Review: Tatami Restaurant & Sushi Bar Location: Route 18, East Bridgewater Link: I went to Tatami with a regular for lunch on a Thursday afternoon. The only word to describe the food and the word does no justice is ‘Wow’. I have had good sushi and real good sushi, this by far, was quite possibly the best. Z the owner sent dish after dish, some on menu and some off that were better than the next. The location is unassuming, you may drive right by it, but don’t let the humble exterior belie the terrific food inside. We had spicy tuna, the East Bridgewater roll(pictured), a starter that is off the menu(pictured) yellow tuna in soy, oil, scallion and garlic so simple but a burst of flavor. I’d have been happy just to have plate after plate of these packets of flavor come out, sashimi, and for desert a spicy tuna on cucumber that was a piece of art(pictured). Because it was part business lunch I had my note book and wrote this was an: eyebrow raising; tongue pleasing; soul satisfying meal. I’ll be back.

We just happened upon this restaurant when we were in the neighborhood, and were very pleasantly surprised. The sushi was excellent as were the steamed shrimp shumai. The service was also excellent. I’m not in the neighborhood often, but would return to this restaurant in a flash.

I stopped by Tatami this afternoon, as I had wanted to try the restaurant and finally had some time to do so. I walked in and was instantly greeted, by a nice, smiling employee. It was really quiet, because it was around 2 in the afternoon, so I didn’t have to wait very long for service, or my meal. The apple wine was delicious, as was the Sushi Sashimi Lunch special I ordered. It comes with miso soup and a salad, as well! It was very fresh, and tasty. For dessert, I had the fried ice cream(green tea) and it was the perfect size and ended the meal wonderfully. All in all, I was very happy with the restaurant and will definitely go there again. It’s a small, cozy atmosphere, with pleasant music in the background, and very nice employees. Definitely a place to check out when you are in the East Bridgewater area, and it is worth the visit!

Found this restaurant through Unilocal and it lived up to it’s rating! Owner and staff are all super friendly and nice. Very patient with a sushi rookie. Food is excellent, fresh and well prepared. More extensive/creative menu then other local restaurants that serve sushi. Love to sit at the sushi bar and watch the chefs create their«art». High Wave roll is my favorite, but have tried most of the rolls on menu and liked all of them. Now venturing into other areas of the menu, to broaden my horizons. My new favorite is the Spicy Hawaii Salad. :)

Years ago there was a big snow storm on Valentine’s Day and this is the only restaurant we could find that stayed open… we were pleasantly surprised. They served us tuna shaped in a heart! The sushi is very fresh! The East Bridgewater maki roll is our favorite! It is a hidden gem! We are regulars now!

Hidden gem in East Bridgewater! Food is excellently prepared, menu selections encompass all types of Japanese cuisine, and the portions are huge for the prices! Service is excellent, interior is clean and modern, and is quite cozy whether you’re at the sushi bar, small, or large table. You won’t find better Japanese without driving into Boston.

Decided to get the Groupon and try this place. I ordered the High Wave, which was very flavorful. However, I ordered it with no tobiko and they put tobiko on there. My boyfriend and I were the only two in the restaurant and walked in while the employees were eating at a table, so there really isn’t an excuse. My boyfriend got the teriyaki chicken bento. Apparently they don’t have any other way of cooking their meat except to broil it. When he got it, the center was still pink. We told the waitress. She told us that if it was raw, the center would be red. Not sure what chicken you are buying, but chicken mean is pink. I tried it and it tasted off, really off. Unlike any chicken I had ever had. He got the steak instead, which was better but not great. I think we will try a different place next time.

What a super friendly, nice little find this restaurant was. Who knew you could find excellent Japanese food out in East Bridgewater? We enjoyed our meal very much. My guy got sushi and I had chicken with ramen noodles and vegetable tempura. Everything was very tasty. We were very happy with our meals. The service was extremely helpful and nice. We will definitely be back to this little gem.

A+ sushi. Great prices. Try the mango shrimp roll or high wave roll. Very fresh and delicious. The kids liked the beef teriyaki and chicken katsu bento box. Also the crab rangoon were very good. Service was great. They are all very nice and friendly.

Lived up to its Unilocal rating! I’m here visiting from out of state. I’m a long time sushi/sashimi consumer so very seldom rate anywhere 5-stars. Rolls were complex, well prepared and good tasting; party of 3 ordered 6 rolls total. Only complaint: Hamachi sashimi was a tad discolored on the edges, and a little degraded in flavor(verging on phase 3 degradation and therefore had to dunk it in soy/wasabe), but good sized. Service was great! Didn’t try anything off the cooked menu but would definitely recommend this place over buffet style sushi.

Everything is totally spot-on! The dining room isn’t large, but it’s cozy and large enough that you don’t feel bad if you’re eating in. The owner and staff are friendly, welcoming and knowledgeable, always greeting you with a smile and making recommendations. Not only do I put the food quality on par with my favorites from my years living in Quincy, Tatami surpasses many of my old haunts in food, atmosphere and service.

I like sushi fine but it’s pretty much never my «go to». That will likely change now that I know about this local gem. First of all, sweetest/friendliest staff ever. Second, great food! The rte 18 and alligator rolls were my fave and we got some good oysters too– they also had a lobster special and the chef made up a roll with it for my friend that he said was lemony buttery perfection.

This place is great! Friendly service, fabulous sushi! The only thing that could have been better was if they brought all the sushi out at the same time and the crab Rangoon had a thinner wrap(it had the frozen store bought feel, still pretty good just not great… No crab to speak of)

I don’t think I can find better sushi than Tatami in the South shore. The fish was fresh, and good portion with the price. The chef/owner is very experienced, and so he is very creative with making modified version of maki or some appetizers to accommodate our different taste buds in our group :) I high recommend Tatami Restaurant to anyone!!!

And I am going to say this again… this place is da bomb. Took my best friend and niece for girls’ day out brunch last Sat. Aside from the fresh sushi, and the specialty rolls, we got something from the kitchen too. That was the first for me and it was a pleasant surprise. Now, my 12 year old niece is a picky eater and I mean really picky. She ordered the beef teriyaki lunch that came with a miso soup and salad, and an extra order of California roll. She ate her salad, which was a good sign, and drank half the miso soup and pronounced it «Okay– which in her book is good if she eats it. Next, her beef teriyaki lunch came, and she ate the beef and rice. The 2 items left in her lunch bento was the 2 fried broccoli florets and green beans. She ate her California roll as well. The skinny 12 year old ate her lunch, which is a rarity. She usually picked at her food, took a few bite and call it a day. Tatami certainly is onto something great. My BFF and I decided to split a grilled yellowtail collar from the kitchen appetizer menu — Hamachi Kama. So fresh and so good. It took a while to prepare but so worth the wait. I got the hoso maki lunch — tuna, salmon, and yellowtail. All good. My BFF got the rte 18 roll, vegetarian roll, a California roll and a fried sweet potatoes roll. She said they were all good. Don’t worry, she didn’t eat them all. She tried. Will definitely be back again for our girls’ day out lunch.
