I am hella confused about the high ratings this place got because the food wasn’t even edible. We based our decision to go there based upon the high ratings and we were completely surprised to find that it was 2 star at best. The rice was bone dry, the jerk chicken was not jerk chicken at all, they couldn’t even fry up some fresh plantain. Everything was made prior and served up like Caribbean jail food. I was born in the Caribbean and this was not an accurate representation of what it’s supposed to be. And those beef patties that everyone raves about I can bet are from Patty King.

Great for catering! We ordered large serving trays full of curried goat, Jamaican jerk chicken, patties, and the roasted plantains. No one at the barbecue was expecting the Jamaican spread on the dining table inside, and it definitely added spice to the party.

I was in the mood to try a different cuisine and we ended up here. It is a take out place. They have a wide selection of dishes served in a buffet-fashion. You can choose to add anything from the buffet. The portions are huge. The owner and the people in the store were very friendly. Following their suggestion we drove over to Main Beach and had the jamaican food picnic-style. It was a fun date.

Rena the owner is unbelievable. Warm, easy going, and always available, her dishes are truly out of this world. Anyone skeptical to this cuisine ought to take a chance, they will be pleasantly surprised. Prices are reasonable, especially for the Hamptons. Make sure you get those patties. Yum. A real winner and going back soon!

This place looks like… they have some side business… The beef patties are RIDICULOUSLY good! The Beef and Spicy Beef are the best. The rest are great too but you can’t beat the Beef Patty! I want to get one every time I pass by, sooo goood! And very reasonably priced — Score! Staff is über friendly, they heat up the food for you and they have all sorts of cool ethnic groceries.

Wa-gwan!!! Having been around Jamaican food, I know what I like. I was pleasantly surprised by this place that Hubby found while driving by. I kid you not, this is one of the best tasting Jamaican places I have tried, and oddly enough– in the Hamptons! Jerk chicken is amazing– not too spicy but definitely a nice kick. And LOVE the curry– meat falls off the bone. The jerk salmon is made to order, and the seasoning is sooo good– they can put that on cardboard and sell it as a side dish. Generous portions. Can’t wait to come back next summer.

I highly recommend the Beef Patties and the Peas & Rice. Delicious and reasonably priced. Nice little market inside the restaurant has dried pimento and other Jamaican staples that can be hard to find.

Who says East Hampton exists solely on grilled sea bass and Starbucks? Who says you can’t eat anywhere except the Hess Station without dropping a $ 50? That there’s not one ethnic restaurant(ITALIANDOESN’T COUNT) in the Hamptons. Well look no further, and I mean really no further because the next place on the street is Nick and Toni’s. Welcome to Jamaican Specialties on North Main St. Sometime this summer Jamaican Specialties moved into the space where Crossroads Music had been. They installed bright lights and lined the walls with island grocery products, finally Pic-a-Peppa. But it’s the takeout food that is the BIGPLUS. Welcome East Hampton’s best new kitchen. Rena Hewie Stoutt is the chef and she turns out delicious meat pies, beef, chicken vegetarian($ 2 !!), jerk chicken, oxtail, curry goat, as well as scrummy Jamaican breakfast, Akai and codfish, on weekends. Open 9 am — 10 pm 7 days/week. Meet Rena and Alayah. Enjoy homemade delicacies, No Problem Mon!
