I go there when i need tech knowledge info on my power tools. They are accommodating and friendly. They generally know their stuff and they give you any information about the products in their store. Love the Cub Cadet! Didn’t know it was first manufactured by International Harvester till they gave me a history lesson. Thanks guys!

Love this store. The customer service is excellent and I have never been given bad advice. As female who is not very handy, I need all the good advice I can get. I have made major purchases here which are all continuing to run well as I use their service department. I also use the rental department. Again, they are efficient and helpful. I much prefer shopping here rather than the big box stores. Knowledgeable, friendly staff make the difference for me

Great little hardware store. It never seems to be busy so whenever you walk in, someone always asks if you need help. I have used the service counter many times to rent tables, make keys etc. The staff that work in the back are super friendly. I also get my pool chlorine here. It is very easy and the men who work in the back put it in my car for me which is great when you a baby in a sling around you. The cashiers are normally high school girls– very pretty but they all seem like they are there for show. I wouldn’t ask them for advice about DIYs but they are nice!

Well, I love Country True Value near HVCC, however my experience with its much larger sister-store was mixed. I had an incident with some frozen pipes and needed a space heater. Home Depot and Lowes were out. Completely sold out. So I went to rent one, figuring that they didn’t have any for sale either. I was reassured over and over that using a propane powered space heater in a living space vestibule would be safe. I’m no Einstein, but something just didn’t seem right about that. But the teenagers/early twenties fellas working in the rental department kept telling me it was safe to use in a living space and since I have an old house it would be well ventilated enough. I would have been more than happy to fork over the $ 250 to rent a heater to gently unfreeze my pipes to my tenant’s upstairs kitchen, but this former Girl Scout had a funny feeling in her tummy about that, so I asked the manager, he emphatically said«no the tank needs to be outside and you can run the hose through a window, but if you put the tank inside you will start to leak propane as the room heats up and that would be dangerous».(running the hose through a window wouldn’t work as there are no windows in that area and the hose would get crushed under the door and I couldn’t leave the door open because(1) it was sub-zero weather and(2) I live in Troy). Glad I paid attention to my Girl Scout instincts. The manager apologized and helped me find an electric space heater that wouldn’t kill me, my tenants or potentially explode(yeah a space heater could cause a fire, but much less likely than heating a propane tank in a vestibule). He even gave me the last sales price on the heater because of the incident. This won’t stop me from using True Value, but I will always insist upon talking to the adult employees or manager of the store to ensure my and my tenants safety.(And I’d rather go to the smaller store closer to me). I was thankful that they were able to accommodate my need for a safe space heater and saved my pipes from rupture. Apology accepted and Thank you for your assistance.
