It is unfortunate that one cannot give a negative star rating. One star is a way better rating than this horrendously bad doctor deserves. Dr. Khan is by far the most unprofessional mental health care physician I have ever encountered. She was syrupy sweet to my child but surly and rude to me and my spouse. My child has seen her twice. During the first visit, Dr. Khan was very forceful and demanding towards my spouse. We decided to give her another chance. Unfortunately, we missed the second scheduled appointment due to a miscommunication between my spouse and me. Yes, I completely understand we were in the wrong on this point and am perfectly willing to accept our share of the blame. However, when I called to apologize and request another appointment, Dr. Khan answered the phone, shouted at and berated me for being so irresponsible, was extremely irate and ugly towards me, agreed to make another appointment and then deliberately hung up on me. My spouse took our child in for the second appointment, during which Dr. Khan accepted a number of telephone calls and carried on conversations by telephone that were completely unrelated to my child’s therapy session. When my spouse asked why she was so irate and hurtful towards me on the phone and why she hung up on me, Dr. Khan stated that it was a cultural thing and that women in power in her country spoke very loudly and forcefully. She also added that she was having a number of issues with dropped calls on her cellphone. I am not stupid. I can tell when a call is dropped and when someone deliberately disconnects. And, it’s interesting that she didn’t seem to have any trouble with dropped calls when she was taking calls one after another during my child’s therapy session. Additionally, Dr. Khan doesn’t have a clue about how to file our insurance, which I know that her office accepts because that is the way I found her office in the first place. I have given our information to one member of her office staff. I do not know what happened to that staff member, but the insurance was never filed and Dr. Khan continues to request information that has already been provided. With a city as large as the Chicago area, I would think that psychology/psychiatry would be one that was extremely competitive for patients and that doctors would do their very best to provide kind and thoughtful care to those who are in need of help. I am disappointed to find that in this particular case this was not the case.
