I have been to the café several times, and the food is good. Dont know why everyone says to go there, except that if your in town everyone always stops there. Its quick and fast and the food is so so. A little pricey but its East and people expect to pay more just like getting a haircut thats not so great but its East and people think who they are. I guess its the attitude of the whole town people.

Such a great little café. The soups were fantastic. Great place to stop and have a bite to eat on the way out east or on the way back. Staff was friendly. Everything was very good. Only complaint was with another customer. A gentleman from the city who was a real loud mouth. Someone called him«Paul», I think that was his name. He was very rude. He kept going from table to table and reciting his«poetry» to the customers. We really just wanted him to go away. He said«Great Neck used to be great until they let the sickles in!» I don’t know what that means but I’m guessing it’s racist. He started waving clothes hangers all around and then the manager came and forced him to leave. He said he he «didn’t care because he was going to Starbucks anyway because there were no Jews there.» What a horrible person. I felt so bad for the staff at the café. They were so nice.

RIDICULOUS prices for mediocre food and indifferent, sub-par service. So sick of this place. They charge $ 4 for a toasted bagel with butter and $ 12 for a container of cut up watermelon… you should be ashamed of yourselves.

Not sure why this place has such a low rating! Coming from NYC, the prices are surprisingly good for the Hamptons, and the food was great. Seafood chowder, lobster bisque, chicken and bacon sandwiches, brownies — it was all reliably tasty, and served fast by the exceedingly nice staff. I stayed in the Hamptons for three days in the off-season, and got lunch here every day. Leagues better than the Starbucks around the corner, for sure.

Good food with some health-conscious choices, but way overpriced.

Totally delicious if you’re willing to cough up $ 23 for a bacon egg and cheese on a bagel. That may or may not include a drink, I don’t totally remember. When you’re hungover in the Hamptons this is a great place to start.

If you are looking for an experience being racially discriminated, Look no further… this place can print it out on their receipt !!!

Tasteless, both the food and the staff. This is a feeble attempt at food that is much better down in the South and the West Coast, while charging insane NY prices.

They reinforce racism with their casual talks about describing their customers(people who keep their business alive) ANDONLY caring to describe their customers by race. It doesn’t matter if you do it to all customers and it’s part of the norm, it doesn’t mean its right! it’s the fact that your company takes the issue of marking customers by their race a light issue and doesn’t raise any concern to you all and that’s a huge problem. So if having slaves was normal and if it was done all the time it actually makes it right? I think not! Anyways, close this place down already! Psh!!!

Not cool. I guess every people of different race should double check their receipt to see how they’re described.

Yes — it’s incredibly expensive but it’s also really good. Three eggs, avocado, bacon, and cheese on a bagel with a large coffee is twenty dollars. For the price, you could go to a number of places around the Golden Pear for a similar quality of food, but theirs is a step-above the rest. Also, it’s East Hampton; things are expensive.

Overpriced and really nothing special. Better eggs sandwich across the street.

Underwhelming light meal of soup and a pastry here. Unfriendly bordering on rude service. Better off grabbing something from Citerella to go for better quality and cheaper food and nicer service.

Came here for lunch. I had the half wrap and soup combo. I chose the Water Mill wrap and butternut squash soup. the wrap was described as roasted veggies, mozzarella, lettuce, tomato, and a balsamic glaze. However, it seemed a little on the bland side and I didn’t see any mozzarella in it. The soup was good. With the combo and an iced coffee, my total came to $ 16. Seems a bit much, but that’s how it is in East Hampton so you can’t really complain Be prepared to wait for a table if you come during the lunch rush. My friend and I got a table easily, but while I was waiting for my friend to use the bathroom before we left, I had to give up our table to a family who was screaming at each other across the restaurant.

$ 16 for a bagel with lox! Whoa. A little pretentious but occasionally good for running into famous people.

THEWORSTSERVICE! My boyfriend and I went to grab a quick bite last Saturday morning and this place was a dismal. It took 30 minutes to get a Spa burrito! The café was indeed busy but the employees were disorganized and unprepared for the rush, which is surprising given that EH does a majority of its business in the summer. They didn’t take the individual’s name associated with the order and shouted out random names of the breakfast items ordered to no one in particular. People were annoyed by the poor service and disorganization. We expressed our frustration and employees didn’t seem to care and there was no one in charge. This place sucks.

Why… that is my review… why… unless you are a born-again fiend of the craycray owner — why? Hands down the worst place in the Hamptons.

After driving about two hours to get into the East Hampton, my girlfriend and I were starving. We searched for something of a bargain, and the only thing we found in the general area that was quick and sorta«cheap» was Golden Pear Café. We ordered a feast of food, which also put me back about $ 40. Not that cheap. Buffalo Mac and cheese, but someone forgot how to make macaroni and cheese. No heat either, even though it had the«buffalo» name. Lobster Bisque just flat out sucked. We didn’t even finish it. It should have been called Lobster Bisque broth because nothing was in it lobster-wise. Chicken Panini with jack cheese and chipotle sauce was actually very delicious and the only thing that saved Golden Pear from a brutal one star. It had a great taste to it and it was very large($ 10). I wouldn’t necessarily stop in Golden Pear because it wasn’t very cheap and it wasn’t very good either. Definitely a miss on my first meal in the Hamptons.
