation with one of the knowledgeable guys behind the meat counter. They are a genial group who will hopefully explain to you the basic details of grading and why, for example, certain cuts of meat are justifiably $ 20/lb. You cannot buy commercial grade Prime beef at any supermarket. Its not there, and never will be. The house made sausages are particularly excellent. On a whim I used their house made breakfast sausage as part of the base for for holiday stuffing and it was a knock-it-out-of-the-park winner. There is a thoughtful, careful man running that grinder who knows exactly what the hell he is doing. Never stop. Beyond the meat counter, Lucky Goat offers a broad range of other selections from the usual suspects, which is to say that we have some excellent local purveyors here in CT, such as Cato Corners(cheese). Hook these guys up with Four Mile River Farm(not going to happen for certain obvious reasons) and you’ll have a stampede(sorry). They also have a nice selection of prepared items and ready to heat meals. I purchased a rustic style berry tart along with a few other things and it was excellent. Don’t like the vibe? Great, stay out and keep out of my way. In the meantime, my friends and I will keep coming back for the good stuff.

I stand by my previous review. Consistency at the lunch counter is lacking. For $ 8.00 I would like my sandwich the way I ordered it. Disappointing…

Love this place! The more we go, the more we find to love. Had breakfast sandwiches after church this morning. Buy one get one for $ 2.00. They were fab! Kielbasa sliced thin, cheese and egg in hard roll, bacon eggs and cheese and sausage sandwiches. The muffin and coffee deAl was great too($ 2.50) and the muffin was delicious! took some home for tomorrow. Don’t miss the $ 99.00 take home meat deal. Can’t beat it.

I love the Lucky Goat, I’m so happy we finally have a local butcher! They’re not just a local butcher with so-so offerings either, they really have anything you’re looking for, from wonderful meats, poultry, and fish, to salads, sandwiches, and some of the finest cheeses this side of the Mason Dixon line. They have prepared marinated tips that are absolutely scrumtrulescent and melt in your mouth, they are created from their steak tips which are just wonderful quality. I am also a big fan of the breakfast sausage, brought them to a tailgate session recently and people went to town. There was a small civil war over the last one but it was settled diplomatically. Every time I have a raging desire for meet I go to The Lucky Goat, I have only been a handful of times but I plan on going back over and over and trying all they have to offer. The prices aren’t very high either, yes you’re going to pay $ 15-$ 20 average for your selection but when you’re eating it will really stand out as a good decision. I recommend TLGBS to anyone in the East Hampton area and outside as well if you’re looking to get some wonderfully butchered meat!

Everyone talks about their location. Yes, it is so nice that you will want to check this place out. It’s small inside but it’s nice. There’s no doubt they seem to have excellent sandwiches. They have a really nice selection of meats and fish. Speciality items such as frozen ravioli and cheeses can be found. They also have the basics like burgers. I found their prices to be outrageous. 10.99 a pound for live lobster when I can go to the next town for 5.99 st tri town? I wouldn’t spend 20.00 a pound for rib-eye steak EVER. I was hoping to find alligator meat, ostrich or something really unique to cook up to explore some unique eats. I didn’t see any bison either. When I see the word speciality, I think of extraordinary mixed in with ordinary. Those who love it. Continue to it seems really nice. But anyone who is not willing to spend big money on steaks tonight, avoid it and check a Sammy instead :)

Swing and a miss… While it is clean inside. It’s surprisingly small on the inside from what it appears from the road. We picked up several Delia salads, sirloin steak, roast beef sandwich meet, beef jerky, and some chili… The jersey was overpriced for the quantity, and over peppered. The chili was awful, honestly I think they used pasta sauce as a base and added some chili powder. The steak was fine, but no different then the cheaper stop and shop offering. The deli salads were sub par. Disappointed because they clearly did a nice job on the building and landscape, but this business will not survive long.

I read reviews I don’t write them. I felt compelled to do so today. I just went to the Goat and had a Pastrami Reuben and it blew me away. NYC claims they make the best Pastrami and I’ve had several especially in the Chelsea area. They could take a lesson From the Goat. Shockingly delicious. My husband had bbq pulled pork and it was just as good. When I go back I’d love to try something else but hey, if it ain’t broke… The owner also gave us a sample of their marinated steak tips. WOW ! Oh the staff was really friendly too. So happy this boring area got a super star.

Great new place. I have been in several times as I work right in East Hampton. The sandwiches are a bit pricey but they are HUGE so it’s worth it. They have a section with fresh veggies, a deli, salads, soup, cheeses, fine meats, seafood, house made sauces and hummus, local honey, Mazzacatto’s pastries, jarred pickled items, beef jerky, spices, a coffee and pastry area, a little something for everyone. They even have fresh horseradish root!!! Their beef brisket is delightful! I highly recommend you stop in and check this place out. Word must be getting out because they are always busy when I stop in.

A bit disappointed after the anticipation of a new butcher opening a shop close to my home. It’s a very nice building, they do offer a lot — however it is extremely pricey and I would label it more of a glorified grocery meat/seafood department rather than a your typical butcher shop. The owner(butcher?) was no where in sight and all the teenagers working there seemed confused regarding different meats. We left with nothing purchased, but we will try again when they are more situated as a business.

I went there yesterday on the way home from the in-laws. I had found the website a few months back before they opened and wanted to try it. Since losing our beloved Meat Shop in Meriden, I’m looking forward to finally a new butcher. The place is not what I expected. It is very posh inside, and it was PACKED! They had nice local cheeses to choose from, including some Catos Corner cheeses. They had soups, prepared salads, a deli counter, some frozen meats, etc. I went to the meat counter and it was just one case for meat. There was a case for fish too. I was expecting more cases, but they had plenty to choose from. I got spicy chicken sausage and some bone in chicken breasts. It’s a very small place, I felt really rushed to make my choices, and the person behind the counter was not friendly, nor did he ask if I needed help picking something. I understand they were busy, but Meadow Meat is always busy, and they take the time to ask if you have any questions. I’m hoping it was just a fluke and the Lucky Goat getting its bearings. I tried the spicy chicken sausage last night, and it really didn’t have much flavor. I haven’t tried the breasts yet. I’m going to try again maybe on a week day when it’s not so busy and maybe I’ll have a better experience.

New place– kind of an upscale butcher shop/deli. Went during the soft opening looks nice but the sandwich I got was unimpressive.
