Wimer’s Organics

I totally agree — Wimer’s farm CSA shares are awesome. Great variety of fresh, organic produce each week, convenient pick-​up locations across Philadelphia and the surrounding area counties (see their website for full list), and no more picking out produce at the grocery store!
I split a full veggie summer-​fall share with a coworker, since neither one of us could use the full share of veggies each week. Even with half the share, my boyfriend and I sometimes have a hard time eating everything (I cook 3 – 4 nights a week, pack 5 lunches a week, and generally eat a LOT of veggies). I would think even a family that usually eats at home and a uses a lot of veggies would have a hard time going through a full share. As an example, my half share last week contained:
— 2 yukon potatoes
— 2 tomatoes
— 1 yellow onion
— 1 red bell pepper
— bunch of chard
— bag of spinach
— ~1 pint concord grapes*
— bunch of dill
— bunch of mint
HALF a share!
*occasionally you get fruit!
Needless to say, it’s always fresh, keeps well for over a week, and tastes delicious. Other goodies have included ears of corn, eggplant, butternut squash, heirloom cherry tomatoes, a lot of greens, beets, and broccoli. It’s also fun trying out new veggies and ways to cook them — when else would I have daikon radish, kohlrabi, or garlic scapes!

I’d highly recommend Wimer’s shares. I had never done a farm share before this, but it’s a great fun way to get fresh produce and try out new things!

100% agree with what’s been said; we have been receiving Wimer’s organics CSA box for the summer-​fall, and I am sad to see the season end! Extremely high quality produce, good value, and as an added bonus Bud was very easy to work with when we had scheduling difficulties during the summer (vacations when we would be gone for farm share weeks, etc.) Highly, highly recommend their CSA offer. And don’t skimp on the eggs & yogurt as add-​ons, they are both the best I have ever had!

Wimer’s Organics is seriously the best farm share I’ve ever had (and I’ve now had three in three years!).
We get a farm share, a yogurt share, and an egg share, and everything about the process is professional, human-​scale, and high quality. We get a great variety of veggies; with other farm shares, I end up with a zillion turnips that just end up going to rot.
I love Bud Wimer’s weekly newsletters, letting us know what veggies to expect and telling us about how the farm is doing… and what’s been on his mind lately.
With pick-​up sites all over the city of Philadelphia and suburbs, I would strongly recommend them to anyone.
